Is this acceptable behaviors for a Tank?

doesn't really seem like that big of a deal. yea the tank should have waited for buffs at least, but you still could have easily sprinted after him, sc protect and then spammed cure 2. well, assuming you are overgeared that is.

when i tank i always ask before doing big pulls, and i check gear and party composition. if we die, and it's not because something random (like a d/c) i switch to normal pulls.

Truth.

The current mentality in general of what a speed run is needs reworking. We have some of the dumbest outlooks pertaining to SRs in this game. People actually believe saving a few minutes is something noteworthy in a 4-man dungeon. As though those precious few minutes is a matter of life and death in their efforts to play a video game. Fine to do, but there's no need to flip out on or ridicule your party if it goes badly, as many instances of such things result in.

For most of us that have healed such situations, or paid attention to how things flowed with or without a wipe, chances are quite high that the tank in question is an idiot about tanking in general. They're what I would call the "carried" tanks. They might even have raid clears under their belt, but they did so with party members who accommodated to their poor abilities. Thankfully for them, being a tank is hardly a difficult thing to do in these situations.

Back in ARR, I've had tanks, just like the OP, who end up pulling way more than they can handle. As in 80-90% HP drop every 2sec with a party that consists of nothing but melee. They're the most common type of successful bad tanks, and they're all over the place in 50+ content. They're the idiots who will constantly do "SR" type pulls even after multiple wipes, telling everyone they're either bad or they just need to play better, instead of adjust and do things normally... assuming they haven't dropped the group by that point. Speaking of "normal", maybe it's just me but there's a lot of these types of players (not just tanks) who, if told to do something normal, they'll vehemently argue that something like an SR "is normal". I swear, if I could just end them IRL...

I just had this problem there now with a nasty tank. There were two of us in Thornmarch. We we were fighting before everyone was wiped. Now I done nothing but heal and regen. Once we were wiped I saw a message saying "Quenn Berry, WAKE UP!"

I have to admit, it's infuriating. Not only that but I stayed in the fight and having to heal the guy was getting to me too. I know it's childish but he was a dick. Later on he called someone a 'NOOB'. I am assuming it was one of the DPSs this time as he was pointing out something to do with one of the enemies.

In the end we were a slither of HP away from beating King Mog but most of us were wiped and it was only himself and another DPS.

One would think that would be the case but I've had multiple wipes after repeated efforts to point out my MP wasn't regenerating between pulls. Simply put, the tank had to slow down because I wasn't geared for speed run but do you think he'd listen?

cant really say if he was in the wrong because people have different ideas of what a lot of mobs are. if they pulled EVERYTHING up to the first boss (very doable), then yeah thats really stupid to do in a pug. u should be able to handle everything minus 1-2 packs though

Oh boy. When I get in situations like that, as a Healer, I tend to react to it in the "It's my way or the high way," route.

Speeding through a dungeon is fun, but it's not when the party isn't ready.

Tank's a derp in this situation. I guess they really needed to go fast. I wouldn't have put up their crap, either.

I hate trhis as a healer, as someone who tanked and healed @ 60 I can pretty much say that is not good tanking that "leeroy" tanking. I actually had the reverse happen recently.

I was a tank in halatali and ran into a healer who wanted me to mass pull. I'm sitting here as a lvl 23 barely able to handle aggro from being rusty at gla in not even the best gear.

I got told to quit the game since I was struggling. both the healer who was whm and a smn keot mocking me, Luckily my b/f who was the other dps amd stood up for me.

Broken record time. Communication, at the start did you happen to say you just switched classes and you're not ready yet? You didn't mention that. A quick, "hold on one second" and then tell them you're abilities aren't up yet, may have prevented what happened to begin with. I know 9 times out of 10 in a PUG group no one talks other than a hello, but if someone says hang on a second, I'll stop and wait.

Now if that was said and they still ran off, well then not much to do there

On behalf of every tank in the game, we apologise for disturbing your afk while healing time. We understand that you want to afk while healing and it's shame on us to ever try make you actually actively involved in the dungeon.

Guy kinda ran off before I got a chance to type to her that I just changed class... went on pulling all of the enemies and I couldn't stop to type to her that I just changed classes. Usually before I start run with anyone in a dungeon I look at my Party List first to see what class and parameter levels they have and if it's low I know they most likely just changed class outside of a Sanctuary so I wait.

I don't think the Tank noticed and I believe I told her after we wiped that I just changed classes and not all of my CD were up. Still didn't listen and ran off ahead.


EDIT: This is annoying to reply back to someone's quote and the max character limit is 1000 and the only way around this is to edit. Change the limit to 2000 characters at least SE!

Tank was being a clown, but you should have at least said when the dungeon first loaded up that your abilities were on cooldown and needed 30s or something( iirc you can do this while the dungeon is loading once you see the message you have joined a Light Party). If I join up in a dungeon as tank after switching I tell the guys my stuff is all coming off CD so give it a minute because theres no sense starting my pulls with zero defensive CDs or the healer can say YOLO and spam my ass with heals til ready.

If a healer doesn't cast protect 10-20s after loading, I assume they just don't feel like casting it/feel too good for it/forgot unless they tell me they need a minute on their CDs.

Def. shouldn't have been an ass clown but a little fore warning goes a long way. If you warn the guy your stuff is on CD, the group then knows not to expect things like protect for the first pull/can make adjustments on CD usage themselves or if the group is going to sit tight for a minute and wait it out.

If you expect me to pull no more than 2-3 mobs at a time, I expect to see you in Cleric Stance until I actually need a heal.

Seems like a fair tradeoff to me. No Netflix for you!

Ah don't feel too bad, over all in this game tanks are by far the biggest douche players. I play every roll extensively, and no matter if I DPS, heal, or partner MT/OT, I always run into tanks with huge ego complex.

I just wish they remember, bots can grind tomes for gears, monkeys can press 3-5 buttons.

Don't be an ass, be a team players.

Speed runs are an excuse for every non caster dps, tank, and healer to mash one button and then bitch about the run taking .5 seconds too long.

Uh... no? Machinists and Bards do very well at speed runs, and I AoE my tail off as a Monk.

Both machinists and bards have one button to mash for AoE, and a single target buff to keep up.

Tank Divas are hilarious.

I had one on in an Aery run earlier that started raging throughout the entire run because of one death, which I took responsibility for and apologized about.

Apparently, that wasted 2 minutes running back to where we were was enough to flip the switch because it sure as hell wasn't the slight durability damage we received from the lenient death penalty in this game.

Needless to say, tank dropped and we got a better replacement that was much more reasonable and enjoyable to be around.

I don't know about Machinist yet, but bard is definitely 2 buttons lol.

Actual player Aoe is either spread shot or grenade shot depending how long things will survive, using quick reload on cool down and refreshing hot shot. Also bishop turret but that's basically set and forget.

Definitely not ok for tank. There are many ways to play this game. The ways that take more risk always require more communication to make sure all party members are ready.

This is why savage players usually always have voice comms.

Players who expect to do the 'hardcore' style, eg speedrunning, rushing, dps tanking, healer tanking, should always make sure its okay first.
