guess they should update the slide to show '8' instead of '0' for savage 4.

As much as I like data, I don't like outdated data...
E.g. the race distribution using all existing characters instead of the active ones.
Also, Badders are bad.
From the Market Board rankings, the Most Purchased items are shards and crystals.
They do realize we are generally buying these from bots, right? or do they just ignore that?
This is why: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/To_Die_For
Every miner does this quest. Most miners wind up with a stack or more of Jade before getting the twenty HQ Jade they need.
More than a Feeler is one of two Guildhests required for Main Scenario progression. EVERYONE does it at least once. And there are a lot of bubbles that are killed on each attempt...
Anyone that doesn't play AT LEAST 48 hours per day is filthy casual scum.
It's actually been TWO years since Release and there are people that dual box.
The slide has the number from last year, subtract that from this year's number then you have the amount in the last year according to the numbers they released. Dual boxing doesn't affect it, as they need multiple accounts to do it so they're counted as multiple people. Even if you do take the full number for 2 years, that leaves over 24 hours a day of average playtime. The only things I can assume is that they either randomly added all of 1.0's playtime this year and didn't have it counted last year, or that someone added a 0.
96.809.761.442h - 823.052.919h
/ (365 x 24h)
~ 10.957.386 players needed.
If we assume there's 1 digit too much...
9.680.976.144h - 823.052.919h
/ (365 x 24h)
~ 1.011.178 players needed.
9.680.976.144h - 823.052.919h
/ 5.000.000 (estimated subscribers)
/ 365 d
~4,8h /d
Seems more likely.
Based on this one...

Maybe they need to change the system if out of thousands of players on almost every server every week (since it's introduction?) play jumbo cactpot (assumption of 1000-3000 players per week x 103 jumbo cactpot draws x 65 worlds)...only a total of 378 across all worlds have won that 1mil MGP jackpot. 3551 have won around 100k MGP. 34,721 have won between 10-15k MGP from it. The other two tiers are such small rewards that they are barely worth caring about since you have to wait a week to potentially get less than two GATE's, the bottom tier actually losing you MGP if you 'win' and don't collect within hour of draw which tends to net you a loss of 20-50MGP or even if do collect within hour of draw only tends to net you maybe 15-30MGP. So I think they need to re-evaluate the jumbo cactpot system.
The only thing I would change with the Jumbo Cactpot is that, if your last number doesn't match, you break even with MGP (you win 100). The only reason I'd make this change is due to the fact that it's only one drawing a week. The Mini Cactpot serves as a much better MGP-sink and gives you plenty of opportunities to attempt to make some sort of profit. For the most part the Jumbo Cactpot is fine, it's cheap with the possibility of a high reward (1/10,000 odds isn't that bad in the long run). The 25-30 MGP loss seems kinda stupid though.
Yknow that number is actually quite reasonable if they add all those Bots, RMT in and especially those RMT lingering on Free Accounts that never make it to an subscription Account. No need to buy the game if you just bot shards. And most people can't see them either b/c they're poshacking underground.
Just saying :x
People setting their 'Return' destination as Ul'dah baffled me a little bit, especially considering that from either Limsa or Gridania, you can airship free to the Saucer and then get the free ride to Ul'dah. In fact, Ul'dah is #1 overall.
Maybe folks aren't aware of this?
It's not that low really. Consider that you can level multiple classes on one character. Then consider that most people don't level all their classes all the way to 60. For example, I leveled lancer just to unlock monk. Then I never touched the class again. (I know, I know, I'm a scrub for not getting Blood for Blood) But then you can also factor in that people are only leveling certain classes to unlock cross class abilities too.
My high levels are 60 Warrior and 50 monk. But I also have Conjurer at 7, Gladiator at 22, Lancer at 17, Ninja at 32. So I have a handful of extra classes I play and only one that is max level. However, ALL of these extra classes, a few I don't even play anymore, were all counted in the average.
Every class from every character, level 6 and above are included on the average level.
THAT is why the average is so low.
You know what I just noticed is missing from the statistics? PVP data.
It must be that bad.
The problem I have is that they also stated there was an increase of nearly a 118 times the previous years' number. If you do the math from that angle I get the a number similar to what they claim; 96.809.761.442. they must have had someone double check these figures. However, I think it would be great if SE would confirm the accuracy of the slide. Lots of people are doubting what was reported,
I find it hard to believe that Maelstrom is the least populated GC.
