Triple Triad I can't wait!!!!! So that will be out in 2.5 or 2.51?
If they had any sense they'd push it in 2.5 since only one method of obtaining them is in 2.51 and this game desperately needs minigames... Those two pieces of trash we got in our Inn rooms are utterly pathetic...
Give me a quest in 2.5 which introduces you to the game and rewards you a starting deck and let us go off playing NPCs and just add more in 2.51 with Gold Saucer... Been waiting too damn long for this thing...
Sigh already mention of the next relic upgrade and I'm still only a little over halfway through the light grind with the whole zodiac grind ahead of me.
Not particularly (other than dat accent), I was just seeing it for the first time before I read your comment and it seemed topical.
Looking forward to the FFXV crossover event where Cid (XIV) and Cidney (XV) hook up, though.
I do hope our Cid doesn't trade his beard for a rack in the World of Darkness though, or you know, disappear/die for a bit... Wouldn't be the first time a Cid (or even this Cid...) has done such a thing, and if anyone should get stuck in the World of Darkness it should be Nero.
Well they could always put in a extra lore in FF14 and reveal that Cid has a daughter named Cidney :p
Back on topic:
I doubt anything like that will happen to Cid. Most likely we will escape all fancy action style and then one big cliffhanger ending to foreshadow Cid and Nero's role in 3.0 Main Storyline.
I think a lot of people would be angry to see the beard gone :(
I can see it now... Cid and Nero finally bury the hatchet before running into a Calamity orphan. 3.0 fluff fetch quests will revolve around helping Cid and Nero care for their adoptive daughter: Cidney.
In all seriousness though, I don't think I expect Nero to make it out. He may redeem himself in the end by saving Unei (he certainly tried at the end of Scyrus Tower), but I can't see him coming back... Well, I can see Cid getting trapped their for a while and Nero taking over for a bit... I just can't see what else they can do with him at this point.
I would question why you even come to that conclusion but I worry it would only fuel more of your fantasy.
So back on the topic:
We don't really know much about Cid's personal life. His background lore has mostly been focused on his career and how it was affected by his father and the people around him.
I won't be surprised if he had a girlfriend before he left the Garlean Empire and never knew he was a father due to leaving before learn about his own child existance.
Though that would give SE a reason to put Cid's son or daughter as a temporary antagonist working as a Garlean Engineer before he or she turns Protagonist.
Well, if Nero survives I imagine it would be more NeroxUnei with a daughter (adoptive because I seem to recall Scyrus cutscenes mentioning clones being infertile) named Cidney being a homage to his great rival, but I doubt the game will progress that far.
Nero "settling down" is the only real way I can see him remaining, since "I'm Cids rival" isn't really going to carry his story ark through 3.0, in my opinion at least. He can die/get trapped, die/get trapped redeeming himself, replace Cid for a time to switch things up ("I'm only helping you so I can one day settle things with my rival", etc), or just quietly exit stage left with Unei at the end of things. I guess he could work together with Cid in 3.0, but I can't see why he would.
Whether he wanted to save her, or wanted to save her to use her power is irrelevant. He still wanted to save her. One hopes if he is going to redeem himself it will be because being pulled into a literal world of darkness because of his "evil" actions will make him reconsider his ways.
1) Didn't he say he couldn't return during one of the Scyrus Tower cutscenes? May have been lying I guess, but I do find it likely that the whole XIVth and VIIth Legion are basically outlaws in their home country after their colossal failures, it would explain why a few of the (Drest?) aren't simply walking by to the nearest Castrum.
2) That's exactly my problem with it... They'd just be repeating Crystal Towers story as far as Cid and Nero go. Nero wants to get into Allagan Ruin #294, Cid wants to seal Allagan Ruin #294, hijinks ensure.
I'd rather just see Nero redeem himself, get on with his life, and maybe return if Cid has a moral crisis and needs someone to remind him what to do.
I can only squee in anticipation.
Cid and Nero working together is possible for 3.0 but it not like a Friendship reason thing.
Cid and Nero have a Rivalry Relationship so those two will never truely trust each other but they can put aside enough hatred to respect each other enough to complete a similar goal for a short moment even though they have different reasons for being involved.
Most likely Nero may return to the Garlean Empire after CT if he survives or become a wanderer seeking ancient allegan knowledge for power while crossing path with Cid due to discovery of Ancient Secrets (most likely the raids that will be the successors to CT raid).
After all Cid and Nero are only working together in CT storyline because they both aim to discover the secrets of CT. While Cid wish to seal it, Nero wish to obtain it but both can not reach their goal without the help of each other.
