3* trade in for Master II books rotation...

Well I tried for a good hour tonight with no luck. The second rotation posted here seemed easier to follow, but at best I still only got up to 28% quality even with 11 stacks of Inner Quiet. Seems you have to hit Byregot's on a Good/Excellent or you may as well Reclaim and start over. These are so frustrating. -_- I feel like giving up on crafting at this point.

Well whoever tested this, had to see the problems with trying to hq it, they had to of but of course it was released anyway

I've had no problems doing then, 3 in a row on alchemist without the new tool, bsm carp and lthw all done, I hmjust havnt had time to make the other 4 yet

28% with an IQ 11? Are you using great strides and HQ mats?

How does Reclaim work?

If I'm to understand correctly. When triggered you are given a buff that when the synthesis fails I would then have a 90% chance to reclaim the materials used in the synthesis.

That being said, I have now used Reclaim in the last 6 attempts and 4 out of those 6, I did not get my materials back. I use Reclaim when I have 10 Durability remaining.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I using Reclaim incorrectly? or am I just the luckiest person at failing? My wife was suggesting that perhaps it's not actually 90% chance to reclaim, but only under certain conditions. (like maybe the % grows up to 90% depending on how much durability is remaining). I have no idea, which is why I'm asking for help here. This is seriously getting expensive.

It was just a string of bad rng you got. As long as you use reclaim before you fail it's 90 percent to retain the materials. You will however always lose the clusters/crystals/shards.

Unfortunately, this is accurate. The best you'll get is in the 20-30% ranges if your BB doesn't land on a excellent with great strides.

The difference between our final quaility is 700 or so points. I was only at 10 IQ stacks; didn't get as many hasty touches as I would've liked in the end

Finally got around to trying it again. I did this on LTW instead of WVR because someone else in my FC already has the WVR book but not the LTW, so I decided to do a different class. My WVR offhand had 16 craftsmanship melded into it. I forget how much I had in LTW... somewhere between 0 and 10. I had to change my methods a tad to compensate. I'm just using all the old BiS stuff (no Supras) and Bouillabaisse.

I got my three in 6 tries. 3 success, 1 NQ, and 2 reclaims (one of those I got distracted talking to someone and made a dumb mistake, so it kindof doesn't count). My lowest one I didn't reclaim was 64%, highest was 94%. I did have good conditions for three of those and an excellent for the fourth (although I didn't have Great Strides up, but excellent by itself is better than good with GS).

A few tips:
1. I used 2xPbP, 3xRapid, and 1xCS to finish. This rotation is well suited if your craftsmanship is closer to the minimum, but if it is higher, the 3 rapids may be too much.
2. I did not use Ingenuity at all. Doesn't make very much difference on 3-stars, not enough to justify the cost IMHO. (I also didn't have enough cross class slots for it on LTW.)
3. I don't use a rigid rotation like the ones people have posted. I adapt based on how much CP I have to squeeze as many touches as possible.
4. ToT on every good until it's time for Byregot's.
5. Keep Comfort Zone up. I was using it like 3 or 4 times per craft.
6. Used Master's Mend 2 as my primary durability skill. I tried to use it twice on every craft and used lesser skills like MM1 and WN when I couldn't afford to do MM2 again but had some extra CP.
7. If you can't max out your IQ stacks, reclaim. I make the decision to Reclaim right before popping Great Strides.
8. Get in as many touches as you can. If your IQ is maxed out, each touch should be getting you 300 more quality. One or two touches above IQ cap makes a huge difference.
9. It is important to "fish" for a good/excellent for Byregot's. As soon as you pop GS, you should pounce on any good conditions that come, even if Innovation is not up. I use Innovation as a filler to get another chance for Good. Observe is also a decent filler skill (only 14 cp). If you have enough CP and don't need your cross class slots for other things, Ingenuity can also be used as a filler while fishing for Good/Excellent.

You DO need to keep in mind, that we can meld on top of the crafted gear. People like myself whose static broke apart won't be able to farm Final Coil. As far as I know we don't have a way of upgrading the Poetics gear to i130 unless we do Final Coil. Since we can meld desirable stats onto the new gear, it will rise the benefit to higher than i120 gear at least. I always thought fully melded crafted gear was effectively on par with raid loot, if not just behind. The following table I used based off of tank loot.

Edit* And now, after posting that table, as I think about it . . . I might take that back. IDK if Primary stats are even meldable on this gear, and a 13 point swing/piece is not something to scoff at.

Any and all crafted equipment that comes with a main attribute and is High Quality, is already capped on the two main attributes. Example: Saurian Boots of Striking HQ has 18 Strength, 18 Dexterity, and 20 Vitality as main attributes, all 3 of which are capped on the High Quality version and can not be melded further, but the NQ version has 16 Strength, 16 Dexterity and 16 Vitality, the NQ boots can be melded with +2 Str, +2 Dex and +4 Vit to meet the HQ version's, but that also takes away from the more important aspect of melding, secondary attributes. But the NQ/HQ melding rules have been the same for all equipment so far up until 2.4, so I don't see why it would ever be any different for the i110.

