Why did you even play in the first place lol

If you're bored, just find something else to do.
SE has been good so far about letting people catch up if they stop for whatever reason.
I leveled 2 jobs and my DoH/DoL, I do my expert roulette daily to cap eso, get alex drops weekly and cap my red scripts weekly, my static isn't up to savage yet and I haven't cleared the new ex primals, but yes I'm bored as well. A patch every 3 months or so and I'm busy for a month and wait around doing not much for 2 months. I wish there were more fc wide events that can be done in the vein of sky/sea/dynamis/salvage, etc. then I would have no complaints about enough content. /cheers
I don't get how can people get bored at all.
So far I got smn to full ilvl190 .still need to clear AS. need to get all my classes to 60 same for crafting ones. Missing 2 master books. Still need to get my folklore books , still need to do all my red scrip gear for hand and land. There's a few more bits to do and 3.1 round the corner means I need to hurry up cause relic is coming.
There's SO much to do , so I don't get how can people get bored with colossal amount of stuff to do!?
I'm enjoying myself so far and I like a challenge.
gathering
crafting
farming mats (from monsters?)
vanity gear
mini games at golden saucer
leveling multiple jobs
raiding
That's a lot of things to overlook... I am very curious to know what made people play this game in the first place, if the listed things are not something they find worth doing. Just doing the story once, seeing the dungeons and gearing up one job? Hey, don't get me wrong. Everyone is welcome here whatever their reasons are, but it's a bit weird to expect a game as vast as this to keep pumping out enough of some specific content to keep people occupied non-stop doing just that one thing.
Wavytiger, you mentioned you haven't done the new ex trials yet. Why not try to beat them with your static? It's something to do with the fc. Even if they have all done it before, they would probably be happy to do it again so you get your achievement. Afterwards, you could help some newcomers/crafters in your fc get them done as well. :)
bored?
QUICK! We better put caps on something else so he doesn't unsub!
1) nothing to say
2) the reason I still login, savage is really fun and I love to do it
3) not everyone want to waste time levelling jobs they would never play, I personally enjoy to play only SCH so I have no reasons for level other jobs. Plus 4 men dungeons are really boring, so levelling to me don't looks so appealing (no, Fate levelling is not contemplating. I play because I like to keep my mind busy, not for turn off my brain and spam the faster AoE for hours)
4) I think this involves how much time you want to spend in crafting, I took every master book I wanted because this system is pretty easy (and I'm not saying I don't like it, I prefer to change items for tokens instead hoping in the RNG)
5) grind
6) worst grind
Now, I personally login just for my boring daily expert roulette and for doing savage with my static (which I really enjoy to do).
I do, in one day, my 450 red crafting scrip and that's all.
There's so few thing to do, so I don't get how can people not get bored with this colossal lack of stuff to do.
Who is right? No one, of course, because the grade of enjoyment is really personal.
Someone don't like to do Savages and prefer do easy things, I don't like to level new classes or grind things, etcetera.
Now I will not refer to your messagge, but it's a general thing: guys if people complain that they're bored don't take it so personal, Square Enix is not you wife/husband and the game is not your child.
How you say ''meh, it's pointless to complain go to play something else'' I feel a lot more useless to stop every attempt to discuss why something for someone isn't working properly.
Btw, for saying what this game seriously lacks to my personal PoV: midcore contents, even without a reward.
I just want to do exciting things even if I'm in a light party, not just when I login for doing Savages (which, I'm not tired to say, are great and totally fun).
And possibly I don't want to grind things because Square Enix is scared about people who rush contents. If they want to rush something let them rush and don't let everyone else grind.
So yeah, I admit that at the moment if I'm not in raid I'm bored :)
Elisewin,
I would agree with you on the *go to play something else* story if it wasnt really the only viable solution for someone that comes on the board and say he is bored. It is clear that the game for someone bored lacks what he is looking for, only HE can say what he is looking for, nobody else, if it feels boring is not for you anymore or not presently, therefore the logical answer is, find somethng else that makes you happy, or happier. Iit is genuiely telling someone that rather then be unhappy, as you say he is not marrieD with the game, but complaining about bored, makes it sound as if it was THE only game available and that HE had to play that one only, it could find something more enjoyable. Idont see how this can be rude.
People also gave some suggestions, to change what they do, their routine, attempt something else, invent something that can be made within the game wiht a bunch of friends, I dont knwo something..but complaining wont make the boredom go away..nor does it exist a solution that will satisfy everybody..
