Overall I agree but....
for the Zenith that would place it cheaper than legs/bp which IMO it shouldn't be (since weapon is single largest upgrade you can get) so 900 seems right to me. Also that is 3 days of doing your dailies which isn't bad.
Atma I don't think the # is the problem but the method. I'm fine with RNG but I feel the way it is introduced for the atma is flawed.
1. We already feel insulted with the tedious task of doing things like LEVEL 4 FATES. Make it a rare spawn level 50 FATE in each zone that has say a 20% drop rate and I'd be much happier personally.
2. The tedium causes many people to not even try just because they go out their 1st try and spend 4 hours spamming level 4 fates and see 0 progress.
The myth for the books/alex are really the only things that I just hate. If we were getting myth at the same rate we were getting philo sure. But we aren't. Doing 5000 dungeons runs (or taking so long with dailies that by the time you get the animus/novus 3 more steps have been added) is a problem. I'm suffering through it. But id sell my kidney to actually have a EPIC quest (like EQ or FFXI). Where I felt I was DOING something instead of just farming ilvl 50 dungeons until my eyes bleed.
I'm working on novus for my white mage and I'm about to start my first book on my summoner.
The only thing I really agree with in this post is that the books are too much. The rest is fine
I have finished my Animus for white mage, and done two melds for Novus. I personally believe that 800 Myth for ONE map/Alexandrite is ridiculous. I also began my scholar Animus and completed the first book last night. Because of this, I won't be spending a single Myth on maps I have scholar Animus in hand.
Secondary stats have a very small benefit on a point for point basis (except maybe piety for WHM and crit for SCH & BRD) . Whether you are willing to drop millions to get those last few points in the "best" stat instead of getting a few more points in another stat which is decent (but not quite as good) is entirely up to you. It's nice that they at least made it a choice instead of requiring a bunch of Tier IV with no alternative.
The only thing I remotely agree on is that the Atma drop rates are too low and should be raised. Otherwise, everything else is fine.
Novus takes less time to complete than getting the Animus and the Animus doesn't take that long, just takes some dedication. Don't be lazy.
This is not accurate.
You just need 11 Tier 4 materia for 1 stat, minimum. More if you start failing to attach the materia after 96% and below (which is after your first 6 100% attachments).
It's not as bad as some people are making it seem. These are relics and it's not meant to be something you can just blaze through and get (though.. some people have no-lifed it already and completed the Novus).
Me? I'm 25/75 with 2 maps in my inventory that'll I'll do tomorrow and a bit over 1k myth to get another map. It really isn't that difficult. I've just been doing it casually working on it while doing the dailies I already do every day. (2-3hrs on workdays, more on my days off)
Much of the problem lies in the RNG. If I could reliably get a second set of Atma in another 'reasonable' amount of time or earn those Grade IV's via Spirit Bonding in a similar timeframe or graft them on with a consistent success rate or find those FATE's luckily soon after I've arrived... that would be something.
But the fact alone doing Atma over could take me (hyperbole) between 5 & 100 hours... is enough to kill my interest altogether.
I won't argue against that, but I think it would have been better if we had to fill up some kind of exp bar as we did fates for animus instead of praying to the RNG gods. Right now some people will get their atma in 4 hours while others don't get it for 20 hours. To me that seems pretty lopsided and needs more consistency.
The length of them is fine if we weren't doing the same thing all the way through. We grind FATEs so we can grind myths so we can grind FATEs and myths. FUN!
Actually Im just waiting for 2.3 patch to see if there would be any changes on the Relic quest timeline as well
I agree. I'm on the atma part now and it's driving me nuts already. I've been at it for a week and I only have 2 atmas so far. The developers need to realize that a lot of us have jobs, families, and are college students so we can't spend hours just sitting on our butts ignoring our real life responsibilities all for a chance...A CHANCE...at maybe getting one atma if we're lucky. I read that Yoshi P even said he doesn't like that aspect of the game so I really hope it gets improved. With all the upgrades and a new class coming soon it really feels overwhelming. This is one aspect of the game that can possibly make me quit. I love this game so much but if it just gets more and more grindy I won't be left with any choice but to quit because as much as I love games, my life and my child have to come first.
