I never said you were attacking their money. That was an example of the replies people have given in this thread. Um what? No they didn't post in replies that he could have solved his problem in any number of ways. He further posted about the things he did to try and solve his problem already, which included buying the phones, of which were dead-ends.

Ok finally, your first legitimate point. Yes, the OP could have found people that didn't care about TS and yes the OP could have focused their thread more on TS usage in XIV. Arguing these points is what people should have done rather then make personal attacks.

OP stated their Iphone was busted. Really the best and only solution available to them is to find a group of players that don't mandate TS or similar voice programs.

Only voice chat I have access to is the built in PS4 party chat. As I'm old school and refuse to pay for ridiculous smart phones that nobody actually needs..lol

I'm sad that this thread devolved into this mess. Maybe the OP was hoping that someone might find some sort of a suggestion to keep him playing even with the issues he has.

There are far too many ffxiv apologists here to understand why people are leaving. It's good for them to not care if people want to leave but why bother posting about it? Seriously

He dropped near a grand on ps4 and an iphone. Then bought a phone that doesnt even support TS(why one would not take a few min to look up if it supports TS or not is beyond me). If one can go spend 500+ on iphone b/c of teamspeak, then go buy a phone w/o even looking to see if it supports what they want, BUT somehow doesn't come to a conclusion to get a cheap laptop/cheap mic headset that costs less than iphone(which wouldve let OP continue to just use the android phone they already had), then I dont think it matters what people suggest. Definitely dont wanna hear about paying bills solo after all that money was spent unwisely with what seems like little thought(based on what info OP has provided). Dots somewhere arent connecting in OP thought process.

This game and any other multiplayer game that doesn't have ingame voice chat is outdated. I feel you OP I hear DC Universe is coming out with a new expansion soon, and Destiny is really fun as well if you like those kind of games, either way I wish you well on whatever games you choose to play in the future.

kinda late, but eh. hate to be mean about it, but one person said it before. should have looked up if the phone would support it. also, what thoughts were running thru your head to spend $500 on a phone? Not just once, but twice. at the first phone bought (the 5c) i would think most would get insurance on it in case something happened, or simply bought the same phone from before. this is less a "the game doesnt have this so im leaving" thread and more along the lines of "i made some poor choices after some bad luck and spent too much money" kind of thread.

I apologize for my blunt statement, towards OP and SDaemon. You have to admit however, the scenario is a bit weak. Bad planning all around if you don't have a contingency plan to solve such a simple problem.

We need to bug Teamspeak for a WP8.1 or a Windows TH version of TS3.
With the announcements today, it should give them a nice opportunity to pop into the WP Market.

As others have said, this game does not require voip. Voip makes stuff easier...but you can play the game just fine, and progress just fine, without it.
Sorry you have had such bad luck with it tho!

Since the Windows phone had Skype, and a Store, I assumed it could get TS. I guess I shouldn't have got PS4 then, huh, since it hasn't been used for one of the main reasons I got it for.

Wow by that argument since this game doesn't have voice chat it doesn't deserve to exist.

Just wanted to put this in about parties using voice chat...
I was recently in a ram ex PF that when we enterted the instance the leader poped a TS link and pass(I responded that I don't have TS) and that was that... the level of coordination between these people was horrible. I had seen better coordination from a DF than from them. I had people running after me with thunderstorm(and I was closest to the tank so nowhere much to run anymore) instead of going to a less crowded place. I died multiple times because of overlap either normaly or when charmed.

So yeah... voice chat won't help bad players be decent.

There is a small bit of truth in this. You can get a really cheap and crappy pc or laptop for as little as 20-50 dollars depending on where you are. matter of fact, looking on craigslist, people are literally GIVING AWAY pcs for FREE that are capable of running ts. if you really cant afford that, then you probably cant afford to pay a subscription for ffxiv. you need to focus on bills more.

OP just literally spent almost a grand on expensive hardware. not having ts access is unacceptable, and someone that cares that little about his gameplay experience is detrimental to my gameplay experience.

Going to say this since I've seen this many, many times. When something goes wrong for a person they feel the need to vent, and say they are never doing so and so again. And then after a few months after the tantrum has left their system they come back to play anew (Usually as a new character as well)

1 - Find nice players instead of jerks.

2 - Stop wasting money on crap (500 for a phone... really? What are you trying to do? Keep up with the Jones?).

3 - Pay your bills and other necessities in real life and THEN worry about the game.

4 - Get a PC/Laptop

You should reply to them "If you need TS access in order to do content, you should stop playing altogether."

Why not try to find a group or FC that doesn't require TS? Why quit the whole game over this? Or is this something YOU want? If that's the case, then idk. I haven't done any of the higher level stuff yet (ie: coils) but I can't see why not using TS would make this impossible. If everyone in your group uses it except you, then yeah I can see that being a problem, but then like I said just find a new group that doesn't use it.

Maybe a little, but tbh, I have been literally homeless, living at the salvation army homeless shelter, and still had TS access, which was my lifeline(and quite another story). OP has admitted to having an ffxiv subscription, and having bought hardware beyond that. heck, if you live in the US, you can go to a public library and get ts access.

Yeah OP should totally go down to their local library, ask them to install ARR on their PCs and get to playing. -_-

ROFL! Actually, funny story, ffxiv ARR IS installed on two computers at my towns library. A couple months ago, the library was lacking in funding, so was asking for donations, and we asked if we could donate to have a spot to put two gaming PC's into the library, and they let us put them in one of the private rooms, as a "Young Adult area".

Not saying thats a great idea, and not even saying that having ts access in a library is a worthwhile thing anyways (no talking lolwut?) I was just giving an example. I mean, if you can pay shipping, ill even give you a ts compatible computer completely free. I have a bunch of junk ones just sitting in my basement collecting dust, and don't want to pay disposal fees.

all this is off topic, though. OP is just saying they want to quit because of lack of voice support. I have found that most of the ones "requiring" voice support don't actually require talking, only listening for commands. that lowers the requirements even further. you mentioned having a windows phone, have you considered setting up a tunneling interface through Skype on a friends (assuming any of us hardcore gamers have irl friends) computer?