Boredom to someone may not be the same boredom as another...
you want, someonewhat, a tailor made game for you that suits your need, but a game is a wide range, some will suit a category and some will suit another catory, how each is handling what they dont really like, is up to them, and coming here to complain how boring it is..is well silly. because it wont change anything at all

It's ok else but you coming across as someone that gets a game , rush thru it and move to next one. I personally enjoy (I do) getting everything out of it to 100%. Probably this game is not for you.
Here is a simple idea for those of you who most likely rushed through the content and are now bored, leave the game?
The problem is that in the most cases I see a lot of people really aggressive when it comes to defend their game, like it's impossible to dislike elements.
The point of a community forum isn't just showing screenshots, discuss over the story and things like that.
Is also giving a feedback.
You are so happy about, don't know, the colour of the sky in Sea of Clouds? Cool, it's a feedback and I saw a lot of threads about good things brought by 3.0 and they're fine.
You are disappointed about the face of Ravana? It's another feedback, why the positive one should be more useful?
Feedbacks are totally usefull, with feedbacks they understood what is working and what is not working for the community (or part of the community, since it's impossible to have everyone on one side).
And in the last 2 weeks I saw a lot of people complaining about the lack of mid-contents.
The point is here: I do enjoy this game because I find this is the only new MMO worthy to be played.
But even if I like this game I'm unbiased enough to see if something lacks or not to me.
I still play because I'm hoping for an improvement of the contents, that's the reason I don't feel the reason to change game.
So I don't think ''playing another game'' is the only viable solution (if you enjoy a part of the game, or if you have enjoyed in the past of these 2 years, of course), I prefer giving a feedback before just give up.
Then, if you tell me that some complaining threads/postes are empty and with no margin for a constructive dialogue I can't say that I disagree because you're totally right.
Of course if someone is complaing should also motivate and start a polite discussion.
Ah, and saying ''You have rushed everything! Leave, you felon!'' is pointless and stupid exactly as a thread who only say ''Meh, bored! Gimme a better game''.
And you can have a lot of similar examples in threads similar to this one, from both sides :p
I'm pretty bored too, but I think that's because I decided not to raid this time around - I just don't want to lock my social life after work behind "Am I raiding tonight?". That said, I've decided to try the new PvP stuff as I never did PvP in 2.0 and I'm also trying out new jobs and am seriously considering switching main to MCH after having been a DRG main since closed beta. There's always new stuff to discover, you just gotta look a little further than your usual list of daily things to complete ingame.
I do hope they'll increase the number of dungeons released each patch though, because after the sheer amount of content in 3.0, getting one new dungeon and two hard modes in October would be pretty disappointing.
Anything is content. You're just defining content as the stuff YOU are interested in, which seems to be the highest ilvl gear. Learn to appreciate other's point of view or at least get right with definitions, which btw:
con·tent2
ˈkäntent/
noun
noun: content; plural noun: contents
1. the things that are held or included in something...
Gordias (Savage) is part of the content of this game just as something as trivial for many as the new seasonal event or the mail moogle quests are.
Again, saying you have done everything, you have seen all there is too see and you are bored...well sorry but telling you *well in that case go beause since you have seen everything done everything and the like it means that the game is over right ? * so telling you to go is fair enough. Once the game is over, of course there is nothing left to do so time to change and if you think of it, you can only agree. Unless you repeat the game...so again, fair and honest answer to a described situation.
Same as* I did all the part I like, and since I cant do what I dont like, I am bored,* well for you as far as you are concerned the game is over too, so why you keep making yourself unhappy? best answer without sounding rude goa nd find something that will feel your needs.
For the rest, suggestions are good, but again, suggestions are made by an individual to suit himself and HIS needs rarely this of the masses. I can count on my fingers the number of threads that were showing suggestions as being profitable to the masses rather then the individual, they can at most be considered wishes.
I suppose each see what they wnat to see and understand wha the want to understand.

Well, you do gotta ask yourself, just how much do you think they're able to do in three months? How long do you think it takes to create a dungeon? Three dungeons in three months is actually pretty impressive, and they were really only able to manage it before because most of the 2.0 dungeons were designed specifically so that they could be reused for Hard Mode with only a few modifications. I'm not sure that the 3.0 dungeons were designed the same way. I'll be surprised if we wind up with more than two dungeons each major patch, this time around. Even if 3.0 dungeons WERE designed for reuse in the same way as 2.0 dungeons, there's a lot fewer of them; two Hard Modes each patch, and we'd run out awful fast!
