I dunno, I'm kinda partial to the cashmere. Before this, I glamoured the Acolyte set, but I'm a sucker for dyeables.
Personally, I like glamours because they help me evoke a certain mood/feeling to my character.

I like to glamor, I actually have been grinding the snot out of PvP to get the groovy gear and will work towards a particular piece of gear JUST for glamor. However, when I don't glamor is when it is a temporary piece of gear, something that I, while leveling or getting the stat gear, will be replaced in like a day, I don't bother wasting the time or money glamoring. Once I have my stat gear that will last a while, I start finding the look I want for the Job I am.
I glamour everything, even to the extent of glamouring over the various accessories.
I have the Artbook and in the section showing off all the armor sets the Noct set has a full helm. The model is in game, but it actually used for the "Imitation Mistbeard Helm." This is actually the second time this has been done with the helm of a tank set. The Armor of Light set from CT1 also had this happen, and it looks like it will happen a 3rd time with the Cecil style Dark Knight Helm in Heavensward
I find glamouring to be a pointless waste of gil. I can use that gil towards things I actually care about.
I guess I kinda look at it like I look at everyday life. I don't walk around in-real-life looking like a hot mess, I won't do it on my video game character either. ;)
Hilariously, I plan on keeping myself glamoured in AF/Myth on PLD up until AF2 because it actually makes me look somewhat unique... no one still wears it. xD I showed up at a friend's wedding in it and everyone complimented me because the white and blue armor looked perfectly regal for the ceremony.
I glamour but it's rare. Other people might not agree with me but I feel like glamour options for DRG are utterly horrible. Everything looks ugly unless you make yourself look like a thug/pirate which I currently have my drg looking like even though I don't really want it. Aside from the drg myth gear there's really been nothing else I thought looked good. (Actually the maelstrom gear is real sexy, too bad i'm not maelstrom though)
Oi, glad this conversation's still going.
These are all neat answers; some I never really considered myself... honestly, glamor is an endgame goal for me, haha. I love collecting armor sets, even if they don't ever drop.. (come ON Shikaree doublet just appear for godsake).
Hey, if you don't care, that's fine. Not everyone cares and I get that. But I just love seeing what people can think up and looking at all their stuff.
i'll glamour if somethings ugly and i can think of a better item look for it but thats about it
alot of people in my opinion glamour way too much and they end up looking really tacky trying to be some sort of fashionista
The Wootz gear looks great on dragoon, so that's about the only thing I don't have glamoured. I only have the chest so far, though. I have the WoD gloves and leather boots on until I can finish getting the Wootz set.
I don't glamour some jobs, but that's just because I'll glamour too often, and I like some of the gear sets...other than that. I try to glamour as often as I can :)
Just a tad hard with my tanks, and those are my mains :(

Neat info. You make me want to buy that minion that comes with a free art book even more!
All this stuff about how gear looks. And while you can right-click on a link and try it on, I wish you can do the same before you roll on something, so have some idea what it looks like, before you even roll on it. Feature needs to be added. Finding out what it looks like after someone wins it, is... meh....
I think some end game armor actually does look nice on it's own. I usually only glamour after I get tired of it. Although I'm running out of ideas for things to put together. x.x
I am focusing on leveling now and I don't bother with glamour while leveling because it is too expensive/annoying. I do use (cheap) dye, which helps, but . . . my poor botanist is still stuck in a coatee, poofy pants, and clogs. >.<
For classes I have at 50, I have only glamoured a few pieces that are either my favorites or because I can't stand the original look. It seems like a waste of gil to go all out with the glamours for classes I will hardly touch until 3.0, when I am probably going to be fantasia'ing and getting new gear anyway.
While I do have some pieces of gear glamoured, it's only to avoid certain pieces of gears that I really dislike the look of (namely the Soldiery gear like the Auroral and Gloam Tabards). I generally like having all the gear without glamours, but certain pieces just irk me.
My Monk, however, is the only exception where I glamoured all the gear. Made it look as much like Chun Li as I could, because I love Street Fighter and she's always one of my mains. Haha :P
I'm a glamour whore. But, some of the vanilla gear sets look hawt. Any of the full HA sets is just amazing.
Because most of the DRG gearsets are gorgeous, the Ironworks especially. And that's what I have right now.
I have yet to find a glamour worth putting a lot of effort in.
Only things I use Galmour for is the accessories so I can use The Emperor's New Accessories to hide the accessories on my character due to baving no hide accessory button in this game.
I don't like the DRG Ironworks. That's why I glamour!

