like i said most of that was either obvious or could have easily been addressed in a single paragraph at the start of the 1.19 details.

I still play this game because I enjoy chatting with and helping my LS friends. Also its free. Also there are no current MMOs I want to try on the market. I have invested a lot of time in this game but I dont really think of it like that anymore. I just look at it as a way to talk to online friends while helping them reach goals they have.
This is the major point that I got from the letter:
Class balance could be referring to cure/sac mp costs, recast timers, and whatnot. UI visibility, no clue because i haven't read any posts on this. SP for leves rank 20-30 is self explanatory, 300-800sp bonus per leve is basically a waste of Anima and Aspect, and in contrast to the sp gained from fighting mobs, it only accounts for maybe like a 15% overall bonus.Quote:
The topics we’ve gotten the most feedback on are class balance, UI visibility (which will be addressed in 1.18a), and skill points for levequests between ranks 20–30. We’ll be using this last week’s worth of feedback to decide where more adjustments are needed, and will be working on them and any further balancing that is necessary together with our 1.19 tasks and releasing them in smaller patches.
So thumbs up Yoshi, and thanks for letting us know that we will see improvements to these areas.
Not the greatest letter, but at least he acknowledged some of the balancing and sp issues that many of the players have vocalized. My only hope is that the "fixes" aren't regressive. A lot of what was slated for 1.19 should have fixed people's SP problems, while improving the game. I just hope they don't just go back to how it was pre-1.18 and then have to change their 1.19 plans. Same goes for class adjustments / stat adjustments. 1.19 is supposed to have huge changes to this, but seeing how much backlash came from these relatively smaller changes, I hope they don't decide to scale things back.
A stumble along the road should be corrected, but they shouldn't turn themselves around. They need to keep going forward.
i think for UI visibilty, some people were saying the highlighter for ur skills is hard to see so devs answered by saying that they are going to fix it to make it more visiable. also maybe the action bar bug where it wont let u scroll through different sets.
I wonder if this event again have anything to do with combat mobs again, event is cool but you know for ppl that choise to play only craft, mobs killing is a bit of force em to do thing they dont want and have to wait for someone to sell the event item and buy. Cant there be a event that not involve killing ?
I HERD U LYK HINTZ
The intrigue sparked by Yoshida-san's comment about looking for keys leads me to believe that this hasn't been picked up on by some:
A chest, or Chests, may be lying right out in the open.
A chest, or Chests, appear(s) as a reward for defeating the "underboss" and "megaboss."
A chest, or Chests, only appear(s) only if certain arbitrary conditionditions are met.
Experiment.
I really liked how he didnt even acknowledged all the cry babies about nerfing the raids. THANK GOD! as if its not easy enough
Nerfing raids would make this game... ______ (u can fill in the blank)
well... i will leave that option to u
Hey Nixius! ur R20? msg me in game sometime i need to rank my GLA!
I am glad he addresssed the drop off in skill points from leves. Started experimenting last night made a new character last night. To start the test. I stilll got old good skill point values from levels 1-10. By good i mean from 300-450 per kill depending on the difficulty rating. Gonna play this character till the drop off. to the point of my other two characters. These being lvl 22 which i can get between 100 and 200 per kill. I actaully find a worse drop off after lvl. 30. With my lvl. 32 lancer doing the 30 leves i only get about 125 per kill for 3 star diffuculty. i can't do higher with out dying.
Anyway love the updated and will love it more once it is tweaked.
I just wish it was easier to get a party for the lvl. 25 dungeon.
Also people remember we are basically participating in a long beta test, so be patient. They are basically having to start from scratch so we should not expect it to be perfect for some time.
Your totally right, we should just head back to the time where they didnt communicate with players in any way whatsoever. Then we could just reply in the forums for weeks at time wondering if SE is even reading anything we are posting, the whole time hearing nothing from SE's end that suggests they are going to fix any issues we are having. SE really is damned if they do and damned if they don't. People like you will complain no matter what they do.
I want my sexy bathing suit!
And can't wait for news on classes and what else is to come in the next 2 months!
