Ff8 had motorcycles to... hell they were launched from an airship and landed from football field sized drops just fine on uneven surfaces lol. I drive motorcycles, unless they got massive shocks, thats an instant wreck.

YES please!!! I have the ps3 FF Advent version but I had to import it from abroad.
If you guys going to make a ps4 ff7 version please also sell it in the EU ;_; or EU store I am still patiently waiting to have a good reason to buy a ps4!
and about the bike who cares if its slow :P just add a little extra ability (like the ff6 mech or twintania) with a mini sprint, make it rev or make it do a wheelie or something :)
I dont see why they cant just make a turbo speed ability for it. Like how we have sprint. Mechanized choco mount has firing options for fun.
This is like telling us, "We were going to add something you really would have loved to have in game. The devs even had everything ready to go, but sorry kiddos, you can't have it." Funny that it's mentioned that the mount was "much slower than they wanted it to be..." when it seems that logic would indicate that the devs could code the bike to go as fast as they want. Unless all mounts are tied to a certain string of code dictating their speed?
Sorry, not trying to be rude. Just pointing out that it's such a tease to tell us what you told us! ha ha It would be the same as if I said, "Hey! I cooked you a nice juicy steak, just the way you like it, but it had a little piece of fat on it that I just couldn't stand the sight of so I tossed it out, and now you can't have it. Sorry." lol :P
You should relay to the dev team that we definitely do want Cloud's bike, and we don't want it on the cash shop, but obtainable in game! Please? :)
I would guess they've put all mounts on the same "speed" modifier, yes. And their "slower than they wanted" means basically that the speed set for mounts on the ground doesn't look good with a motorbike, unless you're putt-putt-putt cruising. Sure, they probably could modify the system to make it go faster than other ground mounts, but changing the speed balance by making one mount 'superior' in terms of speed isn't a good thing. Especially if they sold it on the Mogstation; it would make even more people cry p2w.
One thing I've been wanting since day one, however, is a 'mounted sprint', whether they call it 'spur' or something else (spur is the first word that comes to mind, but on the other hand spurs aren't necessarily animal-friendly). With such a system in place, it'd be fine (IMO) to have a motorbike puttering at the 'normal' mount speed, revving up when you hit the 'mount sprint' button. And Twelve know we're not really using that TP while mounted anyway ^_~
Well obviously the solution is to make the motorbike fly then!
/s, I'm just parodying the people who want the Goobbue, Fenrir, or the Tortoise to fly.
I don't see a reason not to increase ground mount speed though, if only by 50-100%. It's painfully slow in comparison to flying, and in a few interviews they said they might increase flying speed, so the speed difference will become more apparent.
While I probably wouldn't mind it if they did increase it, I'm not sure it would be a good idea to do so when the old areas are still the sizes they are today. Sure, some areas *coughLowerLaNosceacough* are obnoxious to traverse if you need to get to one end from the other, but in general I think it would only further the 'give me the goal NAO' mindset if they increased the speed the way things are now.
They have mentioned that making it possible to fly in old areas would require to re-create them with that in mind, and I'm kind of hoping they'll either expand them or merge some of them together if/when they do that. And if all areas, old and new, are more similar in size to the HW areas, then there wouldn't really be a problem increasing mount speed.
As for flying bikes... I'm sure they could make some neat animation to make the bike go from rolling-on-the-ground to hovering-in-the-air (like some movies do where cars go into flight mode by turning the wheels horizontal and somehow having those be the source of the anti-grav/jet-beams or whatever it is that makes the vehicle hover or fly). And with Allagan technology being what it is, and the Empire continuously scavenging and studying said technology, it doesn't really strike me as too implausible to introduce a motorbike somewhere down the line and have it fly. That way, it also wouldn't be as obvious a yoink! from FF7, but more a very strong nod in its direction, similar to the magitech mount's nod to FF6.
That's...not what an "easter egg" is. An "Easter Egg" is something semi-hidden that you stumble across.
I've been wanting them to merge the areas into one big world (or at least merge all of the regions together) for sometime now, but who knows if that will ever happen? Not until PS3 support is discontinued, that's for sure. I don't understand where you're coming from, travel is nothing more for me than clicking the autorun button, and chatting in FC chat, alt tabbing, whatever. Especially with flying where I don't have to worry about running into things. What's the problem with getting to your destination faster? Really, I don't see one possible negative to it, teleports are already over the place, so it's not like they want us to take a long time to get to our destinations. Mind sharing your reasoning for that?