I'm a mixture of the two:
For most of my characters, I don't really have a NEED for glamour as most of the sets are pretty good on their own(Soldiery Cloth and Monk gear for example) and even other sets that I aim for can still look well done with other gear pieces of the same Ilvl..
But then there's rubbish like Noct Lorica...and then I just go get that fixed with CT Tank gear instead.
The fact that I have a Syrcus Tower on the market board doesn't mean that glamour has to be expensive. o.O
Seriously, the mats can be obtained for a few hundred gil and given to a crafter to assemble. The prisms themselves are usually 2-3k on the market board. A simple run through roulette on the "in need" class gets you more than that.
The gear designed for the sole purpose of glamour are all extremely difficult and expensive to acquire. They either need extremely dedicated crafters to produce or use extremely rare and expensive materials.. For level 1 gear that just looks like pajamas? Really?
Once you do get the item you wish to display to go about it is a very convoluted and again expensive or inventory heavy system to actually apply it.
It's silly to me that casual content keeps getting pushed into complicated systems that only non-casual players can actually participate in for the sole purpose of "giving crafters something to do." It's a running theme in this game and just makes me too lazy to even bother most the time.
If it were made more simple to both apply glamour and acquire the display costume, I would do it all the time. But the way it is now just isn't fun and takes too long.
Some people like showing off what they've actually attained (in terms of their highest tier gear). I am mostly in this crowd, even though it's not like I'm some hardcore raider or anything (2nd coil still kicks the snot out of me)
Personally speaking, I don't bother to glamour something unless it looks terribly mismatched or outright ugly.
Usually I'll wear ugly or non matching gear until I know I'll be wearing a certain set for a long time. In that case, it's for sure I'll be glamouring.
The cost can add up. Glamour prisms (in my server) cost 5k-10+K gil each. So unless you have a crafter to offset the cost it'll caost a minimum of 25k gil just to glamour a full set.
I can see why some people may not be willing to glamour often since that gil can be better used on relic progression or items
I really like my glamour. I got artifact lv2 on my dragoon and Picaron's on my monk
People like what they like, really. I generally have bizzare taste in stuff and I accept that to me, it may not look bizzare, but to others it may. Likewise some people wear stuff I think is bizzare but I bet they think it's the bee's knees. So, yeah, nothing wrong with either way.
Some people just don't care or like what they see and aren't picky like us. I, personally, get very annoyed if my character has an unflattering or mismatching outfit, but I understand that other people don't care about theirs. I don't really pay attention to others' outfits (unless they have a cool glamour), but glamouring is one of my favorite things to do regularly for myself. Yes, some things are painful to look at and I don't understand how anyone could look at some things the whole time they're playing, but it's not my concern.
Unless your current gear is long term it seems a waste of money if going to change it often. I prefer to glamour only the stuff I know will have for long periods these days now, I also keep a variety of other sets/outfits in my armoury if feel like want to change it up some time without having to spend money re-glamouring/de-glamouring the same pieces often. It also does not help when a lot of items cannot be glamoured still or cannot use many items for glamours or dyes onto others just like doesn't seem worthwhile when a lot of the catalysts cost between 5-25k each on my server for each individual catalyst.
Glamour is annoying. They should have made a system where I can simply equip gear into cosmetic slots, separately from gear slots, rather than having to update glamours when gear changes.
Other games do that. Not sure why FFXIV implemented the dumb way when it could have chosen any system, but that's why I don't use it.
All my battle jobs are glamoured with the exact same gear.
I've had people start to recognize me thanks to this. It's nice.
I've never been one to transmog things. I played classic and Burning Crusade. I can withstand any combination of horrid colors.

I think the fun part for glamour is to find the right combination from various vanity gear sets,at least i have fun try this with that or try that with this blah blah ... Good way to kill the time.
