Yes, it's later than usual, but look at HOW MUCH STUFF there is. I, for one, do NOT want a half-baked cookie coming out. This time, with such heavy changes and additions, it will be COMMON SENSE to assume that the patch will be delayed. I am a hypocrite for saying this, but provide something more constructive than a complaint that gets the community, SE and the game nowhere. Besides, the end of September CAN be considered the end of summer, as previously stated in other threads which you happened to either miss or completely ignore. If the former, we can attest to ignorance, but if the latter, than you are just plain foolish.

I am most excited about the Primal fight and adjustments to battle etc. Though I must admit, the yellow feathery goods and airships make me j*zz slightly. :L

Exactly, and to be fair to Yoshi-P that's been working around the clock with his head chopped off! ( which is probably the reason why he's sick because that man needs some rest!)This patch notes is going to a Monster compared to 1.18 (3-5times as long?!) 1.18 was long enough but if you Triple that or Times 5? I mean come on the list DIDN'T have Airships and that's coming in 1.19! Let's be Reasonable here Shall we, "Caravan rides" WASN'T in the list but that's coming in 1.19! I will to sacrifice certain things for those very HUGE things that this game needs! :D

I would suggest you read the letter again... Because Airships were mentioned. -_-

some cool stuff for sure...but this game wont feel complete to me until stuff like:

(mainly) world re-design
job system
personal housing
mail system
better server side/less stress on PCs
Solid party system like the one someone made up
making the Wards as effective and convient as an AH


after those are done, il even consider buying the game again on ps3 just for the sake of supporting what changes they did to make the game a true successor to FFXI.

Well "Summer" is viewed diferently depending on the region. Western view summer is ending the weekend of Labor Day in Sept so they won't be TOO far off that mark if there is no delays.

Ranked number 1 of my favorite chocobo music, XIV's coming in second mainly because of the way it sounded at the Distant Worlds concert from a full orchestra.

couple things of note:

Choco escort - cool, hope it gives sp

no hamlet defense until later /sad

looks like job system being put off a bit longer (I say this cause it was only mentioned in red notes and nowhere else)

redoing sp for field fights and adding chain system - I hope they arent nerfing exp and making us rely on chains. I was really hoping chains would have more unique effects and make partying different, not just an entire XI clone, but we wont know for sure until the time comes

adding lots of stuff to companies and company leves. I hope company leves wont tie into the limit on normal leves

new raids - I REALLY hope they drop the specific number of player rules

reworking regimen -yay - suspending it until fixed - boo

^ hey just need to start calling them something other then raids...it makes them feel...cliche. Anyways as long as they keep doing some open world and instanced stuff and not making it stupidly easy im all for it.

Shame they take so long but I guess reworking core systems is harder then just adding content in many ways, hopefully things will start to speed up once Jobs are out the way.
And as listing the good parts would just make this a wall of text, I'll just rant about a couple . :p

- :D at different claim system!
It cant be worse then the isolation system we have atm, but we need more detail as said before by many people. (i agree about it having issues in some areas but there are easy fix's imo to them, No more static NM's!)

- Ok I'm still a little worried we might get locked into one grand company in some way, and that each one will have different classes gear and them not even fitting with the guilds in that city.

- And I'm curious how simple the new recipes will be, when we 1st started they seemed so complex, but now I don't really think they do need dumbing down much at all. (not a huge thing for me cos I got bored of crafting anyway lol)

- Excellent news on chocobos and airships, one question would be at some point will we be able to raise/breed them? or are they simply going to stay rented/rewarded?
(yes I am aware we don't have a huge amount on that and it could be this way from the grand companys anyway, just saying)

- Hmm...Bonus XP on chained mobs, seems like a ok idea but i really would hate to see a move to a FFXI system (you can play FFXI for that) were I can almost fall asleep cos were just standing on one spot killing mobs over and over again..
Its the main reason i though F'it in the end. fun >> monotony.

- But mainly BEAST STRONGHOLD AND NEW CONTENT ! :D
(As long as we keep a good balance between instanced and open world (Dynamic not static open world i mean by that, more imperial attacks!) its all good)

i hope they will start to make more gear availible in store for a reasonable prices because people are price gouging and the vendors are a lil gil happy the gil sellers are or will have a field day with this from people just starting out.

Nope. It does start in December in some parts of the world, but it doesn't end in late September anywhere on the planet.

You seem a bit ignorant of the "rest of the world" by saying that. I live in Canada and this year the summer ends September 22nd (Fall starts on the 23rd) so, yeah summer ends in late September somewhere in the world ;)

22nd isn't exactly "late", at least from my POV. Late usually means the last week of the month, if not the last couple of days. I'm hopeful no delays happen at least this time around, because we already know he won't manage to stand by the infamous "end of summer" feature list.

It ends September 22nd in plenty parts of the world by the way, but thanks for calling me ignorant for no reason at all.

I called you ignorant because you stated that summer does not end late September anywhere on the planet when it clearly does so. Plus the fact that you called people "fanboy" for actually knowing when summer ends in the northen hemisphere which is really just ignorant.