I love your idea for the Allagan based bike (hoverbike maybe?), and I'd actually much prefer it over a Cloud bike. I dislike references that are all in your face, and besides, we already have his gear. His bike too? Why stop there, how about the Buster Sword, or how about we just drag Cloud into FFXIV like we did with Lightning? :p
Well, basically, the faster you go, the smaller the area seems to be. Which further trivializes the areas we have, in my eyes. They're already 'too small', and cutting down on the time it takes to get from one end to the other (ignoring Heavy, of course) would make them seem even smaller. If the only time we spend in a zone is when we travel from point A to B (in the beginning quest locations, later on aetheryte -> gathering nodes or hunt marks), I know I personally would prefer that said time wasn't made any shorter than it is in the old-world zones now ^^;
I'm not saying it's the same, and I know it's a fairly ridiculous comparison, but if you look at a small community or village, you wouldn't really set up highway speed limits through it, would you? Even discounting the risk for injuries to playing children and such (since we don't really have any player-to-player collision detection), would it be worth it? Sure, you could get to the community center and the shop(s) there 30 seconds faster, but do you need that? But if said shops were fifteen to twenty minutes away at 'village speed', through complete wilderness, then it could be worth it to set up higher speed limits ^_~
Yes, people teleport every which way, but that's not really travelling across a zone, that's travelling from one zone to another zone. (Well, alright, you can teleport to an aetheryte even if you're already in that zone, so it's not necessarily to another zone, but that's still the primary use.)
Not sure I can find the right words to translate my feelings, cos I'm not good at that kind of thing xD But I think people get used to higher speeds far too quickly (pun not intended).
I still remember getting my first chocobo (on an alt that used to be my main). Before then, me and my flatmate had run everywhere we could, or used chocobo porters/ferries. I honestly didn't use Teleport once during the first six months or so that I played. Return, yes, but not Teleport -- it was too expensive for my noob wallet. But after having those chocobos for less than a week, hopping over to an alt that didn't yet have chocobos was a pain. Using your own two feet to run somewhere was so slooooooow, and we couldn't wait till we got our chocobos.
Then Heavensward came out, and we got to fly. Omgsquee and all that. But... ground mounts now are just as slow as running seemed back then, and when we hopped over to one pair of alts that still didn't have chocobos? It was torture.
A complete side-note, that (which is why I decided to hide it), but... Part of my worry is also: If they increase ground mount speed, when will we start asking them to increase our base running speed? As it is, you can (if barely and for shorter stretches only) keep up with a chocobo by using sprint or Swiftsong.
So, ehrm... That kind of ended up longer than I intended it to be ^^; Sorry about that.
I dunno, I know its their game and they call the shots but not putting something they created in the game because they thought it was slow is disheartening. A lot of us wont care too much if its slow. People that hate on it can hate, not like its affecting their gaming experience by someone else using it.
What I want:
FFIV: Hovercraft
FFV: Wyvern
FFIX: The Gargant
This is from a Final Fantasy spin-off, but I'd like to see a Flammie or Mana Beast mount taken from the Mana series.
You know, if getting on the motorcycle shrunk you to 1/10th your normal size, it could go "full speed" and still move as fast as other mounts <_< It's all a matter of perspective!
Lol cerberus shrink size on bike would be pretty funny.
Theres tons of other possible mounts though, need to play some of the old titles again. The ff8 hoverboard really is an awesome idea though if we cant have the bike. They would prolly have to make new animation and/or positioning for it though.
Can we get phoenix as a mount!
OMEGA (FFV and FF13-2 bug look it's cool) MOUNT OR ROIT .... i'll even pay cash shop moneys for it.
While I appreciate the love that people share with Mounts from other games, I desperately want to keep mounts lore friendly and some are already really pushing it.
We don't even have a standard bicycle (Which I think would be a cute mount *rings bell*) why on earth would we have a motorcycle or a car when the Garleans do not even have them?
Perhaps, the Golden saucer could house such things in the form of racing mini games?
What about a giant blitzball mount?