DoH / DoL equipment doesn't give you Primary stats, we weren't having a conversation based on the obvious. We were speculaing about usefulness for crafting DoW/M gear.

As a note, if you have 405+ Craftsmanship, that third Rapid will complete the craft. However, if you have 412+ Craftsmanship, you can do PbPx2, Rapidx2, CS2x2, all without Ing2. It's basically the same as you do, except with one less 80% chance. Also, having a CS2 that you can stick anywhere to waste time is really nice for those times that SH2 is down but you're at 25/30 durability. You can use your free CS2, then MM2, then refresh SH2 instead of losing a tick of SH2 to the MM2 or doing an HT without SH2 up.

Multi-part post incoming since my character limit is 1000 characters...

Even though it seems people in general have good rotations down, I'd like to share what I do as well. I succeeded 3/3 (first 38%, second 65%ish, third 88%ish) with 399 Craftsmanship and 384 Control (so no artisan offhand, no supra), 395 CP with HQ Bouillabaisse.

1. I ALWAYS use ToT when it's up. (Exception being when it's time for Byregot's)
2. I use CZ at least 3 times, potentially 4 with good luck.
3. Each time, I used Master's Mend 2 TWICE. This is important because it will give you a lot more chances to get those 11 IQ stacks. Even when I barely had enough CP to use it again, I would. This is banking off the fact that with CZ + ToT you'll be able to get enough CP by the time you hit 20 dura.
4. As others have said, you have to fish for a Good or Excellent near the end.
5. CP is always going to be an issue. For example, you may only have enough CP for GS+BB, without SH up. Your call.

My rotation is as follows (always prioritize ToT over everything):

CZ
IQ
SH II
PbP x2
Ingenuity 2
Rapid Synthesis x2 (if one of these failed, I continued knowing I could reclaim or use the NQ for supra later)
CS II (make sure you're only 1 CS II away from completion now)
(Reapply CZ as soon as it wears)
SH II
Hasty Touches
MM II
SH II + Hasty Touches
(Reapply CZ somewhere in here)
MM II
(Reapply CZ again if possible. At this point I would sometimes only have ~20 CP, but 80 dura left and a fresh CZ up. This is okay, so long as you had good ToT procs)
SH II + Hasty Touches
At 20 durability, do the typical BB finisher. This is highly dependent upon how lucky you got with ToTs. One time I was only able to do GS + BB, another time I managed to get GS, Innovation, Ingenuity II, and BB on a good. This is where you'll have to judge for yourself, and also decide if you want to reclaim or not.
CS II to finish it off

It's a little messy, but that's because it varies depending on how things go. The biggest key here, imo, is getting those 2 MM IIs in, as it makes a huge difference. This allows you to miss a Hasty Touch or two and still end up with 11 IQ stacks.

Oh, something to keep in mind. If you use the crafting simulator located at http://www.ffxivcrafter.com/crafting...ep=selectclass, it does not properly calculate the progress values for Ingenuity II for the new stuff. For instance, for 4* items, it tells me that Rapid under Ing2 gives 169 progress, but in the game, I get 145 progress. The crafting simulator at http://ffxiv.lokyst.net/ has the same issue. I suspect that the Ing2 nerf that came out a little while back works differently than people thought.

I'm not sure if it's right on the token items. I didn't pay enough attention to them.

This is ridiculous.. trying to make Intricate Silver Brocade and have 2 HQ and 9 NQ, well actually 14 NQ if you count the ones I turned in for my tool. RNGesus hates me :( I don't think I understand how reclaim works. I have not gotten back any of my FC3's. Soooo much Spicy Tomato Relish.. ugh. My current stats with HQ Bouillabaisse are 451 Craftsmanship, 404 Control, and 395 CP. All my crafts are at 50, so I have access to all the actions. Is there any way to increase my chances of getting that last HQ I need? Oh, and by the way, are the NQ Intricate Silver Brocades good for anything?

You can desynth Bridesmaids gear and Best mans gear for cheap. Nothing over 18k and that will get you FCIII's. NQ Brocades are for your Supra.

I just want to say thank you very much Waef/Fighting Mongooses for your tips on the last page. Following your suggestions I was able to get the last 2 HQs I needed for Blacksmith after having tons of fails doing things differently and another FC member gives his thanks as well. I would just like to add that anyone doing this may want to consider Rumination just in case you end up screwing up CP-wise or you end up on the turn where you need to use Byregot's Blessing but don't get a Good or Excellent. Rumination at this point will very likely give you the CP you need for reclaim.

My FC member is working on Leatherworker and they are unfortunately the only craft that can't do that because of limited cross-class slots.

Yes i tried to make that obvious (i could have simply careful II the poor away), just wondering if there are others. Guessing there are.

Did this the other day on my LTW. Stars aligned for sure. Sad this is what crafting has become but hey... If you cant beat em, join em. My highest with a good rating has been 85%.

Did this rotation 3 times and ended up with 793 of 801 progress. Use the simulator and it also shows 793 of 801 progress.

My craftsmanship is 434, Control 390 and cp 392 (with buff)

The simulator says craftsmanship of 450 is needed for this macro to succeed.
