Runescape --> bazillion other ones that I tried like Ragnorak Online or Maplestory ---> WoW ---> SWTOR ---> WoW ---> Final Fantasy 14 ARR.
Might go back to WoW when WoD comes out but I wont quit ff14. But I love WoW to death so its hard not to play it too.
My first MMO was Myth War Online, spent a lot of time grinding there. After it went to 2.0 I have been searching a for a game that I would like. Pirate King Online, Redstone Online, LotRO for a week or so, WoW for a bit, a couple of other free games which titles I forgot, then gave up on online games for a long while until I read about FFXIV:ARR. Been playing since PS3 beta started.
T4C since 1999.
DAOC
Wow
And now FFXIV
Ragnarok Online > other smaller MMO, don't remember which > WoW > FFXIV
I think I know what he/she mean , some people think thats all the rpg games are MMO idk why , some guys argued with me that all games even in general are MMO since a lot of ppl play it , But I disagree strongly b/c MMO is any game that made to be played online only .
EQ from Launch, then FFXI and EQ2, then WoW, then FFXI, now FFXIV!
So a lot of background for me. Years of play for several games. I honestly haven't been hooked to a new MMO in a LONG time like I am here.
($0)Started with ragnarok online (I'll take the novus grind over MVP or regular mob card hunting ANY day)
($0)Gunbound(eh it was ok)
($0)Warcraft III (love rts games playing against other players)
($100)Star legends (iOS mmo ._.)
($500)Aika online ( fell in love with PvP)
($200)League of legends ( I suck but I still buy rare skins sometimes)
($0)Monster hunters ( same as gw2)
($200)Elsword ( forced to play it)
($300)Guild wars 2 (love the mechanics but no end game)
($200)Xbox 360 phase (GTA V online)
($60-70)FFXIV arr (kitties and rping ftw!)
The price is how much I spent on that game so that I play/compete. That's not counting how much the game is or the console or computer used to run it
Conclusion: for me, subscription> f2p. I'm saving a lot more actually ._.
Not sure i remember all of them but here goes:
9 dragons
Runescape
Swtor
WOW
Everquest 2
GW 1 & 2
Runes of magic
Perfect world (malaysian version till shut down then restarted in the international version)
Silkroad online
Tera online
Aion
And now this game.
2006 > Still playing: FFXI
2013 > Still playing: FFXIV
I just can't get myself to drop MMOs, so I am doing my damn best to not try new ones, or I may just give up at real life. I've already given up on playing single-player games... well, pretty much any other videogame... for these two titles. Since I joined my first MMO, my other videogames buying rate has dropped to one/two per year.
I did love the Wild Arms series on PS/PS2 though, and if a WA MMO was to ever come out, I would probably jump from XIV to play it (not from XI, because between XI and XIV I actually enjoy XI more as of now). Hopefully though XIV seems to be going in the right direction to give me what I love of the Wild Arms games.
Horses: Check.
Guns: Erm.... *looks at Musketeer's thread*
in no particular order
ffxi
Wow
swtor
secret world
city of heroes
eve online
rift
GW2
Compared to others this game has really intricate story that they want the players to experience. Classes are a little simple, but in exchange for no talent trees or customization you get one super specialized task you need to master. It has some of the easiest entry level content but some of the most challenging endgame experiences I've seen in a while, with very little in between. It also has a community that makes League of legends seem like a tea party. Might have something to do with the difficulty curve looking more like a difficulty cliff and casual people expecting stuff to be easier, might have something do with the pseudo anonymous cross server group matching that removes all social pressure to not be an asshole. Greatest challenge in this game thus far has been finding 7 other people that I don't want to murder in the face and can count past ten without taking off their shoes. Game itself though? pretty good.
Almost everything from Dark Age of Camelot until present. I did not played like all mmos, but the most interesting ones: Daoc, FFXI, WoW, LineAge series, Aion, Warhammer, Age of Conan, Warhammer, etc.
Atm i play Wildstar, closed ESO acc and im back to FFXIV
Ragnarok Online (First MMO)
FlyFF (2nd MMO)
Fesita (3rd MMO)

XIV 1.0 is my 1st MMO foray, being a late bloomer I am. Got it for a bargain bin, but I love it despite other ppl says. Only got to play like 9-10 months before final save.
Along the way, XI was introduced by ls mates. Finally bought & install it, and I quickly grew fond of it. Breezing through all story content till up to Adoulin before I was forced to decide spending my time with XIV 2.0, which sadly ends with me stopping XI... for now. Still hoping to return to that beautiful Vana'diel again.
That's pretty much it.
It's funny how al
A lot of us have similar mmos in our history not counting ffxiv.
Heck I bet a few number of us grew up together without even knowing it lol
Everquest for 6 months
Asheron's Call for 3 years
Final Fantasy XI for a year
CIty of Heroes for a year
Back to Final Fantasy XI for another year
WoW from a few months before BC to Cata
The Old Republic for about 3 months
Final Fantasy XIV: ARR since release.
Scatter some different F2P MMOs at different points that aren't worth mentioning.
Everquest 1
Final Fantasy XI
Everquest 2
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
Final Fantasy XIV 1.0
Final Fantasy XIV: ARR
/nostalgia thinking of EQ1. That game was awesome at the time.
Been playing MMO for 10 years since 2004. I got a long history:
The list, most are played out of curiosity and boredom (Most doesn't last more than a year). There are more but either forgot or didn't play long enough to remember :
- RYL*
- Ragnarok Online*
- Rose Online*
- Gunbound!
