I think some of this is lack of understanding from the husband / wife.

If you had friends over to play poker or some other card game and said "sure ill do it after this hand" I expect that would be fine.

Just because the other members of your team arent physically present doesn't make them less real.

Had to leave a group unexpectedly today. Just got into a random dungeon when my close friend texts/calls in a crisis (can't really say what it was, as it's a personal matter). She asked if I could go meet her downtown immediately. So, I had no real choice but to let the party wipe without a healer, then apologize a couple times and said I had to go.

Not that I necessarily "regret" leaving, as it was important, but still felt like crap for doing that to the party. :-/

There are some dumb reasons people just up and leave for and serious reasons. I myself don't give a reason if I have to leave that way no one can yell at me. I apologize to the party of course and wait a few moments to see if anyone has something to say of course. I also don't leave for a stupid reason but this is a game in the end and RL is always greater.

Don't bother playing if you can't commit. Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns for the Ninth Time needs more sales.

Shit happens. We're all human, we make mistakes. And what does his dog staying outside have anything to do with it? Some dogs are outdoor dogs. Who are you to judge his choices?

Should he just have let his dog stay outside and get eaten just so his virtual team-mates don't die? Your party can return and re-do the fight; once his dog dies, it can't return.

Priorities as well. My static was in the middle of T7 when my mum yelled out to me that our dog was vomiting blood. I had to immediately rush him to the vet with barely a word to my static because, well, blood in vomit. What's your 'method' for preventing my situation? "Don't let your dog vomit blood"? Sorry, princess, not all of us live a problem-free and sterilised world like you. Shit happens.

^This. Both my husband and I game, so we understand. However, my lil bro's wife doesn't game but also understands that he needs a second while playing to get something done that can't be paused.

On Topic: I've had people join a PF party, only to say: "Oh sorry gtg, time for raid" Not 3 seconds after they join ... like srsly, you joined but knew you had to raid soon? What..?

Well actually time IS being wasted. When that person you have to look for another person which may take 20mins and in those 20mins you could have cleared the fight by that time.

And people I think we all know it's a game, but it's a game that involves other people enjoyment and your making your self part of that enjoyment when you join there party.
If you grandma's hair set on fire of if your dog drove the car through your garage door fair enough but randomly leaving after joining can be disrespectful if leave due to a fault on your end.

This one is a BS excuse, they probably finished their entries for a Grand Company hunting log then bailed. What's more annoying is individuals that complete their entries then pretend to afk so they get kicked to circumvent the timer. I once had a quarn party where the healer tried to pull that stunt, we let them sit around while the black mage and summoner took turns healing. Healer gave up on getting kicked and left.

If SE added the last boss of the dungeon to those logs or swapped one of the other entries with the last boss these players would have no choice but to see the dungeon through to completion.

It is because this is a recreation, that you cannot ask the same commitment out of another as you are providing in a randomized group. And the fact that there are players here attempting to apply another's value of hobbies to theirs is nothing new, nor is it correct.

This has long been an argumentative precedent in hobbies. In bowling, you have the serious leagues, and you have the casual ones. Neither are wrong for their approach, but the serious leagues often forget they're using a casual venue to press their hobby.

In short, if your using Duty finder to fill in a pug? You're in the casual league, and you're playing by casual rules. Don't like it? Don't Pug. SE already accommodates the more dedicated by allowing experts and hard mode roulette to be completed in a party, as well as the use of Party Finder. It's the best they can do when you figure they're trying to accommodate millions.

Real Life is more important than a video game hobby, period. It's on the player to not abuse that fact, but it does not change the truth of it. Trying to judge the equivalent of a person you meet on the field for a casual game of golf to act the same way as you, simply because you chose to sign up for the local golf club, is kinda crazy.

It goes both ways, but you don't judge another for having a busier life, or valuing the hobby less than you when you're relying on the system that pools you with someone who treats the game more casually than you.

Aye I can agree on it working both ways. I have no issues if someone leaves to a emergency but it's mainly things like "oh Dinner is ready" then leave 2 mins after entering or I have work in 15 mins knowing well they there getting into a fight that has a good chance of it lasting more then 15 mins.

