You're defending this point way too hard. You're not a moderator, let them deal with it if it's a problem. Not sure why you think it concerns you.

Hoping that SE already have plans to deal with this soon, probably limiting how much friend requests people can send within a set time frame might work? I mean I am pretty sure no ordinary people would send 100+ friend request within an hour.
how do you know he is a RMT ? I always ask this question. What you perceive to be and what is, isnt necessary the reality. If you see someone doing the same things over and over and over again, either of the two, he is effectively a bot or he is just a player that needs stuff for selling or crafting, so in truth, putting the name up on these boards may end up exposing someone that is potentially innocent ....which is why that politic exists. What you want to believe isnt importnat only proved facts will determine if someone is or is not a RMT until it is proven it doesnt belong to any of us to expose anybody on the wall of shame.
There are very very much less gil sellers then it used to be a couple of months ago. That is already a HUGE improvement. Getting rid of them definitedly is not possible, but there are far less then it used to be and that alone is a huge improvement.

Didn't think this was a problem, till last night, when I went afk in ul'dah for an hour, came back to six people trying to add me as a friend, all level 1 glad and a lot of rmt spam
I really hope this is nipped in the bud fast, some sort of limitation of requesting friend is needed urgently, and not "we will deal with it in 2.4 maybe"
I had one repeatedly friend requesting me yesterday. It's a pain in the ass. I don't understand why we can't just right-click blacklist like when they turn up on our /tells.
Incorrect - "regular players" do far more harm to the economy than RMT ever has or will. RMT aren't the ones putting up items for 7-20 million simply because it's "new".
Regular players.Quote:
1. You wonder why that glamour prism you like so much jumped from 3k to 10k? Real Money Traders.
Showing the item off - Notice how a lot of these are tagged by a player because chances are it's crafted?Quote:
You see players posting a sale of an item for 99,999,999 gil? They are buying from Real Money Traders.
Same reason VIT stuff skyrocketed back in the day - When people find something out formula wise, it gets popular = more people will want to buy it = higher pricesQuote:
Ever wonder why MP prices skyrocket so much at times? Real Money Traders.
It is pretty darned easy to make money in this game - ESPECIALLY if you can easily automate it so that the money-making can be performed 24/7. 3 dollars per minion, and they're probably making bank so long as they're able to find customers to buy. (And at $3 per million, a lot of people are going to be tempted.)
That's the danger so few people seem to understand about RMT. They aren't evil because they gouge customers. Rather just the opposite - they make it way too easy to acquire gil, and in doing so introduce that much more gil into the economy. This drives prices up since gilbuyers are willing to spend more on items than legit players (if you actually have to WORK for your money, you tend to be more frugal with it).
In the worst case, it reaches the point where players pretty much have to buy gil in order to afford even basic necessities, and this is a plateau gilsellers would LOVE to reach. An MMO where nearly everyone is buying their prodcuct? RMT paradise! Thankfully, harsh lessons from FFXI will (hopefully) have taught SE to recognize the symptoms and crack down if it ever looks like this will be a danger.
I think some people are missing that Bots are generally the ones selling stuff - and they sell low to sell more quickly - which in turn drives prices down. (example of this is most materia on the market board which bots find easy to make)
RMT are just advertising bots, and have nothing to do with the market directly, but are harmful to the game indirectly
Players who use RMT money on the other hand - THEY are the ones who will pay 20mil for a bikini without working for it. This isnt to say that a rare or hard to craft item shouldnt be pricey, and just like the the real world people will buy&sell higher for exclusivity while its new. Unfortunately, it is impossible for the crafter or hunter to tell if the purchase is legit or not, so can only assume innocence until proven guilty.
So... this thread is still going??
In all fairness, if a moderator had or has an issue with this thread, then let them take action. No need for everyone else to play the part. its getting a bit outta hand of what originally started as a little thread.
