Good question. Hoping for that exact notion!

I mean the whole plot in the instance the fence, the yard, everything. In XI, the Mog House was a room but I wasn't referring to that in particular. I was referring to it as an instance. They made the Mog Garden also, similar an instance.
These wards are apparently too much interface wise for the amount of players who play the game. The old instances were easier on the games parameters and was able to accommodate more players. I understand the want to have neighbors and a whole neighborhood, I like it too. It's just a suggestion.
Complete disaster. FC's competing for limited plots with solo players? And identical prices regardless of solo or group purchase? I was getting kind of excited about the idea of a personal house but like many others, I almost don't care anymore. The largest I'd ever get is a medium but come on, that price... I really do feel SE keeps catering to the mega-rich in this game.
If you can't afford it now, your plot will be snapped up by someone else by the time you can. :P Then when new wards are released the prices will remain nasty.
I'm really disappointed in this, I've been looking forward to and saving up for personal housing for a while now. I'm on a legacy server so I can play with people I know, but I don't have any legacy savings. I bet the same can be said for a lot of other people on the server as well. ):
And while I can afford a personal room, what I've been really looking forward to is the gardens. I'm in a FC, but its 130 or so members and I'm bottom of the ladder for privileges, so I'm not going to be able to use the gardens for a long time, if at all.
I feel like I've been inciting a riot ever since I first quoted Yoshi-P's original comment on personal housing on Reddit.
Behind that 100%, have been saving gil for this and going off something I heard a few months ago about personal housing being at the cheapest around 850k, estimating roughly 15-25m at the cheapest for personal large housing, wake up from a nap and glance at patch notes............ 70-87.5m for BOTH FC and Personal housing and to top it off, sharing the same wards....... thanks for the slap in the face and the lie.
New thought, /slap emote was added....find out where Yoshi's character is, make a character on his server, spam the search player function, follow him and spam /slap emote and add in "YOU LIED TO US!"
Personally, I want affordable housing, in actual housing districts (not related to FCs), with race related housing (by which I mean sizing).
None of those things are here and I've given up hope that they ever will be.
BEST TROLL PATCH EVER hehe. This is even better than the atma adjustment patch. SE is really on a roll for troll patches hehe.
I'm also confused... given that they've just copy/pasted FC housing, but limited it to one character ownership; why have they only added two wards? o.O
While I can understand some people's outrage at how personal housing is Implemented, I find myself not too overly disappointed by it. While having your own personal house is great, only reason I bother getting one for their convenience of having several utilities of the game all being centrally located. In the case of this game that would retainers, market board, armoire, cut-scene book, vendor, mender, and various other aspects of the game. We already have several of these available to our FC houses, with plans to make more available. As long as I get my central hub I'll be happy.
To everyone out there though that were hoping to get your own slice of the game, I do sympathize with you. There are not nearly enough plots in each ward to justify having FCs and individuals compete for land. Best of luck to all of you on getting the personal housing you wanted.
Even if I wasn't on a legacy server I wouldn't have enough. For a small house. Super disappointing. I guess I'll try to save up enough to buy one when 2.4 hits. Hopefully they don't mess it up even worse.
Can't afford a house.. apparently... mmm Legacy server ... but I was looking forward to new scenery when I could afford one.. after all... If they can make new scenery in La Noscea and keep upgrading Revenants' Toll.. how hard can it be to make a ward? All they really needed to do was move a few things around from the FC wards and bam! looks new to me!
They made new Fate monsters for Dragon Quest.. new pets new gear.. but new Terrian assets are too hard?
What really worries me is Yoshi's post on doubling the current wards in 4.0, and the current ones being limited due to servers.. the 0.3 movement thing was due to server issues too iirc.. exactly how bargin basement are the servers they have? Did they plan on expanding servers for the new instances of wards or not? Did they plan for increased server load at all? How many of the planned updates or ideas are being held back by these "servers issues"???
Let me start by saying that I have zero interest in personal housing, I don't care for it, but SE made a mistake when they went with this design choice.
All they had to do was to make it instanced like a Mog House from FFXI, with maybe a 1 bird stable (Make the bird peek in through the window?) and sold flower pots as furniture, and you can invite people in your party into the room. and they should have just made this available at every city, and the housing area via a gate of some sort. (And maybe made this free like in XI. You start with with one, but something like 500k is fine too.)
