lol ok ok, so if you're walking through the churning mist minding your own business, not really looking for trouble and suddenly you get an unprovoked attack from a Dragon, that slaps you about, breathes fire on you, bites you in half and stamps on your charred corpse remains, it's ok, but heaven forbid someone uses a 'slap' emote on you LMFAO :D

Alas there is no facepalm emote. But through clever use of game mechanics and emotes there's one sure fire way to get a palm to the face slow mo /slap .

Your example was PvP and not PvE, so I simply responded to your post, PvP.

Do the War 50-60 quests; you have to use the /slap emote a few times to progress lol.

OP must be new to the internet.

Do not know if the OP is serious or not, but I do enjoy the /slap emote. I slap my friends all the time, it feels good and i think its funny to see their reaction. They know i'm just joking around, but the reaction i get from it......feels good.

So while we're at it can we remove /pet? It's a plague to us Lalafells and I'm starting to get a bald spot.

Oh, come on. If you're going to troll, at least do us the courtesy of making it more believable.

I don't believe for a second that you found multiple people who freaked out over a simple /slap emote. If it happened in conjunction with some sort of legitimate harassment (i.e. stalking,) then maybe, but just the emote? Pfft!

Either you're making stuff up, or you're leaving out important details. And if it's the latter, I can guarantee that the /slap emote is hardly the core of the problem here.

I have a great deal of feminist sympathy but this particular stance is flawed in many ways:

1: The emote itself is entirely gender unbiased, both genders have equal access and there is no advantage to being male (there's no power difference unlike real life where men are typically physically stronger)
2: You have no way of knowing which gender uses it more often as a) you have only anecdotal evidence as to which characters use it most and b) you do not know the gender of the player, only the character.
3: Players have the ability to the message appearing (blist)

most importantly:

4: Removing the emote would not stop the abuse as long as custom emotes still exist. Your *fix* would fix nothing at all.

I would have more sympathy with the notion if it was just based on "violence should not be encouraged" but this is a game where you stab, slash, pummel or burn other people, even other players at every turn.

There are better battlegrounds than this.

Pretty much while I hardly post in this forum myself, lol. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother checking out this forum considering the way most conversations and threads go on here.

I knew about the latter using /comfort to cure "Misery", but no one ever told me that you can remove "Confuse" by using the /slap emote. I'll have to try that next time.

Emotes are emotes. Take them for what they are. Even /slap is fun when used properly. Don't punish us all because people don't know how to take it properly.

A raid mate started doing /slap emote on me once after I used like my 10th fantasia. I didn't get mad. Instead I started by playing along by doing /stagger motion. lol We did that for like 10 minutes.

Did my character get slapped several times. Yes. Did I feel harrassed? No. People grow up.

Everytime I see that I get wrathful. I know it's just a game, but behind every Char is a real person, and i don't want to be a witness of this mindless Violence.

first, this has to be one of the more wtf requests that i have seen on the forums. with that out of the way... sexism is a two way street. how some people think it is anything else is insane. then there is your "evidence". you are only going to see what you want to see, and you will view it in the way that is most convenient to you.

Where is the line? This thread is the stupidest thing I've seen in such a long time. I know you want to be commended for standing up for women's rights or something, but this is so stupid.

I don't know about you all, but FFXIV is how I sublimate my irrational, seething contempt for women. That's why I rolled a cat F - it's my effigy to burn, electrocute, drop, throw, impale, mutilate, batter, bruise and humiliate by leveling ALC.

By the same token, I rolled MNK because I'm into anal fisting. It only makes sense.

i have a macro that uses the snowball throw with (Celestial void punches <t> in the face) this has butthurt a league of people and i just find it hilarious people get upset by game emotes

OP is the hypocrite of the century. How many women were killed getting thru the main story? Have you posted about any of them? nah?

The solution you propose is more akin to totalitarian esque censorship than dealing with any relevant social issues. This is by and far the most ridiculous thread Ive seen on this page.
