If there are no plans maybe make it so people can't give commendations to those that are already at 500?

Can we at least trade in some of those points?
Just accumulating them is not satisfying and please dont let it be a secund veteran bonus...
Same with Odin and Behemoth ... let us trade them to other currencys, please!
I think i have already around 670 commendations. Started to play the game 2-3 months ago as whitemage. Never got seven commendations at once, but six a couple of times. I played the ramuh story fight for a whole day because i really enjoyed the fight & music and i wanted the levin orb/myth tomes. Because of that, i did always ask if someone is new and if so i posted a macro-guide for that fight to quickly help out. I have got a bit less then 100 commendations on that day.
But i agree with some more rewards for 1000+ commendations. Would be nice to have some shiny armor pieces or accessories. :)
I dunno, considering how easily commendations can be farmed I'm not surprised they aren't adding more rewards. People had the gold mount within a few days of it being released, the same thing would happen with further rewards.
Sucks for the legitimate people I know, and it's entirely possible that commendations in Guildhests were a bad idea to begin with.
Here ya go:

Good job :)
Jesus.. I'm still 15 away from getting the Gilded Magitek and there are people with 1k+? The hell?
Must be Tank/Healer primary, despite your forum thingy saying Lancer.
I feel pretty good about actually being able to get the gold magitek soon, a lot of people I know don't even have as many coms as I do. O.o And I've been playing since beta, granted the com system came out later.
It's not so much about being nice as it is about not being a total douche. If you were a healer, for instance, and the tank was an asshat the whole run, would you still go with the Healer <-> tank convention, or would you give your commendation to one of the DDs for a change? I know I would.
By the time you reaches 500 commendations, if you haven't had your douchebag tendencies ironed out of you there's probably no hope for you at all.
Most of the players dont give to anyone...
First ten tanks/healers get them so I get my 1k gil. After that im done. Unless there is someone that really stands out
It is still a bit about being nice, or at least professional. Most importantly, it's about not being an absolute jerk and knowing what to do and playing well with zero drama. I do follow the convention most of the time, unless I find one of the DDs was particularly good, helpful, or less of a jerk than the tank. :)
Best tips for getting commendations:
1) PATIENCE. Be quick, be forgiving of mistakes, but most important, DO NOT FREAK OUT if people are slow or bad. DO NOT FREAK OUT if the guy is standing in the fire (again). DO NOT FREAK OUT for any reason.
2) KNOWLEDGE. Know the fights, be ready to explain them. Be good at explaining them.
3) SKILL. Know your role, know your job. Be good at it, or at least:
4) FLEXIBILITY. Know when you need to step out of your role. If you're a healer, step into cleric stance if you need to help out the DDs. If you're a DD, be ready to peel off a mob from the healer and kite it (preferably to the tank). In emergencies, be ready to have to do something fast, like insta-rezzing someone who dies because they stood in the fire.
5) FRIENDLINESS. At the very least, take 2 seconds to say "hi", "sup", "yo", or "hey" at the start of the dungeon, and "thanks", "gj", etc at the end. Even if you wiped three times on the first boss.
You don't need to play healer or tank to get a lot of commendations.
1) Be helpful. Don't hate the new guy. Ask if people wanna run new content blind.
2) If you're a BRD and there's a magic DPS in the party (or your healers DPS a lot) PLAY FOES. I will insta-commend BRDs for this unless they are total jerks otherwise because it's a huge damage boost and it's FREE. Plus in dungeons you regen MP really quickly between pulls so it can be up almost all the time.
3) Do good DPS. If things die REALLY fast, people will almost always notice. Don't even need a parser.
4) Be polite and relaxed. If you're a tank you don't need to do a speed run to get max commendations.
There's more but following these I get showered with comms =D
The comm system has been successful. I have to question if everyone remembers dungeons before comms... They were complete rage fests on almost every occasion.
Now: It's common for everyone to at least say hello at the start and GG at the end.
Most of the time it's a quick smash thru for the finish line but errors are generally laughed off or simply adjusted.
If a joke is cracked someone will generally participate or comment.
Rarely do we still encounter the problems we had previously.
My comm goes to the person who provided the most entertainment. Not the best or highest performance. I look for that person who gave me a smile, laugh or a little extra fun. I very often will comm the biggest full retard derp I see simply because I got a massive chuckle out of it.
Enjoy the game!
I am getting more commendations in Wolves Den than in normal dungeons because when you are top in the list (Damage Dealer as example) you will be recognized.
In Fact when the golden mount was released many player who gotten it within some days traded them.
It does not only work with Wolves Den but still works with Dungeons or any other Content.
The Group of 4 need to join simultaniously (solo) the same dungeon.
It is a low frequently dungeon choosen, so you can be sure not many "outsiders" will join.
In early days it worked very well, because no one have done Wolves Den and you mostly gotten your friends into the dungeon, thats also how those win trades were working.