That would have gave people a personal house of sorts, and left FCs with the current house design.
But they chose the worst and most lazy path and nobody is happy. Somebody go fetch Tanaka.
This seething, soul crushing disappointment seems refreshingly unanimous... :p
I guess I just don't understand implementing a feature knowing it would upset such a large portion of the community. It's like they want their fanbases' ire.
Throwing in my agreement that this implementation of personal housing is entirely inadequate. Two new wards simply isn't enough by itself for the release of personal housing. Even doubling it isn't sufficient ot meet the needs of some servers.
Plus by implementing it as is now they close the door on possibly going with instanced personal housing without upsetting those who have already purchased personal housing.
Add Lord of the Rings Online to that list. It even has an almost identical 'Ward' structure, and even has guild housing in the same wards as personal housing... but they were separate and it WORKS FLAWLESSLY. Housing is easy, relatively inexpensive, and fun. Houses were shared across all of your characters, too, so you just needed ONE.
They did it exactly how I expected them to. No anger from my corner.
My only question is considering FC and personal housing share the same ward is will the devs stick to their guns about the future thought of if a FC doesn't access a house in 35 days the house and land goes poof? If that's the case oh I wonder if all the people that said "its totally okay if an FC loses their home coz of inactivity due to breaks or what not BUT DON'T TOUCH MY PERSONAL HOUSE IF I TAKE A BREAK!!!" will be singing the same song of praise and agreement to this now that were all in the same wards.
i will only say one thing:
5000-6000 player per server... seriously SE even if you double the actual number of land it will never be enough for everybody!
maybe i'm paranoid, but why wildstar and game like this one can offer housing for every person on the server... when SE seems to have trouble with them server?
1) they have low cost server barely enough for a big mmorpg.
2) they are limited by something else, understand here the limitation of the console (what i doubt, but i will not get ride of this idea)
3) or both...
now it's the time to stop doing nothing good and work on true server able to support fully ff14, it's really important. and if it's not this but the ps3 memory limitation that affect this (what it's possible even if it's maybe push a bit too much) it's time to think about drop the ps3 support fast. PC player deserve to have a decent mmorpg experience!
Even when I could afford up to a medium house in a cheap plot, I don't like being lied to.
You guy specificaly told personal housing would be cheaper than FC housing so I'm not gonna drop all my gamelife savings for this.
Also having FCs and individuals fight for the same land?...way to bond the community...
WTF personal housing....not enough place for everyone and the price...wow
I'm a casual player, I just do dungeon/raid. I don't have time to do money with DoL or DoH. Event with the half price in 30 day, I won't be able to buy a house.
I'm starting to think about leaving FFXIV for an other MMO....any suggestion ?
At this point, I'm to the point where I'm really hesitant to go for ANYTHING Squarenix right out the gate. It seems like their current business model is:
1) Put something out without really thinking it through
2) Have everyone be disappointed and complain about it, possibly causing a failure of the thing
3) Go back and change things up, make extra profit on it.
We've seen it with the FFXIII games, which I've heard from many people were much better in the latter games, but I can't get through FFXIII to find out for myself. We saw it with the original launch of FXIV. Now we're seeing it with some parts of this game. The original FC housing prices. Player housing. The original release of the Hunts that were skewed and that they're still slowly fixing. Even the FATE system that they keep shoving down our throats, despite their implementation of the system being badly flawed and annoying.
Personally I'm just getting worn down. -_- I won't stop playing altogether, but it looks like my short break to play Destiny will probably extend a bit longer, with me barely logging on here again, rather than me being on a lot to tweak out my house and care for my gardens, like I'd planned.
Oh, and that's another huge separate issue: we were relying on private housing to take the burdens off our FC gardens since they've overloaded THOSE so horribly. So much for that idea: I wouldn't be at all surprised if NO ONE in our FC was able to get a residential plot of their own, at least this go-round. Which means at least another month of limping along, trying to grow everything plus the kitchen sink for our members in just our two FC plots.
I have had my own personal FC house for a long time now so this patch doesn't really mean anything to me. Still this is just plain lazy and dumb. It's like they completely forgot about all the outrage that came with the intro to FC housing, except many times worse because you expect individuals to afford this. There is nothing new and exciting, just here let us remove the having to be in FC restriction. Just lazy. I want this game to succeed, but pissing in off a large amount of the playerbase out of pure incompetence if disheartening. Makes it difficult to be excited for any other upcoming content.
