I'm still hoping for a savanna region between Thanalan and The Black Shroud.
No expansion pack is coming ANY TIME SOON.
It would be logical to release the first expansion with the ps3 version imo, it would give people an extra incentive to buy it, whilst potentially enraging PC players who say they stuck with the game but have to pay for the expansion while the ps3 noobs get it with thier copy.
But I beleave it would be a good move for SE.
No it wouldn't. It would be disastrous because it means players would have another hurdle to buy in the face of buying a game that was terrible at launch. There is not enough consumer confidence to do something like this with the title.
Square has to reestablish their competency and player trust before anything like this would happen.
As much as I like desert environments (with actual sand dunes, not the savannah style environment in Thanalan...even though thats cool too) I second this. They seem to know that too, since they're continuing with stacking content onto areas that already exist. Best thing to do is to completely flesh out the existing areas...or at least as much as currently possible, then expansion.
Which is why the PS3 version should be released bundled with the expansion, didnt mention that because I didnt think i needed to because I mentioned people thinking they were being cheated.
If they do this it will show people how much has been done, and that it is ready for re-release because it has another expansion, the only people who will be paying are the people who have been playing for months before and know what the game is like.
Bundling an expansion with the ps3 version will show that they have already lost alot of money but they are willing to loose more from the loss of most of the expansion sales.
I want them to release Chains of Promathia for FFXIV.
Likely the new expansion, when it comes out, will simply add the new regions on the map that we can see but not visit yet.
Consider an expansion date measured in years.
In the famitsu article he claimed it took them 6 months minimum to create one set of gear. Mind boggling, I know, but it should reassure you that this game is slooooooooooooooooooooooooow development.
I mostly just want a pretty tropical area ; ; all the other ideas sound like fun though. I just like seeing green areas with lots of flowers. A tropical area with huge flowers and a jungle with some ruins and villages would be fun. (Although I'm afraid I mostly just described Kazham.)
The only thing that i want to see now is another way to go from La noscea to Thanalan. (airship doesn't count). I mean, a bridge but i think this will seem a little long and boring, so i was thinking on something down the water, like a tunnel with mobs and some nms, like Maze of shakarami (w/e it's called).
Adding some real world elements, while ideal in some scenarios in FFXIV, should not be overly typical as it would subtract from it's lore and magic that is Final Fantasy. Obviously alot of the themes mentioned here have been used alot in FFXI and in other MMO's, if so a bit overly used as some have said. This game need to stay focused on being a FF title with magical lands, mystical and powerful monsters of an unearthly kind as well as it's creatures and races of people, super castle and technical like lands and cities, powerful sword and magical battles, great world spanning adventures and story.lines of love friendship, hardship and a struggle to save the world from evil. The list goes on of course. As for the expansions, I think the first one should involve Garlemald, Al Mihgo and Sharaylan, since their stories seem to be tied together from the get go. Access to their storylines, lands and battles would definetly go well for FFXIV's first expansion. Ishguard as I agree with some, should definetly be a part of the original game and not to mention the final storyline(wich probably how it will go unless SE throws a major curve in it)with the battle against the dragons being a major part of it's endgame. However there is alot of stuff in the current storyline that points to 10 or 15yrs prior to present day, about the wars against the Empire, the sixth umbrial age and the battle of Al Mihgo, with leads me to think there is gonna be another time travel type expansion some years down the road similar to XI. On to the topic of speculation, while it can be a headache and some don't like it, it can also be a good think as we already know the mods and developers are reading into our ideas everyday and sure enough, you can bet some of this "speculation" WILL make it into the game. Just my thoughts on it.
I like the idea of an Egyptian style theme or at least a desert (hills of sand) as opposed to Thanalan's desert (barrens). Blue Mage is tied as my favorite job along with Red Mage so that's definitely a plus for this idea also.
So awesome :) also it would be awesome if Beastmaster and Geomancer was introduced with this expansion as well as enviormental traps withing dungeons..
Yes! :) this idea fits perfectly with XIV.
LMAO! DUH!
These are like the best zones.. :)
ya and it doesnt have to look like thanalan, the sand can be white, red, or even black. There can be alot of water that is ankle deep that splashes when we run through it.. or whatever, i know SE has a good imagination.. :)
I would like to see a desert zone, but not just bland and also a Snow zone but with lots of environmental detail, like frozen rivers and ponds, evergreen trees, with wild rabbits and foxes. They should add a Polar bear mob too and a moose lol. Think they should have a train that takes us there with Russian feel or design kinda like Trans-Siberian Railway.
I'm more excited to get the game that I paid 80 bucks for before I get asked to give them more money.