A interesting Rivalry Story between Cid and Nero that they can certain expand through FF14 storyline which is one I would hate for it to end this soon just for the sake of removing a character like Nero.

Thank you for posting all the info! ^^
Gold Saucer is sounding really promising, can't wait to start collecting cards for Triple Triad!
Hildibrand questline...co...concluded?
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Does someone have the video for World of Darkness? I heard the music is pretty epic but i tuned in some time after it was already showcased.
In all seriousness... I don't think Cid is done with Eorzea. Have you seen what they've shown of Machinist? That has Cid's name all over it and I have little doubt he will have a hand in it. If the Job was all about the gunplay I'd not say this, but when they tossed out that little drone I was sold on Cid being the Job handler. If it isn't Cid, I will be flabbergasted.
Did they mention i110 accessories?
Or a wife called Cidney! Even though any wife of Cid should be called Nancy! (see if any get that :P ) Is it a soft C (pronounced S) or a hard C (pronounced K) for Cidney? :P T'would be funny, Cid introduces his wife. "Heres my C(K)idney!
Totally happy about WP being hardicus modicus made. as seemed more lore should be gained from there. Same with AK, even happier it WONT be Horrible Vale XD
Hoping for some HD videos showcasing difference between DX9 and 11 soon, blurry screen caps aint so good to compare with XD Unless any know of some already posted........
Still hoping for a Gunblade job, with a good mix of melee and ranged abilties to keep up that constant pewpew stabbystabicus during fights.
Hildibrand has to return in 3.0, Hildibrand is FFXIV.
The gold saucer is already looking amazing! I can't wait to explore it and see what lovely mini games are available.
I hope they're smart enough to expand the expert roulette to include the existing expert dungeons rather than dumping the current 'expert' ones into the Hard Mode. The HM roulette is already pretty watered down now, and we really don't need any more dungeons added to it.
What I'm most interested in though is this aetherial wheel. What could it be? Could we finally see elemental resistances and weaknesses play a more central role in the game?
At least we can guess that he finally catches the thief. Probably. It is Hildibrand we are talking about so we may never know. What has me intrigued that the Golden Saucer is the Manderville Golden Saucer. It's probably owned by Godbert. Or it's a paralell for the Diogenese Club and owned by Hildibrand's brother. Hmmm, I wonder if we can have our fortune read by Caith Sith.
Anyroad, time to play the hell out of FF III and VIII in preparation for the world of darkness and triple triad.
I'm just goimg to go ahead and assume that Godbert is going to be the stand in for Dio. The gold saucer being run by a powerfully builtman you first encounter wearing nothing but his most breif breifs, with a taste for items of value, but without understanding WHY they are valued as such.
The Hildibrand storyline has everything. Zombies, pretty girls, intrigue, gilgamesh, ultros and the gunhalbred of Nael. All it needs is Jandelaine and a Scion to make it a complete Final Fantasy experience.
At any rate, not Hildibrand himself :D I welcome the chance to learn more about the Manderville family. We know Hildibrand is a detective and that Godbert is a world famous goldsmith and philantropist with superhuman skills who is a member of the Syndicate, but beyond that, nothing.
This. Painfull it is to accept, but your grand comany chocobo is, just that. a mount used by a military organisation. It is NOT fit for competitive sports. Looks like we will own at least 3 chocobos .
upgrading ironwork on CT3 ? yay :D
the new dungeon looks amazing , cant wait for the new story arc
It's funny - Yoshi never planned for him to be anything more than some minor comic relief in 1.0 to lighten up the increasingly jaundiced tone of the story. My own fear though (which sadly has become increasingly blatant as his storyline continues) is the risk for SE to devolve his humour into utter farce. He works best when he's bumbling but still has dignity. But the recent Hildy quests particularly were dumming him down into a farcical imitation of himself.
Sure the whole thing with Godbert running around in short shorts and suplexing monsters is good for a laugh, but more and more SE just seem to be trying to turn Hildibrand into a one-dimensional Looney Tunes character for quick laughs. Which is a shame, as he really is an awesome character that managed to succeed despite his idiocy. But I'm just rambling here. :P
Prepare to be flabbergasted, then. Main Scenario NPCs aren't involved in Job quests because of the potential for it to make no sense; Cid teaching you to Machinist while he still has amnesia, for example.
I imagine it will be a similar situation to Yugiri and Ninja; You'll be taught by someone completely new, probably someone associated with Garlond Ironworks, and they'll make passing mentions of Cid.
