Also weren't there rumours that a certain Crystal Brave was a hint at Red Mage?

Or jumping 199 feet high due to low gravity on the moon, falling through a crevasse, into a deep underground ocean that is 5 miles deep with subterranean cities and ruins on the surface of the deep, inhabited by a race of lunar golems.
Enter our new unlockable race.

I'm already cringing at how the forum will explode when Samurai is shown. I'm expecting it to be a Tank myself, but considering I'm STILL seeing people crying rivers over DRK being a Tank, the rage on here will be real if that happens. And I'll be over here not caring, because I'm not afraid to Tank, and will gladly welcome Samurai to the Tank family if it goes the Tank route.
And that's not even considering all the nay-sayers we already have about Red Mage, a job of which should have already been in the game at this point IMO.
I 100% expect to be disappointed in rdm. I cannot see how they can implement it to be anything but a front line dps job which will be sad. More then likly with some self haste buff and enchantments on swords for increased dmg.
Makes sence though being a rdm like in other games where you have white/black magic and the ability to melee would just be too confusing for people because how would you pigeon hole it into a dps, healer, or tank if it is a JACK OF ALL TRADES like rdm is suppose to be.
Then again they turned brd into a gimp ranger with a few songs which is still laughable so hell rdm will probably be a crafting class.
Honestly, as long as I get a sword DPS, I don't care which tanks if either lol.
The only thing that concerns me about going to the moon is we only have access to a very small amount of land on Hydaelyn. Eorzea is a smallish continent from what I've understood (could be wrong?). I'd much rather expand out before doing something like the moon.
They were talking about Samurai before as tank but they didn't put it in cause of Ninja being new with the Japanese theme.
Samurai will be one cool tank :).
SAM > Heal
BLU > Tank
RDM > DPS
There you go.
Worked remarkably well in FFXI, actually. I wouldn't mind seeing it again to add some variety to the tanking jobs.
As for SAM healing, well, XIV could always DNC it up and make them melee DDs with the capacity for healing. Not that I see it happening, but hey, it's kinda remotely possible in some weird alternate universe. I'd rather them just have a DNC do that, though.
Hybrids in the trinity never did well historically. The shaman in World of Warcraft was a hybrid class once upon a time, but was later redesigned so that it must strictly focus into DD or heals. Instead, they should experiment with adding new roles into the game and divvying up the party responsibilities a bit more between them.
The only way I see Red Mage working while staying true to it's roots is:
- DPS, melee/caster hybrid.
- Uses both TP and MP, alternating between melee and magic while the other recharges.
- En-spells are stances; one buffs melee damage and regens MP, the other buffs magic and regens TP (and swaps STR with INT and skillspeed with spellspeed).
- Has one or two Clemency-like heals, not anything that can replace a real healer but useful utility.
- Has Refresh. Because.
As for Blue Mage... there is a precedent of them needing to be hit with attacks to learn them, so one could see a tank that builds up stacks upon taking (or blocking/parrying) hits that can then be spent on Blue Magic skills.
No need to get so defensive. I only said that the class has required getting hit in the past, not that that's the defining feature.
Summoner summons Hydaelyn confirmed.
I think you read to much into it. red and blue could me died colors.
they have said, never again they will release 3 jobs at the same time, then for the next expansion it will be 2 jobs max. Samurai will probably dps, like said by yoshida a few month ago, since add a fourth tank is not really needed.
for red mage it can be either a healer or a dps, maybe it will be the first hybrid jobs yoshida was talking about last years.
about the red or blue, is more about which magical jobs and in which order, don't hope to see 2 magical jobs at the same time since they don't have tons of magical jobs left.
The moon? Viera confirmed?
Viera were considered for Heavensward, but ended up cut because they decided that they looked too much like humans.
That was back when au ra were a lot more draconic/demonic.

I'm looking forward to Blue Mage.
As for settings for the next expansion, I'm certain it will be on the moon due to a certain CS in 2.0. But Yoshi did say he wanted to do flying and swimming, and ended up going with flying first. I'm also really hoping they do an Underworld setting like they had in FFIV.
Wrong. There was no 1.0 GLA skill that was anything like what Ilberd did, and later we find out the name of the skill is Sanguine Blade which has been a skill in FFXI that Paladins, Warriors, Dark Knights, Red Mages, Blue Mages, and Rune Fencers could use naturally.
Although some people will say this design is better I would have to disagree. Here AuRa look like mobs out of a dungeon and nothing more. They simply wouldn't fit as a playable race like that. As for Viera well I don't like them except if they make them really different than Miqote. I know some people will say that AuRa are like Miqote with scales but I don't agree. They have some design features that differentiate them from Miqote. You can really tell from far who is AuRa and who is not. If Viera can be really different then it's ok. I personally don't want more races in game. We have enough now and AuRa are still not blended well in game's storyline and Lore. Yoshi's office room clearly mentioned Doomtrain. I think that's the next new Primal and not Thordan EX. Thordan EX will come but it's not counting as a new primal.
I'd rather one combo into the other. That's how you make both sides of the hybrid mesh into each other. I'll point to WoW 3.0's Ret paladins if you need a point of reference.
I'll vote no on this because stance dancing is already enough of a pain on other jobs. Now enchants as a result of other actions would be interesting (and easier to manage), specially if you have a core skill that changes depending on what enchant is active.Quote:

100% agree. Funny thing is that something like Clemency is what I'd expect to see on RDM (minus the "heals you when used on someone else" bit).Quote:

No. Just no.Quote:

My sig. Read it.
Bite. Your. Tongue.

This all said, I'll admit I'm expecting to be disappointed with what they choose for RDM. This way if they do get the job right I'll be pleasantly surprised and sing their praises until the day I die. As long as it's not this shit again, we should be fine. Maybe...
I want dancer so hard ;-;
Which is annoying because aura ended up too much like humans in the end.
I keep seeing the female version of aura though. Does anyone have the male version?
Red mage reminds me of millia from ToX. I hope they use her as the template.
Underground? World of Darkness? And not the raid. More like the one in Ff4
I have two Red mage gameplay ideas:
A combo of weapon skill and magic.
Basically RDM will have weapon skill and magic, but they'll be used in a combo.
The magic spell default state has a short cast time, but if used in the combo it becomes insta cast.
For example:
WS > MS > WS > MS
The EN- spells should be oGCD and can be used either like life thrust which buffs one hit or like BoTD which has an upkeep.
My other idea is using a combo point system similar to rogues in WoW.
You basically use WS combo to rack up combo points to use a MS finisher.
The potency and cast time will differ depending on the amount of combo point you currently have
I really could care less about Samurai, lol
But Blue and Red Mage yes please
Still secretly wish it would of been Dancer
