Well, that sucks :(. Freeze looks so damn awesome, I'd love to see a job that specializes in frost for this game.
Time Mage sounds pretty cool tho, that could lead to a lot of interesting mechanics.

I would certainly love to see them implement something like Necromancer or Red Mage as DPS, since they seem to be strong contenders for interesting class diversity. Weapon wise, Red Mage would be dual rapier and Necromancers would use aether infused skulls as catalysts for their magic.
A part of me wishes our current SMN's were called Evokers instead, so we could have a grander SMN class.
It's not like 3 out of the 5 items in my sig are connected to RDM in some way. >.>;;;
As I mentioned elsewhere, I also want to see BLU enter as a ranged caster of sorts. Some weren;t keen on my Geomancer as a healer suggestion, so that entering as a caster DPS to join SMN and BLM would also work.
Would like that the next dps be a full pet controler. Like a Necro as it has been mentioned earlier, or a "druid"/shaman.
2nd job (like from main normals) so example Lancers then you have Dragoon or Samurai/ THM > BLM or TiM/ Rogue > Ninja or Thief
I think that the next dps should be a caster mainly due to the fact that the last two we got were a melee and a ranged physical
Yes caster DPS would be great (Time Mage/Blue Mage/Sage/Devout (Seer)/Green Mage)
We need a new magic DPS class. So far we have three healer classes but only two magic DPS. Red Mage has my vote, mostly because of their snazzy fashion sense, but I'll take what I can get. I'd also like the Samurai class.
Samurai please.
Samurai. I wouldnt mind red mage either. As long as both dont have anything resembling mudras lol I'm pretty uninspired by the current dps outside of maaaybe monk it seems :/. I'll still get more of em to 60 just to be sure.
Red Mage / Mystic Knight sounds like a solid choice. I'm also reasonably sure we'll see Samurai in the next batch of jobs, I recall them saying it did cross their minds for the expansion, but thought with the addition of Ninja they didn't want to go overboard with the asian roots thing. It is one of the more popular remaining jobs along with red/blue mage after all. I think AST pretty much covers Time Mage as part of a hybrid...while there's no (party) haste/slow they have Gravity and various time-tinkering spells.
Red Mage is the only job from FF1 not present, gets my vote.
Samurai :)
Red Mage - DPS, Melee Caster
Elemental stance dancing. Has standard DPS rotations, but different abilities modified by En-Fire/En-Ice/En-Lightning. Fire drains mana and does more damage on certain skills, Ice regens MP and slows/heavies, Lightning does DOTs and stun. Raid utility comes from En-Shields of various elements, reducing either incoming physical or magic damage and adding damage on-tank-hit.
Dancer - Healer, Mid-Range Healer
Another stance dancing (lol) class. Dances between different debuffs on enemies within a radius and buffs on players. Pulsing abilities that can be switched between damage (DOT that stays on while dancing) healing (weak regen effect), or mitigation (weak resistance up trait). A trait later on allows the dance to last 10 seconds after switching to another dance, with a 10 sec recast on the dance-switch mechanic, so you can maintain two buffs at a time with proper dancing. Could do something weird with dances requiring intermittent moves like Ninjitsu, but might be a bit meh.
Honestly, tried to think of a new tank but there doesn't appear to be a "clean" candidate from past FF games. Maybe something like Mystic Knight? But we just got an MP tank... or a Beastmaster Tank? Would be kind of odd.
So, i said 'puppetmaster' before, but I forgot to point out one important caveat: it needs to be way more innovative than just monk with pet.
We need more Support jobs. If the community keeps complaining about DPS players not being strong players, we need to get jobs that give damage buffs and stuff.
i doubt we will see something like FFXI pup , same goes for BLU , both jobs were awesome in FFXI , because the gameplay and the "mechanics" were about OPTIONS
but FFXIV dislike "OPTIONS" , u wont see a FFXIV blu that can be a caster , melee , healer , tankr , or a mix of all of this
same goes for PUP , u wont see PUP having rdm , whm , blm , pld , ranger automatons...
Samurai
Weapon: great katana
Role: Tank
Puppetmaster
Weapon: giant scissors
Role: melee DPS with customizable pet
Dancer
Weapon: lol bracelets
Role: healer/support
Beastmaster
Weapon: hatchet
Role: melee dps with tamed pet
Red Mage
Weapon: Rapier
Role: DoM melee with weapon enchants
Green mage/geomancer
Weapon: an elemental
Role: ranged DoM dps
There's alot of ways they can go. I'm really hoping for my giant scissors pup...man I would be so creepy
Hearing so many good ideas in here but even though I have given my two ideas form "what I know" of jobs throughout the series I would love to see some original jobs or something different, just so long as it is cool and plays well. Samurai has to happen and then surprise with the other new job.
I think they are only going to have two new jobs for 4.0 because they flat out said that they would probably never release three again because it was too hard and time consuming to do and balance. So we will probably get two, one at the start of the expansion and one in the middle??? Who knows.
I think Samurai and Beast Master have a really good chance. Remember in actions and traits menu "pets" isn't used, and when you think about it DRK attack stance does resemble of what a samurai would do. Even drks law weapon...
I would want something new and more interesting than just a Samurai.
One idea I had, was something like a Physic, that can teleport as an important part of their rotation.
They could cast spells at range, with most spells being instant, and the difficulty would come with some other mechanic... But a big part of their rotation, would be to teleport to the enemy, and continue attacking using a weapon that they enhance or something. Then they teleport back to casting spells at range. What weapon they would use I don't know, but I love rapiers.
That's just me coming up with something just now, but I think it's kinda boring to just think about if it's going to be ranged or melee, then if they look cool or not... I care mostly about getting something unique and interesting in terms of skills and playstyle.
Play style is going to be the biggest thing. We have 3 melee dps/tank/heal. We have 2 physical/magic range. Given the breakdown, you would think next jobs will be 1 physical, 1 magical range.
Beast master using whip and pet (physical range) and dancer (magic range) could fill those roles
Inquisitor.
Taking conjury and a little bit of thaumaturgy to it's fullest potentional to punish heathens.
Seems somewhat fitting to the current theme we got right now. <.<
Some with a gun blade lol living my "squall fantasy"
But seriously I like the physic job idea, DRK should have never been a tank lol there goes my x-2 fantasy with the really longs swords that did massive dmg instead we have a not so much tank -_-
Please, not Samurai as a DPS...
I have this dream of a japanese themed team, consisting of:
- Samurai Tank
- Ninja DPS
- Shrine Priestess/Miko Healer
Please don't ruin this dream... >.<
Samurai is all but confirmed that it will be coming out, we just don't know when. As for a melee caster I agree that Red Mage or some form of Rune Fencer would be ideal. As for the caster next I put together a little thing that didn't get much response, but I proposed a psychic class.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...8Caster-DPS%29 in case anyone wants to check it out but it is a bit of a lengthy post.
Samurai would likely be a tank as Yoshi P said that when deciding the next tank class his choices were DRK or SAM and he choose DRK.
But wernt SAM a DPS class in FFXIV meanwhile DRK was a tank (with warrior sub) ?
