If this were a Princess Bride MMO, I'd be fine with rodents of unusual size... but it's not.

and let's not forget the biggest and most popular case of over-sized animals

I'm fairly sure giant toads and gnats are now rendered to very minor and trivial things after watching those.
Honestly I think the devs misinterpreted the original request. I don't believe it was to make the mobs giant. Rather the area where we click and target the mobs bigger. Right now, most of the mobs still have that tiny click and target area while the mobs themselves are now way too big. I really can't see in the dungeon with a toad sitting on me, it's annoying. Yes, I prefer the original size of the mobs. To me the larger size doesn't make them more "dangerous". It makes them... oversize, and player characters seems disproportionate compared to the monsters. The world was designed as a set, just making one set of the world bigger seems... lazy? It kind of ruins the "balance" in terms of the relationship between NPCs, monsters, and players. The new monsters Batraal and Ogre is fine, so is the Great Buffalo, they were meant to be gigantic. Gnats and marmots however, was not.
honestly although it sounds bad, its really a problem on gnats and toads for me, as a pugilist, the biggest problem is they still have a very small hitbox, pugilist has less range, so you actually have to get inside of a toad to hit them, if you actually stand close to them, you are out of range of their hitbox.
With gnats its also annoying because since they disappear often, needing one more step than feels natural to hit them makes them more annoying, but its not the end of the world
Thing to understand is Toads were already pretty big, when they made them bigger they introduced some issues, especially for pugilists. The really need to go back and alter the hitboxes of larger monsters so that your not out of range when you are an inch away from their faces.
All in all though i would put this pretty low on the list of issues to deal with, although i dont know why they created the issue to begin with, i dont really feel making them bigger than before helped/made the game better in any way
I think some monsters are nice larger but the couple mentioned are a bit too large. Maybe they just did a quick overall size increase on everything and they plan to adjust later after receiving feedback.
Horsegoats are cool. Mice and marmots are good. Toads I think are too large and the majority seems to think so too. Efts are a bit large. Gnats I am on the fence about. What else is there.... Great buffalo!! NM's have no limit!
I just did a Leve that required me to kill 7 Dream Toads. I could barely target anything. I fell inside them dozens of times. And I could barely see myself half the time.
It was easily the most fun I have had on a leve in this game, ever. Seriously, no sarcasm intended. I love the fact that they are ridiculously over sized and they make it difficult to see what you are doing. I would, however, be willing to accept Dreamtoads that Start out like normal toads shape and then puff up to ridiculously big.
If you care so much about the collision detection maybe you shouldn't have complained until they removed in from the game...
i like there size, toads for sure are fine, gnats are awesome to kill and visually see there deaths ..didn't notice it till there size was boosted on how funny they die. bigger mobs are usually funner to kill. just nothing like dhalmels, i hated targeting those in ffxi as a taru, it was very aquard ...if make them that big or tall, gotta make a better way to see them or target them maybe. perhaps it goes into aerial views on huge mobs like that, or option too click that on in menu, if not one and i not notice we have that option.
Maybe S.E have only buffed them up to this size temporarily as a way to show off and go "Look, even this big their texture and detail is still amazing".
Or perhaps the entire thing has something to do with Dalamund, I mean, that's a constant on-going event thing with lots of mini-events in it. Big red glowing moon thing causes excessive monster growth as well as glowing rats maybe?
was probably cause the targeting system sucked and tiny creatures only made it just as hard to target. then giant little creatures probably wouldn't make sense having with big creatures that are just bout the same size. so they just zoomed them all up. lol. but i still do think bigger is cooler, to a point. what we have now is just fine to me, not had any targeting issues even for great buffalo. nothing like dhalmels in game yet. then it will get anoying.
I am glad someone made a thread about this. Leves that have toads as targets get a little obnoxious, expecially when I end up fighting two at once and keep getting jerked around and somehow my camera can only find the inside or broad side of a toad and I can see what the hell I am doing.
This may sound like a dumb way to put it, but the point of targeting on the toad could be moved a bit more to the face region instead of the middle of the toad. That way you don't have to sit in its mouth to hit the thing. If that makes any sense. Or you could just make it smaller. I like fighting big scary beasties though.
Y'know what'd be funny?

reduce their size by 1/2
/thread
I feel that the elementals and cactuars are too large now.
Toads need to be nerfed for their annoying as hell tongue.
Fat Dodo are toofa..overweight, please fix this SE! ;_; It's just not right:mad:!
Reduce Toads back to their original size, they were already big enough to be called Gigatoad >_> It's strange that Toads got significantly inflated in size and yet Peiste or Great Buffalo aren't.
I'm extremely disappointed by the fact that they don't have the ability to eat whole lalas. Seems like a missed opportunity...
Yes, please reduce their size.
Here is my epic toad picture
I think Gnats should be smaller. And why do they have Lightning attacks?? >_>
The roegadyn are too fat on my screen, I demand that they be toned down to accommodate it..
My only issue with the toads and gnats is that if creatures that could zap you to death or eat galka sized adventurers in one gulp really lived just outside of major cities, they would be hunted down to extinction so fast, people would forget they existed in short order. Ditto for the dog sized mosquito's. But hey, its fantasy.
