Please make hunts like leves/treasure maps!

You know, when they announced hunts and even after the few days of doing hunts I actually was supporting this idea.

However, even if it is really crowded and even if I missed out on several hunts I arrived at on time I honestly think the hunts should stay exactly how they are now. The only thing they could do is add a little more HP to the A- and S-marks.

Reasons?

1) There is finally something to do outdoor! There is finally a reason to run around, try to spot a mark, work together covering multiple areas and/or maps.

2) There is finally a way to not put your head in the sand (as in only use Duty Finder or your Free Company for content). Since the introduction of hunting I met lots of people on our server, got in touch with the bigger Free Companies and had some fun conversations.

Edit: What SE could do is make the elite hunt quest always an S-mark, which works as a leve, but only can be done once a week. Other than that the general hunts should simply stay as open world content as they are now.

Keyword: "HUNT".Period.

It would be awful if they make hunts like levequests, they are the only real open world content which we currently have.
Limiting them would destroy the whole fun and would be a huge step back.

Its worse enough that content like ct2 or Coil has lockouts

i feel too many player of FF11 did loose of sight that this open world content is not fun, nor fair, nor is actually playing.
they are there saying FATE are not open world content, when it is open world content! they are stuff happening in the world where everybody can join not only a small bunch of elistist!

i'm sure some even wish the claim system to be back! serious SE, stop listen to them! they don't want open world content they want FF11-2! what bother them it's that actually they can't have power over the open world content, since FATE is indicate and everybody know where it is.

actually FF14 have tons of open world content, we do have some escort, boss battle, gathering type,.... but the trouble is the reward are shit... let's be honest the GC seal have little to no utility, it's not put the respect of the chocobo at 48.000 seal that will change this nor even the token for the venture. why put an outdated system into the game when we do have all we need already!

FATE with boss and pack of monster to kill.... all was needed it's to make some for level 50 only that will have offer a true challenge.
you add leves and faction leves for special boss that can be killed in daily and weekly for the people that don't like to run around and you had a perfect system that will have please everybody.


about all the other talk about the fact that hunt make people talk with other... that true if you count insult and trashtalk as communication. that trouble wasn't the game or the system present, but that people didn't want to communicate with other. there, they do it because it serve them goal to get sand/oil. because alone or with them small group of friend is not possible.

People are only doing it because it breaks the game. If "open world content" just gave a title it sure as hell wouldn't be like this.

Further more how many people would bother doing them if the sands/time rewards was removed from the Allied seals upgrade path.

1. Go to Hunt Board
2. Grab the Bills (They will have an Area directed by a circle on your mini-map)
3. Go to dedicated area
4. Pop the bill.
5. Instance for you and your party only

People clamored for Open World content that wasn't FATES (let's ignore the fact that hunts are fates without map markers) and wanted less instanced things and now that we do have it, people want it instanced. Turning the Hunts into levequests is giving us treasure maps with a new name. Aside from that, OP is correct in that Hunts are too small for the playerbase. Open World NMs by nature will never be all inclusive, they are meant to be competitive and not everyone will be able to have some cake. This is made even more apparent with the emergence of the Horde that spawned on each server that is essentially gaming the system.

Based on the 2.3 trailer, I had imagined that hunts were going to be similar to XII's hunt system, where attaining the Hunt Bill would cause the mark to spawn in the given zone or it would flip a switch that would cause the NM to spawn somewhere in the zone should you complete certain conditions. If someone was in the area while you were fighting the mark, they'd be able to help to get some credit by helping to kill it, but not max credit because they didn't have the bill or weren't in your party.

put NM with the population of the server and the size of the area are stupid, sorry but that true... it's simple, see every large zerg falling on small rank B monster.
yesterday i did get a rank A, we was around 50-60 person on it, and people was still arriving in large bus.

NM are not adapted for this!
and sorry but competition into a mmorpg is... well i prefer say nothing. all i see is the free Hunt is way too important in the system. if it was me it will be only 10% of the system, here it's about 90% of it.
i will have use leves, fates already there and even a hunt log special. that you must complet every week, with monster from dungeon or rare pop from leves.
i will have still add the Rank S type monster, because i feel they are indeed welcome, but i will have not put soo much reward from them!

and one more time: FATE are open world content, they have simply give another name for all the type of open world content!