You try to defend yourself saying that Sept 22nd is not late in your book and saying that late would be the last week of September, well the 22nd is the thursday just before the last week so it's not that much sooner than your "late".

I get your feeling don't get me wrong. I am extatic about this patch, there is so much stuff in it that it sounds like a monster patch like Yoshi said, assuming the chocobos do make it in 1.19. And I am a bit bumped out because I thought 1.19 would come late august and that 1.20 would be late september, end of summer since I had the feeling that 1.20 was marking the end of the big battle overhaul which was supposed to be over at the end of summer.

As for the fanboy thing, I might have misunderstood. I know you did not call me a fanboy but I thought it wrong to call others that since the end of summer is the end of September for some. But if you said that people are making excuses because you thought 1.20 would be at the end of summer like I did, then yes I understand your frustration.

That's exactly it.

The fact of the matter is, wether 1.19 comes out in the Summer or not, it doesn't really matter because that overall "end of summer" schedule just won't be reached, no matter what. Which is extremely dissapointing, at least for me.

This right here is the only rain cloud on the parade of 1.19 for me - the addition of more instanced only dungeons. When they mentioned strongholds it brought back memories of exploring Davoi, Beadeaux and Castle Oztroja in XI. As it stands, I've wandered all across Eorzea. I like to explore and see what kind of danger I can get myself into (and out of!). So this is pretty disheartening. If all new world content is going to be instanced like this, what hope for us have-sword-will-travel folks to have new lands to explore?

Instead, couldn't these have been open world strongholds with instanced parts within? Say like a boss area on they very top or very bottom floor where only those teamed with others would dare enter? I would have loved to nose about in a beastmen stronghold, at my own peril of course, without needing to find a party and play by the team rules while under a time limit.

Hi All,

Our next patch, 1.19, looks to be EPIC! :)

Good job Yoshida-san! My favorites include:

• Giving New Players better guidance with simplified opening tutorials.
• Low Rank Dungeons for new players to adventure in. (Note while these 2 items may no longer be valid for high level players, it's still a great thing they're doing to ensure New Players / PS3 Launch is as welcoming / helpful as possible. ;)

• IFRIT Battle / Storyline! :)

• Beastman Strongholds! Joy! (^_^) - I can't wait to see if these surpass places like Castle Oztroja or Castle Zvahl, etc. :)

• Chocobos & Airships! Finally, some more Final Fantasy flavor to the game.

• New Grand Company Quests & Items. Hopefully some cool storylines involving the 3 Leaders of the 3 Nations.

• "Adjustments to ranged attack algorithms of enemies" - I wonder if this means we can kite enemies now?

• XP Chain Bonuses! :) Finally, some fun back in Grind Parties.

• Redistribution of Actions / WS / Abilities for All Classes (List) - This will be exciting and I think very necessary. To get our classes to be more in line with future Jobs that they turn into, and to make them more viable / better defined, I can't wait to see what they're planning.

• The End of Physical Level - Joy! :) I hope that 1.19 at least lifts the restriction on the ~3 hour wait per "Reassign" until we get the automated Stat Switching in 1.20. It's ridiculous to properly play more than 1 class at once right now without waiting ~a full day to reassign all stats you want.

• Simplified Recipes! Hopefully no more recipes that require 7 Final Parts (and each Part requiring ~5 - 8 Sub Parts, etc.).

• Materia System! :) It looks so innocuous on paper, but thinking about it, this alone can change / really revitalize all of our Equipment / Weapons we have in the game! :)
  
  I hope we can get into stuff like Aeolian Scimitar with Double Attack Materia or an Aeolian Scimitar with Counterattack Materia, etc.

and Yoshida-san saying 1.19's notes alone are 3 to 5 TIMES as large as 1.18. 1.18 delivered in spades, so I can't wait to see 1.19 now. :)

It's a bit of bummer it's 1.5 months away, but it looks like it'll be worth the wait.

That was a very childish response without taking anything into consideration. On lower population servers its not extremely easy to gather 8 people, especially with smaller linkshells whose members are not all 45+. This suggestion was to help groups with fewer get in to do content other than going for the final boss. A cap on participants is fine, I didn't think I would need to point that out, but there is no reason fewer than 8 can't go in.

If you need reasons: SP, treasure chests, strategy refinement

Now I understand the comment better and yes they will not meet the end of summer schedule for the "planned summer updates" that was stated in letter X (I think).

But the content of this patch still is awsome and covers almost everything that was planned. Just missing some battle tweaks and the regimen rework.

this could be done and would be nice to have as well. They can really add a lot of different open world and instanced content mixed together. Also, they could revome the party member requirement (can keep the limit) for entering an instance as well as the 60min timer, tha way you could enter the instance alone if you wished.

Was a wonderful letter! I'm really excited! I actually thought 1.19 was going to be smaller than 1.18, but I'm jazzed to find out it's going to be 3-5 times bigger! :D

Also, for all the knit-pickers out there. Seriously? It's coming out a month later than you thought it would even though it has pretty much triple what you were expecting. lol. I say it'll be a nice present for FFXIV's anniversary because once this patch comes out this game WILL be completely different.

Now we just gotta wait for more LS options.