This is kind of a pain, people who join a group only to leave almost immediately after. It's silly.

I find it interesting that "oh dinner is ready" and leaves is usually about the time it takes for a LEARNING GROUP to wipe 3 times on ex primal.

I encounter this "coincidence" quite a lot.

Same with Nexus Farm Runs. Almost after every run "smoke/drink/toilet". I mean, for almost all of these you can use a full or empty bottle of

That made me laugh. I've actually yelled that to the guys in our primal parties, just for giggles. They said they had to go loo and I just yelled 'You're a guy, use a bottle!'.

Anyway, yes RL > anything. But for the love of God, use your brain. If you have to go to school in 10, don't raid. Go do a FATE. If you know someone is making dinner, GO HELP THEM! Why are you on a blasted videogame? Set the table, do the dishes, clear out the garbage. Make yourself useful in RL instead of making yourself a hinderance to others in an MMO.
Basically, don't queue up or join a PF if you know that you have to leave soon. In case of kids? Explain the situation beforehand, I'm sure no one would mind and everyone would understand. If they wouldn't, they're not the players you should be hanging out with then in the first place.

Once I was OT on titan HM (via roulette) and half way through the 3rd phase I got a call from my mother asking for me to come to her house to watch the builders while she had to go to the docs because she was ill. After the 3rd wipe I said that I needed to leave in 10 mins to catch a bus to do this and one of the healers immediately got on my case and kept snipping at me, it was really annoying. Only after I said: "Well I apologise on my mothers behalf for being ill and the bus drivers behalf for working to a timetable for me having to leave then" and then explaining that my first phone call was her asking me to come around at very short notice. We managed to clear it and I literally had to run out the door as soon as I got out the instance.

How was I meant to know that this would happen? The healer said to me "You shouldn't join a titan fight because they always take ages", right, for starters, titan fights don't always take ages, second it was via roulette and I can't read the future and lastly have some decency and don't auto assume people are leaving because they're too stupid to tell the time.

I was in that instance for around 30 mins, thats the longest I've ever been in there and I was OT anyway, not like you were going to be missing much.

I can understand if you have a emergency or something happend that you did not expect like a sibling who needs a lift or your kid is awake etc. What I dont understand is when players join a dungeon knowing that after 10-15 minutes, they have to log off and head to school or work. I am a student and I know that logging in at 7 AM so I can do a run is not going to work for me or the rest of the group. I will take the spot of someone who could have done the whole run and I wish alot more players understood this. Its obvious that some players (DPS) have a longer queue, so they want to finish the dungeon fast, so they can head to wherever it is that they need to go.

But can you guys (quiters) please explain to me why you join a dungeon knowing that you have to leave in 1-15 minutes?

PS: I hate when they log off without leaving the group.

Leave because of something you knew prior or have complete control over?: You're most likely a jerk and a large waste of other's time.

Just be considerate and don't join something if you need to leave before it might be over. Sure, you could get a lucky fast run, or you could get a longer average run. Don't inconvenience others because you are impatient and greedy.

I queued for 23 mins as my level 25 archer today, Finally got in. Healers says wait a min I need to change TVs. about 45 seconds go by they are back never DCing or anything so I have no clue what was up with that.

4-5 pulls later the Tank go I need to go AFK brb sorry.

7 mins go by I vote to dismiss, And the vote gets turned down.
I asked to be vote kicked then, The other DPS goes no need I will do my hunts and leave. So I disband the Duty finder.

And wait another 17 min in the queue.

If you don't have time to set a side to play, PLEASE DON'T QUEUE UP.

I understand stuff coming up IRL. If it does and it may take more then 2 mins take the hit vs slowing everyone else down.

Today waited 30 minutes as THM16. Tam Tara popped. Duty starts after people get out of CS. Tank leaves.

Why would you do that? I reaaally want to give him the benefit of the doubt. But considering a tank before always withdrew right when the df poped up I don't know what to think

Was running ST shortly after its release. A tank said and I quote, "Sorry my entire family was just in an extremely deadly car accident, I need to go."