It works like that in FFXII or FFXIII (and it was a fun content) so I don't understand either why they didn't implement it that way.

Yeah that's the main issue here, the size of the world is simply to small when you compare it to the amount of players on a given server. NM would have been fine in a bigger world where it takes more time to go from point A to point B.

Totally agree, and stop wasting player time when lots people only have 1-2 hrs a day to play

what is bothering with the hunt like this, it's you can't decide when you play with your friend, since you wait for the spawn.
if it was by leves type system, it will be possible to play whenever you want with your friend or other!

We already have leves and maps that works this way, why create another shape of the same thing? Hunts as they are now create diversity, thus game cater to more people than just "solo/party gamers in open world".

You know, you can hunt with friend? And it's not that it is mandatory activity, or you can't take a breaks from it.
I hunt with friends for 3 hours, then go to coil with my static, then do some dungeon runs and crafting. And I am already at 4 sands and succubus. Just don't be so addicted to it and know how to say "stop" and take a break from camping.

Those who pulls usually just teleport away as soon as mob dies, so people that bicker just do it for their liking only.

No. It doesn't work fine because those who don't cheat are cheated out of this content. I don't have a Radar so the only one I've gotten to in time (only partial since no one would invite me) because I was near when it popped.


And no, it's not instanced. It's still open world. Leves and Treasure Maps are open world content.

Radar doesn't allow you to teleport faster.
You always late because you are solo, you got information too slow and most probably you were not in hurry to get to mark. This has nothing to do with radar app.
Of those 20-30-50 man trains that rush to a newly found mark at most 1-2 parties have a person who found mark (and it doesn't always via radar app), the guilt of rest is only that they can get such information in less than 10 second and then teleport to destination in less than 2 second.

No, lets not. Lets point this out too. This isn't new Open World content. Its FATES made more annoying where cheaters prosper.

No TY.. lol. SE will not change hunts over a few posts.. And i say a few because they have over 2 million players.. lol. Hunts are meant to be 100% open world. If you dont like the content there are many other things you can do. I do agree that they semi-need to be fixed:
1) Raise HP of mobs again.(So that they are not killed in 2 seconds)
2) Prioritize the hunt mobs so that ppl can actually see them.
3) maybe.. just maybe make them invincible for like a min or 2 so ppl can get there( That would only be in effect for A and S ranks) even though S doesn't need it lol.

And dont limit Allied Seals.. Just raise the price of that book lol

Considering they got added over afew posts on the message board I disagree. And between the rampant cheating and the fact that a large FC can corner the market(thanks to that cheating) I don't think they are going to keep it this way.

People have gone nuts with the current system. We can't even do treasure maps without being harassed because we pulled a mob without inviting or waiting. It seems that many people don't know the difference between NMs and treasure mobs. We actually got yelled at last night over a novus map mob because we didn't invite a guy to our party. Because of the current system it is very hard to get anything else done. Every time you start working on something, you have to stop because someone spotted naul.. So yeah, please give us a way to control when we do hunts, and who we do them with.
For example: Pick up the leve, then you have 1 hour to figure out which zone, find the nm, and kill it. No red/green circles. It could be any zone... This would make your group work together to cover all the zones. Make the rewards for success worth it.

All this would do it make it a gigantic cluster when the mob actually becomes "live". Next we'll see the bots with the claiming feature like in XI (if we don't have it already).

Also, I really don't get the mentality that people have to wait for others to make the pull. I've heard far too many stories where people wait, and then they don't end up getting full credit. No one is owed anything, it's just tough luck that you weren't the one to stumble upon the mob.

FWIW, I don't do hunts at all as I think the current system is too jacked up to be fun. I love the idea of somehow mixing this in with the leve sytem, but I doubt there will be major changes.

On the other hand, hunts are creating a lot of hostility between players, so perhaps they will do something to fix the big issues. I can't imagine SE would want to be known for its ridiculous playerbase. I do blame the players for how things have turned, not SE. Sure, they could have implemented hunts in a different fashion, but that doesn't absolve the players of any personal responsibility for turning into entitled, cheating, whiny babies. :3

Turns out if you get a boss fate and hide the tether radius and location from the map you can trick people into thinking they're not doing the same thing.

