Stats are horribly balanced as is and you want more???
Maybe we should just go to FFXI method where some stats weren't the real value and you had to calculate with some crazy math to figure out the true stat value? /sarcasm

Yeah, you clearly have absolutely no idea how stats actually work if you think you're getting the highest damage output possible with just the harpoon. Wow. Just wow.
Edit:
So let me fill you in on the most basic of basics:
You see those 6 main stats? Those stats alone don't determine everything and in fact they govern other sub-stats like accuracy, attack power, enfeebling effect potency, magic evasion and evasion. Not only that but some classes have special modifiers for certain stats that affect their auto-attack & weapon skill damage, among other factors.
It's okay Wolfie.
We won't judge you.

Ok I'm done with this thread
Stats work, Keftenk/Kaeko and Seiken (I think thats his name, sorry!) have done extensive stat testing and they all work. The only exception is Defense on high level enemies.
And LOL @ Gramul
Adding stats without a need for them isn't adding variety, it's adding more balancing headaches and most likely redundancy. In other words, don't quit your day job. Game design simply is not your forte.
Nice way to selectively pick out posts to prey on. Conveniently ignoring my posts, as well as Estellios who mentioned the actual stat testing that has been done.
To reiterate though, defense is really the only stat that doesn't work as it should. Though you'd know that if you knew how stats actually worked.
So now they influence some? Switching your argument a bit from them not working at all.
Those two issues are so closely tied that you cannot discuss one without the other. You have no right asking the devs to add more stats to the game when you have absolutely no grasp on how current stats work.
"More stats effecting more various aspects of a character allows for greater playstyle diversity, I love the idea. "
Yoshi himself wants players to be unique in play style, this would help it.
Why is it everytime I enter a Rokien thread, I start getting a migraine...?
I'd love a link to where that quote comes from.
Convoluted, complex stat systems that are complex for the sake of being complex does not aid in unique play styles. It makes them more confusing and difficult to set up. With the stats we currently have, there are a variety of play styles that one could utilize. Most people go with the cookie-cutter standard but that's more of an issue with the community than how the stats work.
You know how I roll my luck? For example: you need a piece of tape and 1k coins and a casino 777 machine. Procedure.
Tape L1 and leave it for about 10 hours and go to sleep. Next day you will have 9k coins and lots of luck streaks. That's how my luck rolls, at least in ff-xIII -2
dont need other stats that will just make harder on them trying to make a piece of equip with decent stats
... this thread... it won't die! Rokien's a necromancer!!
I don't want more stats. it just dilutes the meaning of each one further. Don't we have enough?
Give us Card-Master when they bring a in-game card game.
Make the primary attribute luck and dex and you got a deal.
D-d-d-d-d-duel!
I could request that a sentry cannon be added to the entryways of all the major cities and at each aetheryte camp. Everytime you get within 20 feet of it, it shoots you in the chest with a high velocity bean bag that deals 2000 damage and inflicts a 200HP bleeding DoT.
It adds to the game after all.
It would "add to the game" if we had a giant monolith rise out of the ground and if it rained cats and dogs. But not everything that would "add to" the game should be.
Adds to the game, subtracts from the number of subscribers.
LOL no, in fact I would suggest this game consolidating more of its stats, this game has waaayyyyy too many stats.
Simplifying stats such as ..
2 Str = 1 Attack
2 Dex = 1 Agility
2 Int = 1 Mag Attack
etc..
Instead we have Str and Attack which do different things depending on the stat values of the monster in question.
No wonder there is so much confusion about what stats are best suited to which class/job.
Base weapon damage needs to go and a DPS calculation should be added into the gear/attributes window based on a players total stats.
