Single target and getting almost all good dps cards you only buff by like ≤5% ~ 40-50 DPS on full i180 DPS as Astrologian.
I didn't test on full party but it's RNG based and it won't even be close to what a Scholar can do DPSing.
I did 3-4 times that much very easily on T13 as Scholar while healing in 2.X, no problem.


Aswell as people talking about the Ravana Extreme solo heal...
Don't use that as a measure to see if a job is good, even though Ravana Extreme solo tank is easy to heal, it might just be the player that is good, and that doesn't mean Scholar or White Mage couldn't do it with much, much less effort.

I've co-healed as WHM with AST several times - I never saw nor felt a problem with them. >_> At one point I felt my presence was a general overheal until heavier mechanics/shit happens. There is nothing wrong with AST.
Either the guy wasn't paying attention to the real issues or is a little stuck in the old ways (hence asking for SCH+WHM duo).

From like 99% of Astrologians i have been with they are damn good even better then white mages and scholars 9not always mind you)

While I had both on lv50! (same gears + lv130 weap) The astro his MP cost are actually way lower (around 1/3) then on a whm. <-<

Im playing mainly astro too almost lv60. My 1st problem(like every1 else had) was that last CRAZY OP boss in Ishgard-Church with his totaly unfair + op atks! >-> (Not cool.. the chains and fire AoE zones same colour like the ground)


Im using very often the cards Jar(lesser MP costs) and Spear(CD of skills running faster ) to save my MP.

AST is not a worse healing job than WHM or SCH. The thing is, AST has the highest skill cap of any job in game, so there are a lot more bad AST than there are good ones. So there is this bias against them. Plus people want to compare specific aspects of the job to WHM or SCH without looking at the job as a whole. A good AST is equally as valuable as a WHM and SCH.

The AST heals are the same as sch and WHM as I've tested it (WHM being burst, sch barrier/sustain and AST being super fast heals with a little of regen or barrier). The only thing I've noticed on AST is the lack of DPS department they buffed WHM and sch is really strong DPS, and programmers now include ex/alex savage fights with healer DPS in mind so i can see a bit why people are being jobcists.

Still with the correct amount of skills they can erase any lack of DPS, yes it takes more effort (seriously see the top players and they break the estimated DPS records).

Doesn't help when the general consensus is that DRK is in a bad place and (obviously) MCH is in a horrible place. "New jobs = useless" sort of mentality.

AST doesnt have "fast heals", where is that coming from...

3 diferent instant heal skills + lightspeed

Reminds me of when Garuda Ex first came out, and all of the NO MELEE!! PF listings

oh this is nothing. you know what? Drk has some annoying bugs right now. but we can still tank fine if we focus. so i queue daily expert roulette right.

we get neverreap or how its called (the sky one). i say hi and all...and then "oh god no a drk...lets kick him." i thought "what?" so i said im perfectly capable of tanking 4 man dungeons. he started discussing with me. i pull they dont do shit i die, they die. after 4 minutes discussing and not doing anything they kicked me.

Honestly, if you're being kicked before even reaching the first boss OR being kicked on the the first try of something, report it if you grab a screenshot or are recording it. If a party is going to kick someone, say why, so they don't end up reporting the entire party for harassment. You might not be the first person they have done it to.

I have some what the same experience thou I didn't get kicke. In dungeons tanks in a hurry and don't wait for buff's so i don't heal them also if any leader of player are an ass I won't heal them I even dropped out it's not worth my time nor effort

All I see in this topic is people complaining about being treated how they probably treated a dragoon. I seriously need some wine for this.

In a separate department, though, If you are genuinely trying I'm fibe with you. What made me laugh, however, was when a bad AST blamed our warrior tank as being "unable" to do the pull as a warrior, when we had done it MULTIPLE TIMES with other healers.

Simply put, good healers are what I care about, not which one you are.

Essential Dignity- Annoying 40 second cd
Aspected Benefic- annoyingly low potency
Enhanced Benefic II- Doesn't proc when i need it, but always procs at the end of trash pulls.
Lightspeed- reduces effectiveness so much its only worth it if your about to spam helios/aspected helios.

Our fast heals can be pretty underpowered in a do-or-die situation.
