I didn't mind when the FFXIII costumes were gender locked and I couldn't get Snow's outfit, but that's because girls at least got Lightning's outfit. But this. If I'm not a guy I have to be a playboy bunny? No thanks.

I knew that something stupid as hell would arrive with Gold Saucer, and here it finally is. The Setzer outfit being male-only. Wow, SE. Wow.
Seriously, SE? I have enough limited options due to the need to 'sexify' so much of our gear (dragoon AF, you never fail to upset me) and now you're going to completely take away one of the cooler looking outfits for a playboy bunny? Such a disappointment.
I hate the idea of gear being gender-locked at all, but SE had better stick to their guns on this one. If they decide at the last minute to make the Setzer outfit unisex, but keep the bunny costume female-only like they did with the spring and sailor sets I will be very angry. If I can't be a male Cabbit, then the ladies can't cosplay Setzer.
:\ not entirely happy but called it for the STEIZER (so i don't get corrected again :P ) but i do not like the bunny outfit, i might get the ears for S&G, but the outfit isn't my taste, it looks to hard like i am a girl of club bumblebee in ff7 where i am only there to 'service the rich'. while men get to be dressed up like they are 'the rich' i only hope STRONGLY, there is a female equilivant to the stiezer outfit for women, and i wish for a male equivalent of the bunny suit for men, they are not a fair trade off SE, if you wanted it to be fair you would of picked a female character famous or well known from the same game, and you have some lovely choices, while men have there stripper bunny outfits (which lets be fair here SE, most male characters who would dress like that already walk around in leopard print thongs now.)
This thread is basically, "I don't like it so therefore no one else can have it, nor do I want to think of gender change if I want it."
Personally, I think it's about time males get something decent looking for once.
That is a bit hyperbole. People are bothered that guys are getting an iconic FF character and women are not. Guys are more then welcome to have Setzer, I don't think anyone suggested removing it from the game? o.O
Considering SE said this game is for fan service of previous FF games, I can empathize.
Also failing to see how a gender change would suddenly give women an access to an iconic FF character and solve the problem. As a girl, I do not want to play a male. I am a female so relate more to females. That is a really strange thing to suggest.
Well, colour me completely uninterested in the Gold Saucer.
I can understand the Lightning/Snow thing even if I kind of want to have the option to wear the Snow coat, but this? Really? Male characters get an iconic FF character and female characters get a stupid fanservice outfit?
What a boneheaded decision. I have to wonder what the logic behind that even was, because it's just indefensibly stupid of SE.
Sorry to bump this thread but I'd rather do that than make another one.
Would it be possible to get some kind of official response/translation of Yoshida's comments please? Only source I can seem to find on the matter is the already-posted Reddit thread, would like to know if the Gold Saucer outfits really are gender locked, I'll be really disappointed if they are.
I've been looking forward to trying to get myself the Setzer outfit since I first saw the concept art of it on a female Roe, which makes me want the clarification even more, as that implies it was intended to be for both genders at that point in development. If that intention has changed, can we get an explanation of why the developers changed their minds?
(Free the bunny ears! Setzer outfit for everyone!)
I've never understood the sexualization of bunnies, but...I just can't take another gender-locked item. I just can't. And women not allowed to dress as an iconic character, because they are only being given the option of dressing as a sex object? Hydaelyn, shield us from this stupidity. I won't even begin to speak on the fact that females have more exclusive gear to play around with. There are so many things wrong here, but I hope that a dev responds to contradict the reddit post.
...I have the right to be a sex object, too!
@Hestern. Yeah, there's alot of sexualization when it comes to bunny, rabbits, or any cute animals. I remember the dev (?) said they didn't make any male vieras because it "look weird" the same thing was said about miqo-te/mithra as well. Animals+human= slutty femal cross breed is very prevalent.
It's nice that Yoshi P has made an effort make cat boys and dragon boys too
As I said before, it'll be fairly easy to make a male version of the bunny suit. Just think of chip and dale dancers with bunny eays and tail.
They're clearly not uncomfortable with males wearing skimpy gear...just look at my profile to see what other's are capable of glamouring, lol
Isn't this all just speculation? Calm down people.
Drop the hideous bunny girl outfit and give me a Faris cosplay outfit, or you know, don't gender lock them. That works too.
I'm all for giving everyone both outfits, but c'mon SE, us ladies deserve an iconic FF costume too! Are we really just worth a slutty bunny outfit? :(
While not iconic to Final Fantasy, bunnies are iconic to the Dragon Quest series. I believe they appear in the majority of the games.
This is sadly not the reply I was hoping to receive. Much disappointed SE.
They'll never change anything about it so close to patch but I guess we can still show them how many of us are unhappy with their choice. Even if let's be honest it was oh so predictable... I'm much less hyped for GS now... The ul'dan outfit better look good...
