Strongest Job Lorewise?

Man, I don't know. Who's more powerful, the guy who hits a dragon with a giant axe, or the guy who cold clocks the dragon across the face for more damage than the giant axe?

I mean, I'm just saying, there's only one job that can kill primals, dragons, and whatever else on Eorzea with a backhand.

I know very little about the lore, but again, wasn't the binding spell that powerful due to the assistance of other Scions and the prayers of Eorzea? I'm not implying that Louisoix isn't incredibly powerful, but against assitance he'd be no more than a feather in comparison to Bahamut, the only people of holding back Bahamut would be the other Elder Primals, the now extinct(?) Allagans, and likely Midgardsormr in his original form. The power of the primal summoned is also directly tied into the prayers received, Ysayle had a fairly small cult of followers, while Louisoix had almost the entirety of Eorzea.

But regardless, the fact that he able to become powerful speaks volumes, but you say speak as if White & Black Mages are limiting easily attainable power, when in reality if they weren't "limiting" themselves very few could achieve that power, Shantotto being the only one who has from what I'm aware of. But again, I don't know too much about the lore of White Mages and Black Mages, so do correct me if I'm wrong.

Blacksmith, hes hammer destorys all! He's so awesome he dosnt need a job class to be the strongest, but if it did it would be A Thor class, he mastery over thunder and lightning would make even Ramoo jealous!

This is absolutely incorrect. You are literally GIVEN the fairy at the end of the first Scholar quest. You do not summon it yourself, it is tied to the Soul of the Scholar. Alka Zolka basically says, "Ain't no marauder got time for this, it's all you," and gives you the stone (Obviously because he didn't want to deal with the fairies, himself). You do not have a spell in lore to call these fairies, they are merely tied to an item you possess. Alka Zolka could have had the fairies if he kept the stone. Summoning is ENTIRELY different. Lore wise, scholar is weak. Again, intelligence =/= strength. Intelligence in battle is more about how efficient you use the strength that you have.

Technically, Monk's strength comes from hitting more times, quicker. Their individual hits aren't very strong. Go ahead and try to crit harder than a properly utilized fell cleave on monk!

Weakest class woud technically be Red Mage, for it in and of itself is a jack of all trades yet a master of none. (and yes i know that the class isnt in game, but i think im right.)

SCH's didn't have raw power. A number of the classes don't rely on raw power but rather versatility and what you clever use of the power you have. This is a point I make about MCH. MCH use magitek and unlike the Garleans, Ishgardian magitek integrates a Machinists own Aether into the tech allowing them to make their tech adaptable and more efficient. Its in it's infancy but in a way MCH are literally gun mages. If they can use Aesthetically charged tech the potential things they can do with it is pretty interesting.

Its worth remembering about BRDs as well that they aren't just singing nice songs. Their song is magical. There is a reason it drains their mana. This is actually pretty established in FF14. Do the lvl 60 BRD quest to get a prime and quite obvious example.

I guess the real question here is how are we defining strength? Raw power? Potential strength of application? Adaptability?

If we were theorize maximum potential, Machinist could be easily the most powerful by creating an army of Ultima Weapons, which would simply absorb any spells and summons flung at them. :D

I think Lady Iceheart on her own was more powerful than Louisoix. She did the same as Midgardsorm on her own.

the marked one is for the access to ishgard. But machinist can learn everybody in Ishhgard who is too weak for the other classes/jobs.

Without the help of all Eorzean prayers or the help of a Dragon Horde, i think it's very impressive.

Physical strength I'll give to Monks followed by Warrior.

Overall strength? WHM and BLM at their peak. SMN is a runner up.

I didn't mean to say she was powerful as Midgardsormr. But sometimes I think that she is heavily understimated even when she did that.

I seiously doubt SCH is that weak, since they weren't outright destroyed by WHM and Void Mage factions during the Magi War. Void mages tried taking their home multiple times and failed, and if anything it would seem they had a strategic advantage that forced the Void mages to resort to biological warfare instead of pure power.

And the Sharlayans SCH are no joke at all.

Actually in the 2.5 quest Nabriales said he has that power from using his staff, which enables him to draw the power from the environment around him.

Well you have to keep in mind that gun making has been in Eorzea for years already. Blacksmiths are constantly improving on guns to advance the technology and most likely have solved a lot of recoil issues allowing easy use for one hand no matter the person's strength.

MCH skills do show some recoil but only slight push up on a shot.

I'm not wrong though.

The only way for a player to become a Machinist, is to first unlock Ishgard. Which requires them to be another, better, more accomplished class/job first. It's really counter-intuitive to the themes and message of their Job's story line.