- Maple Story!
- Pirate King Online*
- RAN Online*
- Runescape!
- Dragonica*#
- Emil Chronicle Online#
- Rappelz!
- Dragon Nest*
- SMT : Imagine#
- Phantasy Star Online 2*
- (NOW) FFXIV
* = Game is enjoyable but quitted because no one to play with. Dragonica being the game where I developed my character the most but sadly the game shutdown and my guild disbanded out of conflict. I would replay all these but too bad no more time dedicated for other games plus most were already stopped development.
! = Quitted out of ridiculous trolls, bad community, etc. Rappelz(SEA server) being one of my notable act of criticizing the GM of his biased act to the point my name is shouted server wide. I quitted the game before that.
# = Due to server shutdown, Emil Chronicle Online was one of my most played game, its like RO except 3D and more towards casual and anime-ish themes. Played for a year+ but the server got shutdown due to stupid Gravity's so-called 3 years contract on a game. I lost everything I gained including a huge sum of fortune.
That pretty much sums up my mmo history.
DOFUS between 2005 and 2013, met my girlfriend here. 5 Years together, been living together for 3. Shout out to the community manager, Izmar!
Runescape
LOTRO
Tibia
Tales of Pirates
Tera
*Universe implodes due to the amount of MMOs he has played in the last 12/13 years*
Long history few games.
Ultima Online
FFXI
FFXIV
All have been played for a great length of time, quit one them moved to the next on the list.
I can't even remember every game I've played, or in any order, but here are the ones I played for any significant amount of time:
-Everquest
-World of Warcraft
-Perfect World International
-Runes of Magic
-City of Heroes
-Champions Online
-DC Universe Online
-Star Wars: The Old Republic
-Mabinogi
World of Warcraft (Constantly from Vanilla launch all the way to WotLK, on and off during Cata and MoP, quit the game now) Guild Wars (for a little bit ages ago), FFXIV 1.0 (didn't actually properly play it... I tried it on my brother's account, he's the one that got me to try the beta of 2.0 and I'm so glad he did :P) SWTOR (for about 3 months when it launched), Guild Wars 2 (Still play on occasion, but rarely), TESO (Tried the beta and hated it).
That's pretty much it :)
I mostly play old school kids MMO...
Pirates of the Caribbean Online
Fusionfall
Toontowns
Combat Arms
Elsword
FFXIV:ARR
Eh {iris online fiesta online PWO Dragon quest X Dragon Ball Online PSU PSO2 Monster Hunter FF13 online DC Universe Online DWO WOW } lots of other free crap :P lol
Those of you who have played DOFUS for any time let me know what servers you played on. Would love to find some people I know from Zatoïshwan or the forums.
First MMO: Westwood's Earth and Beyond. Was a great space MMO that pre-dated EVE and had awesome music from Frank Klepacki, the dude who made all the C&C music. EA being asses shut it down for Sims Online even though it was doing well.
After I join FFXI, then WoW. Those two I played the most.
I did dabble in Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, Terra, and Planetside 2 but none of them were played for that long. Also played FFXIV 1.0. though quit after two months due to the terrible UI lag and school.
Well let's see....in no particular order, just how I remember them:
Everquest for 1 month
Acheron's Call for a month
Anarchy Online for, hrm, 6 years? I was Regidoc on Atlantean
Abandoned the average RPG scene for a bit and tried Second Life for a year or 2.
DC Unverse Online for 2 years
TERA for 2 months
EVE Online for a month....I found it boring....
Champions Online for a month
World of Warcraft with friends from work for a year
The Secret World for 2 months
Age of Conan for 2 months
FF14 since February of this year (with the steam sale)
Of course, I still have active accounts in TERA, Secret World, Age of Conan and DCUO simply because they're F2P models now so my account never dies. But I can only manage working on 1 MMO at a time and currently FF14 has all my attention.
Never touched an MMORPG before A Realm Reborn.
Ragnarok Online, Everquest, and Runescape I played for roughly 6 to 12 months each.
Phantasy Star Online for about 2 years.
Spent a solid 6 years on Final Fantasy XI. And about 2 years off and on with WoW.
Had minor stints in other games like The Old Republic, Tera, DnD Online, and likely a few others I am forgetting.
FFXI & FFXIV
FFXI from 2004-present (a few failed attempts at quitting)
WoW off and on for years
1.0 from launch until a week later
ARR from launch until January
I'll give whoever guesses my last MMO a cookie. It should be glaringly obvious.
I was on one of the very first servers (forgot the name) but got hacked with the allopass scandal around lv150 when it was meaning something ;( I wasn't on Zatoïshwan though.
When I see games like that in MMO experience, I kind of see why he/she said that.
MMO =/= multiplayer online.
no matter how hard you try, you'll never match with more than 9 people in LOL. MH isn't even a multiplayer game, it's a solo game with a few multiplayer options. Same for Warcraft III :/
To consider a multiplayer online game as a MMO, the general consensus is "more than 256 players at the same time in the same place playing". For me, MOBAs aren't MMOs. Nor are FPS online. Becuse no matter how hard you try, there are only a few people you can play with at a time
FFxiv 2.X.
Can I haz a cookie ? :3
I leveled a DC Universe Online character to 20....thats it. This is the only MMO ive played outside of that. Didn't know a lot of the basic shiznits of mmos so i read up a lot. Got good with blm(first class/job). Got a little better with it, then went in depth with every class through hard modes/coil/extremes so I could see the battle from diff perspectives after reading up on rotations. Now Im server first on T9 with mnk being my primary.