つ ◕_◕ ༽つ No more dumb and useless gender restricted gear or riot? like srsly guyz stahp it つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
even on a moral pov to restrict women to bunny outfit is so fking cliche like really se wth
I'm gonna throw my hat in here and say that I don't mind gender-locked gear... I see no problem with this. If you want to wear a bunny suit, roll up a female character. If you want to get the Setzer outfit, roll up a male. This isn't a problem.
As a male player who plays a male character, I have no desire to see my character wearing a leotard, high heels, and rabbit ears, prancing around like a sexy waitress (And quite frankly I don't really want to see that on any male characters either, while I'm being bluntly honest). Nor do I have any desire to wear a dress at any point in my life. Should I have the option...? I ... guess... But I don't see the point. I'd rather have glamor restrictions on heavier armors removed.
People who complain about things like this have too much time on their hands. It's a game, folks. So you can't engage in your digital crossdressing fantasies. Maybe you should rethink your priorities, a little. There are refugee children starving in Uldah and you're annoyed that you can't wear a dress!
If you want to wear heavy armor you should just roll a tank, there's no reason to remove the restrictions!
Do you see why that argument is dumb? Its even worse for gender locked gear because it actively changes what we look like AND costs money just to try out 1 piece of gear your interested in.
And as a female player who plays a female character, I have no desire to see my character wearing a getup like that either.
Yet SE seems to think it's all I should want, and why would I want a silly little thing like a badass Final Fantasy character outfit when I can be a sexy bunny, or something to that effect. It's shortsighted and foolish, and in fact downright insulting when it's "one gender gets a Final Fantasy outfit, another gets a generic fanservice outfit."
It's dumb, basically. More glamour options for everyone, please.
Or at least even kilter for each gender. 1 unique iconic ff outfit for boys, and 1 unique one for girls. 1 sexualized outfit for girls, 1 for boys (it doesn't have to be cross-dressing, even).
This is just sort of so unbalanced its ridiculous. Boys get a cool outfit and girls can be a bunny.
Anyone know what the JP side is saying about this issue by chance?
As a female who plays a male character... I have a mighty need.
Thanks to you I didn't had to go on a long ass rant to explain this again for the 100th times.

thankyou
I'm personally not the kind of person that can throw 10$ every time I want to change my char glamour. Glamour are free so far, the only restrictions are the ones SE puts without real reasons. My guy can wear a thong and he would be fab as a bunny dude.
Um, no. I shouldn't just "roll up a male" because I want the Setzer outfit. I like my character being a female. I don't want to be a male with their stupid sitting animations and their stupid standing poses and weird hairstyles, THANK YOU. There are other outfits in this game that are unisex and there is no excuse the Setzer outfit couldn't be one of them. Incase you didn't notice, not all of us want to be LOLXDSORANDOM and run around in this game looking slutty all the time.
I am fine with different outfits for male and female characters. It adds flavor to the game that you have an exclusive outfit to your characters gender.
I would be fine with it if both of the outfits looked like they actually RELATED to one another. Regardless of how one feels about the outfits themselves, they're not consistent.
Either they both should cover most of the body be intricately decorated (the female one could've been the outfit of a female character from the same game, a la Snow/Lightning), or they both should've been revealing (maybe not necessarily the bunny outfit for both of them, but the males could've had some subligar-ish equivalent).
What they've done here is just night and day in terms of relevance.
And as has already been pointed out, I'm sure a lot of us who are complaining would be fine with different outfits for different genders if we actually got an equivalent. "Sexy bunny lady" is absolutely not equivalent to "iconic Final Fantasy character". But hey, you're right, let's keep things fair. Next time, females can get a Celes outfit, and males can get a "sexy werewolf dude" outfit, complete with speedo, cuffs, and wolf ears. Totally equal, right?
This isn't even the issue? Try reading the thread. Why do guys get an iconic character's costume, while girls get generic sexy bunny girl?
I also want an official response. I wouldn't even care about it being gender locked if girls got an awesome character outfit. But sexy bunny vs Setzer... as if that's fair.
One is a high rolling gambler and the other is probably what Golden Saucer attendants/worker npcs wear, lol
On the topic of "iconic FF character," I highly doubt that 90%+ of the playing population even know who Setzer is, so in my opinion, that's a little bit of a stretch to call him iconic. If you start talking FF6, most people are probably going to think about either Terra, Locke, or Kefka.
And that's all I have to say about that. I don't have an opinion on the whole gender-locked gear subject.
Personally, I take everything said on reddit with a grain of salt.
It may be true about the gender lock, but I'm not 100% sold. That is a pretty different way to give out information than has been done before by this team. Until an undeniable official response is given, I won't completely believe it to be true.
However, I do think they should have male and female version of both outfits or at least have a male and female version of the bunny outfit and a female specific iconic outfit and the Seltzer one for males. While I have no desire to wear a bunny outfit, fair is fair.
Yeah, giving feedback about a game we pay monthly for? Crazy right?
"Official character", then. Why don't we get a Celes or Freya or Yuffie outfit? Nope, generic bunny girl.
It's fine to not care, but they are hardly comparable.
But...but...I want bunny outfit... :(