I dont cheat and I've gotten 3 sands and 2 oils to flesh out the gear on my "main alt" (I play all the classes), DoW chest and arm maelstrom gear, and DoM chest piece. Furthermore I have enough seals to get 2 more sands atm plus another log i got as a lucky drop on an A. I am not cheated out of the content. Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal.

First off, it's not evidence, it's an opinion so by nature is anecdotal. Your statement is also anecdotal so I don't know if you don't cheat and there's no proof one way or another. You can be telling the truth or you could not. But even so, the idea that you can do it therefore it's fine is a fallacy. Furthermore there are several ways you can get more information by being well connected. I stick to my FC for my own personal reasons so I'm not well connected on my server. I'm at a disadvantage for that. I'm also disadvantaged because I don't cheat. This makes me feel like the content is unfair and the threads popping up all over this forum about this system should send you a clear message that other people are unhappy with this content.

Pretty much how I was thinking when they announced them. There could have been party play for the higher ranked Marks too, but I could see what they were thinking - it was really just implemented poorly. I am glad that the community as a whole agrees that the system needs work and is actively providing ideas on how to approach the problem.

Rank Bs spawn every half hour, A every 4 hours or so, and S somewhere around 1-3 days. There's plenty of room to join in the competition, especially if you pick the right time of day.

Please consider that different people like different content. You already have treasure maps and leves; let us have this content the way it is.

While I enjoy the competitive nature of Hunts/NMs, it's not exactly the same to think that treasure maps and leves are the same value. If it were flipped, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't care in the slightest if maps and leves (which in this situation are not instanced) became instanced.

The Hunt/NM feature is absolutely beautiful, and was also the same degree of awesome that FFXI had with them. It gives the player an awesome sense of wanting to be in the game world. The problem is just how it isolates the player base and, because of how players are, becomes a toxic activity full of threats and immaturity. Maybe they won't change it because they're betting on it getting better when the next Coil raid is released, but if so, that's a horrible business approach with something that the consumers actually want. You can keep consumers restricted from content for a little while, but you don't want it to last for a predicted 3 months, which could lead to 4 months depending (a 33% increased wait time). I'm assuming Yoshi-P is not THAT out of his mind... /shrug

What do you think if the Hunt Boards were to be expanded and performed similar to the Field Manuel from FFXI? Players could simply choose from a list of Marks to hunt. The conditions would not have to change but perhaps the length of respawn rates could be reduced so to be repeated multiple times. This I can see players forming parties, collecting the same Marks and hunting for them, no triggered items. At least I think this would seperate players from going after the same ones.

one more time, i don't see the....competition into the hunt, since people do it in large bunch zerging a poor monster.
all i see is nostalgia and ego... people wanting to braggs they are the best to... be the first to kill a rare monster for...*shrugs* i don't even see the point behind this.

here we are saying this is not adapted to the game, it's hurting it. we are saying that we had already boss monster in open world content, called FATE boss. worst, the actual NM is FATE without the UI behind it and people argue, FATE are not open world content, hunt are open world content... when all they have done... is take out the UI.

all of this because of the bragging right to say, i have get the prey that the other didn't get!

however, with the population of the server, the size of the world, this sort of content is clearly not adapted. FATE work because everybody can enter it, and everybody know where it is. no monopolize from the big FC or some elitist LS.
more important like i did said before... you spend 90% of your time, while doing hunt, to not play the game! you are simply waiting for play to the game!

just like this, the dude that spend 2-3 hours per day to play, if he is not at the right period, he can never seen a rank S or A. brillant, no?

they should make them hard and let one group / alliance claim. then the rest of the poeple are S.O.L.
let the monsters rage if its taking too long too kill.

all we have is a stupid 1 mob fate for hunts right now, i been able to solo all the ones i came in contact with with no problems.

To be honest, I had more fun with the Alexandrite maps than the hunt, at least I can see what are the monsters' mechanic/spell/skills.

The Malboro that binds you and then uses a bad breath attack?
The bomb that goes large and will explode if you do enough damage when he's large?
The fight where lots of little bombs spawn and they just stares at you for a period of time before charging at you?

The hunt? I don't even know what did the monsters do and they're dead already.
The S ranks are okay, but the A and B ranks are just pathetic.
