PAX Gear Preview For BLM?? Seriously??

I know the new monk gear is a throwback to an older final fantasy, but just once I wish not all of our outfits made us look like hobos ...

You are entitled to your own opinions I guess.
Just note that that preview will not be the ONLY armor set of the expansion. If you're lucky it won't be the strongest/BiS set either.

I will have to disagree with you because personally I think that weapon looks super cool.
I also disagree with what you said about the Evenstar set. The typical/archtypical "mage hat" that everyone wears is just too out of style for me. I thought the new age magician look was actually pretty cool.

I snapshotted someone I ran across wearing the Evenstar hat who I thought looked nice. It's a Lalafell, but it's a male all the same:

I'm not really into Lalafells but I think this looks like a very respectable and dignified gentleman.

As long as the new mage gear has a backside idc. I am so tired of all the mage gear being butt-less. I mean I am a mage studying the arts of aetheric manipulation, not someone going to a fetish ball.

BLM AF2 isn't like the Evenstar gear. It really look good, i think. Like an army uniform from the 18th century.

The hat reminds me of a Conquistador helmet. I'd personally glamour over it, but I don't think it's deserving of mass outrage.

That's scholar. I donno why scholars hate it, unless they're tired of steampunk and in that case I'm down with them.

With the exception of the thigh-high boots and hat (which I'll glamour) I m actually pleased with the new BLM since it's not a robe.

I'd rather they add more short robes/bliauds then yet another robe.

Edit: Maybe the males will have slightly different look?

If SE have learned something from all the DRG AF complains then the gear will be the same for male and female.
Also, except for the hat maybe, the BLM AF2 is already very unisex.

I can fully understand the new af gear, we are going to Ishgard after all so they make alot of sense actually

Blm - inquisition soldier mage
Whm - priest/sister of the Ishgard clergy
Pld - church knight in truth rather than just in name
Summoner makes me wonder if summoners are accepted in Ishgard more, that is an impressive horn and the gear is almost holy looking.. it is curiosity inducing

It fits the overall theme of where we are going

I really love the Evenstar set, my male Elezen looks dashing in it, boots and hat included. I really dislike the horrible robes and wizard hats in this game, some even make you look like some hobo living in the streets. FF XIV has the worst mage sets I've seen so far.

As a sch I love the new look, when it comes to the 3 healers I think whm looks the most awful, but maybe that is because we see it on a Lala and nothing looks the same on a lala vs normally proportioned characters so I will wait and see.

I hate it when we see new gear only on a Lala, you never really know what it will look like on a different race.

To me the DRG-Dreadwyrm set is the most awesome looking armor in the game, to others it looks ridiculous. I like Au'ra, others think the males look hideous. So whatever SE does, there's gonna be ppl that love it/hate it/don't care.
Personally i agree: AF is iconic sets, and this AF2 doesn't look "BLM iconic" and to whoever mentioned Black Walz, this set looks nothing like it.

lol I love the bard gear for its over the top colorfulness! Running around in the Amon set with the huge ridonkulous hat with the big floofy bouncy feather plume, there's nothing better. XD

I'm also liking this new BLM gear, though I'm curious to see exactly what it will look like on males, don't have a clear picture of that yet.

I like how people are saying just glamour over it. Our options are limited to about 7 unique robes, and even then most of them are based off a previous ones design.

Like I said in similar threads, this is not blm gear. It's more toward red mage/ musketeer.

Just cause you have a glamour system, doesn't mean you can half ass gear design, which is what the blm gear designer has clearly been doing.

I kind of like the new AF2 sets. I'm honestly not a fan of the skirt, but it's a lot better than a robe.

the normal undyed af 1 was the reason i started as thm in he first place but well as i said opinions differ i dont like the af 2 look and thats perfectly fine for me if someone likes it its fine too

IMO, they have a bad habit of making players look foolish with mainly the head gear designs, just hideous!!!!

The blm outfit the op mentioned is not too bad except for the laughable hat....again. ewwwwww.

Some may love it and thats a good thing!!, but I will definately glamour over most of the outfit as my main is blm.

I really wish though they start to design gear that looks less circus/joke/foolish like....or at least offer some more options for glamour for those that dont like to look like a circus employee...we are stuck using the same few items over and over...you only need to glance at ppls glamour to see what is popular. (this is just my view but, its kinda sad that underwear looks better then actual fighting gear).

Add in more stylish gear for ppl to use as glamour then idc what af looks like as long as I have more options then now to glamour over it.

Dont get me wrong games like WOW have the worst gear designs in history imo...just painted on garbage lol

Ffxiv DOES have some really good artistic talent!! unfortunately they are just leaning towards a bit goofy looking as an overall style which is really too bad :(

There isn't a single decent mage set in the entire game. Most of it looks the same, incredibly lazy designs.

You'd expect catalysts of destruction to look the part of the job, not as jesters. (Yea, I know, FF has a history of making BLMs look like jesters)

Less magicians and jesters, and more instruments of destruction plz. If the Dreadwyrm set didn't give you a sailboat hat and actually made the wings on your back, then it'd be much more intimidating. Also, purple? Err