Are you serious? If its easier to believe that then to believe that he felt obligated to respond due to the 1000's of posts on here since 1.18 dropped full of people whining about mp rates, class balance, ect. then w/e helps you sleep at night. This forum amazes me. Complaints by the millions, and then when they respond saying they are quickly trying to address your complaints, you complain more. Could not pay me enough to put up with all BS that people post on here.
And these forums were made for ?????
Comments, complaints, concerns, suggestions, discussion.
In any case, by saying 'we might have gone overboard' means he acknowledges either some of the changes were too drastic or too many changes were put out at once, Tho I don't think too many changes came out at once, I think they came out without enough testing and balance.
Yes i am very serious as he didn't say anything in his letter.... nothing at all. As someone pointed before, he didn't say what side of the fence he was on or what was going to happen. Nothing at all... he just stated the obvious. Unless we didn't read the same letter....
In my opinion the letter at least gives some indication that Yoshida is still paying attention to the playerbase, and he acknowledges that the changes may have been a little too much, too quick for some.
"The topics we’ve gotten the most feedback on are class balance, UI visibility (which will be addressed in 1.18a), and skill points for levequests between ranks 20–30. Ok so it doesn't say specifically that they will be adjusting any particular element yet and how, but the new update has only been live for a few days. They are being reactionary but not overboard. Otherwise, if he had made a post saying "Ok, a lot of you are saying that MP costs are too high so we're reducing them again" after just a day of the patch being in, then there would have been a s**t storm on the forums about that too.
I personally prefer the fact that there is a letter from Yoshida saying "Hey guys, we know quite a few of you are upset over some issues due to the changes made in 1.18 and we're looking into it closely" rather than having silence for weeks on end.
I can see how class balance could be one of the 'top 3' topics being discussed after the patch. but UI and leve skill points for 20-30? yea right.... I haven't seen any topics anywhere about levequests between 20 and 30 'Specifically'. Levequests as a whole yes...
But your right, it is partially a good thing that he didn't acknowledge the problems specifically right now. Or else the 'omg you people complain too much' people will have their own complaint threads lol.
The fun never ends.
This letter did one main thing
it ackknowledged some changes went too far, and they would be adjusted
quit your complaining you babies
I was happy to read this letter and the admittance of having gone too far with the balancing. I'm looking forwards to the incoming adjustments. \o/
I thought the exact same thing when I finished reading it. I think this was just a smoke screen for two possible reasons:
1. The negative feedback to some of the things they did in 1.18 has made them make changes to things that would be introduced in 1.19 as they realized players will not like them, and now he dare not say them as they will just bring even more complaints.
2. He just wanted to buy time because he didn't felt like going into detail about 1.19 this week.
Edit: The one thing I can take from the letter is that he admitted they made mistakes and went too overboard with some changes so all those fanatics barking at anyone who didn't agree 1.18 was the best thing ever and the exact vision of the producers can finally shut up. Players that had some issues with the patch were right.
I would quote from a past response but there are many of you commenting on his statement regarding going too far with balancing. Would someone mind giving me a few examples of what this might be referring to?
I think the main point of the letter was to let everyone know that he didn't believe the patch was the end all solution to every problem in the game and they are still hard at work making the game better. That being said 1.18 was an awesome start, the game is challenging now, this patch will effectively separate the wheat from the chaff. Those complaining that he didn't say anything... say what you really mean. "I'm mad because the letter didn't say we were going back to easy mode and I can't compete anymore now that it takes some skill.
Yoshi-P I like to personally thank you for the content you added with patch 1.18. This game is starting to feel more like XI than it ever did. Things are starting to get more challenging and you have to actually put some thought and strategy into fighting a mob. There are still some rough edges but I'm sure you guys will smooth things out over time. Keep up the good work and don't listen to the trolls.
Overall 1.18 was good imo, I think the main problem is the 10% death penalty being the 'overboard' part and didn't plan/look carefully on the mob placements or modifying gatherer leve quests since I read it's close to impossible to complete now.
Other than that I have no problems with 1.18; hopefully summer event next week 1.18a week after and if lucky 1.19 by 8/29-9/2...and 1.20 by 9/30