As for this thread in general, for folks criticizing people for offering suggestions that are "boring" or "pointless", keep in mind that the OP started a thread in which he announced that he had done the things and was bored. Either he's just venting, or he's looking for suggestions for things to do. If he's venting, then there's really no need to respond at all, so it makes sense that folks are going to assume the latter and offer suggestions. There's clearly a lot the OP hasn't done yet in game, and what is boring or pointless to some may not be to others.
There may be no "useful" rewards from the Gold Saucer, but for many just playing the games, collecting the cards, racing the chocobos, are enjoyable even without them contributing to endgame raiding. The OP has obviously at least tried crafting, since he has ALC at 52 - but since all his other crafts are under level 10, it's clear that he's only seen a fraction of what crafting has to offer; the level 15 cross-class abilities really change the landscape of crafting, and that's to say nothing of what the level 50 cross-class abilities can do.
It's possible that none of these will appeal, but there's no harm in suggesting them.
Oh definitely, I think they're doing everything they can and I do see that the old dungeons were designed with remakes in mind. I just feel like they've really raised the bar with Heavensward and, y'know, their dev team has likely expanded a fair bit since the 2.1-2.2 days where these trends were introduced. I won't hold my breath for anything, though.
I totally agree here. HW added what 8 new dungeons? Yet only 2 of them are made relevant to max level characters, promoting extreme burnout.
Talk about an epic fail in design.
Seriously SE, you have the scaling system in place. Why this ridiculous segregation of content?!
They need to bring that disclaimer back.
Taking care of the majoirty of their players making sure that the scaling from 50 to 60 wasn't completely boring? Keeping the dungeon chain relevant for leveling for those who have more than one Job focus? That's not a failure at all. People who incinerate content at lightning speeds are burning themselves out. Just like they did in 2.0.
You want to help stem away that burnout, do Frontlines Roulette.
Right, because that disclaimer ever really made the difference in xi.
Uff me thinks I joined somewhere in 2.3. Not sure though.
I always found it ridiculous that expert was limited to the 3 newest dungeons and being the only proper source of [insert capped tome] though because I don't see the point.
But I know it'll relax when more dungeons become available. So I'll do the mature thing and NOT ocd cap to prevent burning myself out.
Indeed, although people would just whine that they were being anti-hardcore or something.
...and already we see this reply to that disclaimer...
It's YOUR choice whether or not to ignore it, but it's a step in the right direction, and a reminder that you're playing a game, not working a job, that it's a leisure activity and should not be taken too seriously. Sure many will ignore it, but if it helps some avoid burn out, or causes others to treat people more pleasantly, it's had a positive impact - unlike your comment.
Exactly. Content locusts quickly destroy the content leaving them nothing left to consume, and they wonder why there is nothing left to do....
Personally to avoid burnout I limit my playing (life tends to apply that limit for me....), play other games occasionally, step off the treadmill in-game, watch a movie (just watch a movie, don't play a game, tweet, watch a movie and have your PC running FFXIV all at the same time), hug someone IRL, eat out, walk in the sunshine, smell the roses, reflect on how well you treat others, and whether that impacts how they treat you, etc...
The problem is not the lack of difficulty. It is the lack of "fresh" content. FF has provided no new features in HW and has only given players 2 dungeons to grind and 1 normal raid and 1 savage raid that are the same in story and looks. Saying, "have you beat savage yet?" is a terrible way to persuade people to keep playing because all they are getting is the same dungeon, but harder.
"Players get bored when they run out of content (and this can mean hitting a brick wall in addition to just completing everything). Content doesn't mean something they could theoretically do just for the sake of doing something. It means something they are motivated to do. Some players might have fun completing every single quest, but that doesn't mean it counts as content for everyone."
GhostCrawler - World of Warcraft former lead developer.
The way people play, the only way to "maybe" keep people happy is to pour out fresh content every week, which, let's be honest, is a tremendous amount of effort and money on their part, if at all possible. Content is steady for an MMO, you bring content and drag it out as long as possible, untill next patch,
You're not going to make everyone happy, No matter how hard a company tries. the game is doing well, so it already speaks for it self. But you'll get topics like these saying "i did everything i wanted to do, so i'm bored, this sucks." I can guarantee you someone who only logs on to cap tomes per week then log off till reset is the person who will get bored the fastest.