Well one thing the MCH Job storyline mentions during the first quest is that it hints the WoL has a head start over other MCH. For example, A Limsa starting WoL would be mentioned to be a Limsa adventurer implying he or she already have some skills above other people with a Gun. So most likely compared to other characters the WoL is the only ones that start out as lvl 30 while the NPC start out as level 1.

Lorewise, I'd go for either Ninja or Warrior as the strongest jobs.

As for as weakest lore wise, I'd imagine it'd be either monk or bard. In the case of bard, they are lore wise not fighters by trade, simply empowering the people around them to make up for their own martial deficiency.

Monks are weak because they have to smack the mob like 6 times to have any effect.

Actually, if we're only going by a pure lore and cutscene standpoint Monks are one of the more powerful classes. A Monk using all 14 Chakra easily reaches god-tier status. I still think one of the magic classes like WHM, BLM, and SMN are likely more powerful, but besides maybe Ninja (I'm not too familiar with them, but it's my understanding that a Ninja using Mudra is a lot like Monk using Chakra), Monk is hands down the strongest of the physical-based classes.

When he held Bahamut back, he was trying to summon the Twelve as primals. When he killed him, he was using a country's worth of prayer and an ungodly amount of aether vacuumed up by Tupsimati. Phoenix is probably one of the strongest primals ever summoned.

Strongest DoW: WAR, their job quests leading up to fell cleave explain the pvp phenomenon known as double fell cleave.

Strongest DoM: SMN. lore wise we learn that allagan smns were capable of immense summoning that dwarf what we as the warrior of light can currently achieve. Deathflare is the tip of that iceberg, another pvp wrecking spell.

As many has said, in terms of raw destructive power, Summoners. Not only are they capable of outright destroying lesser Ascians, they now channel the power of an Elder Primal which makes them by far the most powerful. However, I would argue they have some competition. Warriors and Monks have complete control over their bodies and mind, giving them the pinnacle of physical prowess. In addition, Dark Knights tap into the Abyss, a source of power we have yet to fully understand the limits of, if there even are limits. And finally, we have Astrologians, who can adjust how fate plays out before them based on the movements of the stars and their ability to channel the great amounts aether held within said astral bodies.

Edit: I'm not going to pick on Bards and Machinists. They have it rough enough it is as "normal" people, but at least as "normal" heroes they still possess enough aether to make their music or machinery vastly influence the flow of battle.

Black Magic was banished for fear that it would destroy the world.

I'd say either black mages or scholars. As mentioned before black magic nearly destroyed the world and yet the Nymian scholars were able to repel both powerful black mages and white mages with a vastly smaller army. If scholars know the bindings of magic (thus the whole intellect bit) inside out so to speak they could potentially nullify anything black magic or white magic may try to do by ripping basically unraveling their magic from the inside. Not to mention the ability to resurrect the dead and create shields out of thin air over a large area. However if they can't do that then I'd argue the ones that have the power to destroy the world on their own would be the strongest. Not to mention they can set anything they desire ablaze with so much as a glance..

Summoner because they seem more like pure mages unlike Black and White Magis which are specializatons. Summoner's have immense aether wells and can channel and summon greater entities. During the 3rd Astral era Summoners were hunted to extinction by the Allagna Empire becuase they were turning themselves into gods becoming tyrants and bleeding the Aether from the land. Black Mage and White Mage stii have pleople that can pass down the art while the Summoner learns the art from discovering ancient text and awakening memories within the soulstone.

I kinda gotta agree with the weakest being Machinst. Story wise it seems they were only created to simply allow even the common folk to take up arms in battle but keep distance from confrontation. Granted I havn't even hit 50 on it but just going on what I've seen.

Lorewise strongest job imo is the BLM . Not only do they draw their power from the Aether like the SMN's and WHM's but they also draw from the Void itself.

SMN's have a more controlled version of using the aether and are more akin to becoming primals in taking on aspects of the Eidolon they are summoning.

WHM's destroyed Ampdapor in doing battle with the BLM's for fear of BLM power because it was unrestrained and it since it being so powerful could actually destroy not only the world but the user if used incorrectly. Besides the Elementals hid the power of white magic from the world and only gave its secrets to a few but BLM's are not governed by the Elementals and so can not be contained.

I just wanna add something because someone said that it would be WHM due to the fact Lousoix stood against Bahamut alone

Louisoix is a scholar, he might carry a staff like a white Mage would but it is still scholar's spells that he is using, that shield in the end of an era video is clearly that of the scholar job, tho way more powerful than the one we have access to in game.

White Mages are terrifying.