I have to admit absolute and utter disappointment with their lack of foresight and poor judgement. As a role-player, housing is important to me, and though there are many who will not care/it will not effect, there are many more who were truly looking forward to this feature of the game, myself included.
Myself and my fellow FC-mates have just moved here from WildStar (where housing came with the whole package) and we knew we would need to scrape and save for a Free Company house and all of the benefits that affords us as a role-play group and Free Company alike. It's taken us several weeks to even amass the 575,000 gil we have in the bank (many of us are still low) and we were hoping beyond hope that we would be able to afford a FC House in October, but judging by our lack of gil-raising and how quick these houses are now going to go being that they're both FC & Personal, we are so... so totally screwed.
Not to mention, that if they had been around the 850k gil mark, many of us maybe would have just bought our own personal houses, enjoyed those, while we continued to try to scrape and save for our FC house and now that idea is also shot to the wind.
It's a damn shame. What a poor, poor choice.
I usually just lurk these forums but I felt like I should also say that this was a big disappointment, not because its too expensive, but because it was so poorly executed and shows little effort. I'm sure there's many lurkers who feel the same as we all do.
I am highly disappointed in this. All SE did was open the option to purchase a house individually instead of having to be in a free company to do it... Price are ridiculous for personal housing. It's the same as Free Company costs, how is that fair?? And seeing as though I'm on a world that has a high amount of gil in circulation, I'm having to pay an arm, a leg, my first born child and possibly my second born too...
I realize many have already said the same thing, I'm just adding my voice to the masses of how disappointing this is...
What happened to personal housing prices differing from FC housing? Wasn't this supposed to be much more affordable? Seriously, wtf...
Housing didn't need to be as complete as a whole house dangit. We've taken a whole step backwards from moghousing here people. Instead of housing for each player we now only have a small percentage of the player base being served by extremely expensive FC houses they buy for themselves.
This is something players could do already, with a bit of extra work. They just cut out twinking an FC to get the housing permit. It's literally a cut/paste job with requirements cut for one rich players to beat out other FCs that have been working towards a house.
My problem with all this is that on servers like Balmung there are many FCs without a house, even still. And those "personal houses" are shutting out FCs and, in turn, HUNDREDS of people from even a room in a FC house.
If server/resource space is so precious, this was the biggest waste of it ever created.
As AliceKaye and Qaaliaa have mentioned, I don't think SE realized how many FCs got screwed over by this patch.
Also, when they do release more wards, don't they realize the exact same thing will happen? Patch will go live, ten minutes later all the small plots are gone.
Honestly, I don't think it's a lack of realization as to what will happen when they're full. I think the lack of realization is how many people will/have been interested in this feature. I think it's a lack of caring about it to begin with. But what they seem to forget is that we hold their company in our hands. We pay our monthly payments and we're the ones who buy their stock. When FFXIV 1.0 tanked, they felt that. That's why they did everything in their power to (i.e. starting completely over) in order to save face. I'm not saying that housing is anywhere near as detrimental as 1.0 was, but what I am saying is, if they continuously screw over their paying clients (us), people will begin to speak with their wallets and they're going to stop paying for lies.
Usually I just roll with the punches. They make their decisions and I do what I can with them. This time, I have an entire group of people who are going to be furious and disappointed and I am going to have to deal with them and their unrest at the situation, and it isn't even my decision in this matter.
They really need to retract this, rethink it and improve on this. All of these, 'sincerest apology' messages I've seen from Yoshida since this went live make me so angry. If you're so sorry, fix the damn problem.
Lets not forget folks, that they didn't need to add additional servers to handle our personal housing. Just have the new Mog Apartments replace our Inn rooms!
Apparently the JP can't even log in right now.
So at best they will be "doubled" according to the producer.
How the F is that acceptable?!
Even if they were quadrupled it wouldn't even begin to be enough.
This is supposed to be PERSONAL HOUSING!!!!!!!
Now which part of those two words are you not understanding?!?!
This is the worst housing system I've ever seen in a videogame and that means even PSU had a better system.
I feel utterly betrayed by this. I've been saving only for this one thing and all the gil I have by now is nowhere near enough for even the smallest of plots in the worst spot on the lowest pop server out there.
