Heavensward is coming to PS3 unfortunately. So that whole expansion will still be held back. Its the expansion after that that SE hasn't made any promises about for the PS3. They said they will have to wait and see when the time comes.

Wow really???????? The reason I even bought this game was cuz I could do the free trial and try it risk free. I wouldn't be here right now without that trial... now I'm a 6 month subscriber and will keep going likely for another year lol.

It was about a year ago before 2.0 was released.

During that time Yoshi-P mentioned they have already planned the Main Scenario all the way up to 4.0 already so they have a plan on what they will release but not time when they will release the planned contents.

FF14ARR is planned to support PS3 until 3.X era and once 4.0 is released they plan on ending PS3 support depending on how things turn out.

If FFXIV becomes to finish support to PS3 when heavensward arrives then as customer i need this game will be translated to SPANISH. Chile, peru, argentina, bolivia, ecuador, venezuela, colombia, paraguay, uruguay, el Salvador, costa rica, mexico, España needs this game available in SPANISH.

This game will be translated into Chinese and Korean before Spanish. Korea and China are neighbours to Japan and a lot of the population in Korea and China are not the best with English. Plus FFXIV is an Asian game so Asian translations should take precedence over European translations.

There is already a French and German translation of this game, if you are not good with English you can get those as well. Spanish would be massively down the line.

I dunno if there are more french/german players than spanish players..

They mostly play on the European servers. Because they live in Europe.
But yeah...Spanish localization is a lot less likely despite the high number of people that speak it because of the number of people that also speak English. You listed 13 countries that probably have less total players than some STATES in the U.S.
French, meanwhile, is not only the primary language in France, but also the official second language of the very country the servers are housed in. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if there was some goofy law that forbid the game to be housed there unless it had a french translation.
Not saying it does, but it wouldn't surprise me.

It's true that the servers are lagging very bad lately but that's because they just updated a new patch.

getting new players is a good thing for MMO. more player, more money for them and they'll use it to develop the game, and also increase the game's lifespan.

I think SE has the info in their hands. sure, there're so many Spanish speaking countries but maybe all the South Americans & the Caribbean players combined are still lower than Germans/Austrians/Swisses.

for French, don't forget that many Canadians speak French and Canada is one of the important markets for SE.

This have nothing to do with the player type. You find the same player type on PC and PS4.

I play from Mexico and never experienced any lag. I'm on Balmung which is always full and never had any lag problems. I also don't need the game translated to Spanish, this is how I learned English.

That's right, OP, keep FFXIV small and full of in-bred players with no experience of the outside gaming world who flame even the slightest critic or game suggestion to help make FFXIV better, and certainly don't recruit new players who's money might help the game's development progress.

the Ps3 is not being discontinued for heavensward as there a collector edtion for the ps3 as show in every pic on the CE the ps3 will get drop at 4.0 most likely

e.g. offer a separate server where interested people can create a character already level 50
and give a tutorial towards the rotations so they can check out what endgame has to offer.

That is not a bad idea but I don't think it will ever works, given how the end game contents work for us via DF or even PF, and that I am talking about players who had their characters level up from lv 1. Some of them still pretty bad at their roles. Now if the same contents are given to a bunch of fresh newbies that absolutely has no idea what to do (even with Tutorial), instead of keeping them back into the game, they actually scares them off.

I agree with this idea. Trials must be enabled in a trial server. This is a technical solution to this problem. If buy a suscription account move to world servers.

OP is trolling. No one can possibly be this dense after everyone already explained why no free trials=bad.

My finally words to square enix team.
1. Give separate servers to trial players.
2. If not give preferential access to player customers.

If you dont have problems with your internet connection feel lucky. This customer from Chile its having frozen dutys sametimes when the frial trial is open.
As i said my son plays COD AW without lag.

While I do hate the whoel free trial / free login weekends thing... I'm not going to enter in my personal info even into a trusted site just for the purpose of this.
Its not that I dont want people to become hooked on the game and then subscribe. Its that we get so many free-loaders who wants to rush content during the free periods who ruin the experience for others. Its so bad I have to avoid duty finder for those weekends.

This doesn't mean anything. For ARR, you are directly connecting to a server in Canada that is maintaining communication with thousands of players constantly, whereas CoD's servers only handle matchmaking. During gameplay in CoD, the players are directly connected to each other. The 2 network types are not comparable.

1. This is far too much effort for too little reward. Many games have tried this method in the past an ended up scrapping it due to lack of interest. People who get free trials will usually want to get a feel of the game's ACTUAL community or, y'know, PLAY WITH THEIR FRIENDS. Thus, this will never, ever happen. Ever.
2. This...doesn't make any sense either. Free trials are already restricted. Being told you're not allowed to play because you're not paying is a disincentive to actually wanting to pay for the game. Plus it's the kind of dreck that F2P games pull on their customers, and that's not the atmosphere FFXIV has.

And again as people mentioned COD's servers are used for matchmaking, and they're far, FAR smaller with fewer overall assets than the persistent world of FFXIV. Ever wonder why MMO graphics even from AAA companies like Bethesda are more simplistic than games like COD? It's to cut down on lag. You're not connecting to the same room as ~10 other people, you're connecting to the same "room" as ~5000 people per server.

How many of those free accounts are responsible for the 10,000% increase in RMT spam?

I`m also a player from Chile, and i have to say it , yes we have lag, but it`s just because we are pretty far from the servers, and there`s absolutely no proof of what you are saying, actually sounds like a pretty stupid reason.

I have a decent internet connection and according the Window`s resource monitor i play with 180-220 ms of ping which is completely playable, except when you have to dodge stuff, like on titan extreme where you need the reflexes of a shaolin monk...

I just hope they learned enough from FF11 as to not be locked into a console. While the engine can always be replace on a pc its harder to do so for a port. Hopefully the graphics were down throttled, that way if need be, it can be cranked up in the future to extend its life. Or they could crash another moon into the planet and reboot it as a ps4, ps5 & pc title for 5.0.

I'm in Australia and I connect to the Tonberry server located in Japan. I am probably as far away as Chile is from the NA datacentre and I can dodge Titans' AOE although I get hit sometimes. I notice JP players get hit sometimes as well, so I don't think this is primarily a fault of the long distance. I might just have a better route to the servers from Australia then the route from Chile to Canada.

I disagree with the OP. I was on the fence, and i Probably wouldn't have even tried this game if it didn't have a free trial. As it is, i cancelled one of my other gaming accounts with a different Game (I have a gaming allowance i allow myself), and am now subbed to FFXIV. the trial is what got me here, i can't see it as a bad thing.

That sounds more like the ping you get if you are on NA servers, why don't you play on JP servers?

Yeah I started on Behemoth 1 year ago, and I have made so many friends and bro in this server. So to me, I have cleared all contents but T13 with that much pings, to have a lower ping with the same contents sure does make life easier but the trade off or forsaking all connection is just not worth the price :)

Simple solution to the OP's problem, Buy a PS4...sure they are expensive but the Ps3 is getting outdated and that would be half your problem. New players help keep the game alive

I think mi biggest complain is when i got hit by the landslide even if i`m out of the animation. And Chile is a pretty long country so the distance can vary some thousands of kilometers.

So much /facepalm.

OP: are you using the PS3 WIFI? If answer is yes, then there is your problem right there. Plug in a CAT5, or better CAT6.
Which PS3 version do you have? There's a big difference in the harddrives. Replace the HDD and get an SSD, it'll improve your performance a little bit.

Better yet, get an up to date system to play FF.