The best advice I can give in these situations is don't do what the game has to offer as fast as you can. You're going to run in to that boredom a lot faster if you just blow through what the game has for you to play. What I found to keep me interested is I practice at roles I haven't had as a main in the past. Granted, it takes me longer to max out a job than most people, but my playing experience has had longer legs than others as well.
Also, and I know this is going to seem weird for an mmo, but there are people playing the game at the same time as you. Just start a conversation in shout and have some fun talking to other people instead of just running through the dungeons as fast as possible.
It's kind of sad that the expansion has only been out a month and a half and there is a semi serious discussion about being bored and a lack of content.
It's really not the lack of content that's the problem. There's plenty of content to do, and plenty of motivation to do so. However different strokes for different folks guarantee that some people are going to be bored no matter what they do.
It's not on the game developers to follow only one subset of the playerbase's motivations. They have to play the numbers game and appeal to a broad sense.
So in this particular case - there are questions to raise as to the motivations and the content of the game from the perspective of the player making the complaint. If they're only interested in casual dungeons and raids, did they do their Alexander normals? Cause at that point, the number of accessible content just shot up from 2 dungeons to 6, albeit 4 are on a weekly loot lockout. But if that player also does not mind PvP, that went from 6 possible instances to 9, counting Capture and Slaughter Separately. (or 7 if you're just counting the one new mode in Seize) And Frontline Roulette is Daily.
See where I'm coming from? All of that rewards progression. All of that is content to do that's 'fresh'. It may not be a brand new system (Aside from Frontlines: Seize) but content that matches the motivation is there. It's just not being experimented upon.
Now, if we're talking new spice for content coming up. One thing I would actually recommend for SE to consider to help slow down the burnout factor, is to start having dungeons with Variables to them. Something like Fractals could easily have randomized paths through the dungeon or different monster/boss spawns. That sort of minor variance would allow for far more fun enjoyed in the same number of dungeons produced, which would help stem the tide of boredom on repeated content.
Overall it would be really nice if we got a "Rouge-like" Dungeon setup for entertainment and grinding.
Its been coming up repeatedly. And id say its been around for a while. But while msq brought a reprieve from it, the lack of selection in roulette ex, the screwed with crafting and gathering, and in an ironic twist, normal alexander caused the problem to surface.
Im not saying getting rid of normal alex is the solution, im saying that normal alex shed light on a problem that already existed. One that people hoped HW would remedy by virtue of being "an expansion" as opposed to "the quarterly version update", they wanted something new awaiting them at msq's end, and a lot of people didn't find it.
I wanted to avoid that misconception. Its an improvement I agree. What im trying to say is that alex is not part of the problem, but it made people aware something was still missing with HW's endgame. Some of the complaints state they are back to doing the same thing in 2.0 as they were in 3.0.
I find it odd that Alexander Normal is being listed as a fault here. It's actually been a benefit for me. The normal version expanded what the average player could do in the course of a week's play beyond what would normally be done this content cycle.
As far as "There's nothing new at the end." Well, the expansion covered the level climb. That's patch one of the expansion. The problem is people are considering each patch something completely separate from the original design, and not as a part of it. At this point, the Expansion has barely begun. We haven't seen but its first part. Seeming that part covered 10 levels of content, 8 new dungeons, several new zones, etc. That's quite a bit.
Similarly, a Realm Reborn can be seen as the entirety of the 2.x series, rather than just its first patch.
So, from that perspective, I'd say the player-base is being rather unrealistic in their expectation. Now, if their argument were to say they would have preferred a delay on Alexander in trade for prioritizing the release of new content - that sort of argument I could get behind. But to say there's nothing new in the entirety of the expansion is just disingenuous.
That's not the problem. The problem is still that there is nothing NEW in Heavensward that has already been introduced in ARR. HW has no identity from the original game. It is the same everything with only 2 dungeon and 2 twin raids at the moment. Everything else is ARR content that has been extended out to HW, so it is understandable how people are getting bored real fast. I would agree with you if they did invite new ideas into HW for endgame content, but they didn't. In future patches there may be new ideas for HW and it could get better.
WHat exactly were you expecting? The story is the Indentity the reward system is the same because that is how this game has progressed. you expect them to remake the game like 1.0 from the ground up on every expansion? that probably wouldn't work out to well.