I think the Atma portion should've been nerfed at the Novus launch.
With the workload as it is, being two portions behind is insane.
This way too, it'll make for earning a set for your subclass more tolerable & provide fair compensation/incentive for those who already have their first Novus.
Nerfing two stages back each cycle sounds about right as well.
Are you considering players with multiple level 50 jobs when ya say that? Think about it. Part of what really sells this game to people is versatility. If you're forming a party with people in your FC and they need you to be a tank, healer, or dps the option is there and a whole lot of players use that option. So that's just something to think about. Maybe for one lvl 50 job it doesn't seem all that bad but what about more than one or all? Personally it doesn't sound appealing at all to me. Games are supposed to be fun and yes challenging too but it seems like the difference between challenge and repetitive grinding has been very blurred.
Make the ATMA hunt so that you need it ONCE as a prerequisite and then you can upgrade all your Relicts.
Make the rare FATES go away from the Novus books and replace them with any FATE or a certain number of FATES
Then I would maybe go for a 2nd one. Nothing against time consuming tasks. But fighting against RNG and waiting for hours just isn't a funny way to spend my sparetime.
Nah, it's fine as it is. According to achievment it took me about 620 fates to get 12 Atmas, then do the 9 books will take me like 3 weeks. At least I'll have something to do. I rather work on my relic, then just stand in Mor Dhona and watch /shout.
Atma grind was brutal to me. I spent 43 hours trying to get the Atma of the Water Bearer before I gave up on the questline. I would rather do second coil every hour of the week with terrible groups than farm atmas.
This makes no sense... the entire Relic Chain is meant to continually expand & the weapon to grow in ilvl throughout the game's life-cycle.
Novus isn't like a consolation prize with how insane the materia demand is. Sure, you can try to SB all those Grade IV's yourself, but you're still praying to the RNG gods as usual.
Or you can also hope to the RNG gods that the melds go through... just the fact the melds can fail period, that's ludicrous to me.
Nobody likes having a 500k value material go *POOF* for good with a 96% chance of success.
I personally think the atma part of the quest line should just be completely removed because to my knowledge it doesn't even upgrade your weapon. The stats stay exactly as are for zenith. It's just a prerequisite for animus which is now completely pointless since it can now be upgraded to novus.
Initially when I heard about atma coming from fates, I assumed it would have been atmas dropping from specific big fates. Like atma of the crab dropping from the Cancer fight or go, go, gogimera dropping the ram or something like that. Can't really solo it, but it seems more appropriate than what we currently have.
This comic made my day haha! I agree the ATMA portion of the quest could have been implemented a bit better (i'm not a huge fan of RNG based grinds- but then again we are playing an MMO). But for the most part I've enjoyed the rest of the quest (no I didn't enjoy brayflox SR but they weren't THAT bad).
Currently sitting at 16/75 for my novus. I think the biggest thing people forget is that the relic weapon is only 1 option. I have not intentions of ever completing a second relic (mostly because I have crap luck and don't want to spend another 50-100+ hours farming fates). Currently my offspec is 2 tokens away from getting my i100 soldiery weapon. Unless you're completing coil there is really no 'need' for an i100 weapon. The i95 weapons from Levi are more than enough to get you through all the content in the game if you are a skilled player. If you haven't beaten Titan EX yet (no worries their nerfing the requirements in the next patch) then your primal weapons (or zenith relic) is more than sufficient for all contents you are currently trying to beat.
I'm tired of the entitled everybody wins mentality people have lately. You see it starting as early as youth sports where kids now get a "trophy for participation". I say...to hell with that. There are winners and losers in everything we do. Get used to it.
I've stopped doing animus weapon b/c its just stupid to do 9 books and each book will cost 1500myth and each book will ask you to do so many things even doing low lvl dungeons >w< . also, its boring to do brayflox(hard) which is the fastest way to finish it :\ so i'm not sure if i can resub in few days if this boring grind will continue with 2.3
Fact: Relic Questline is a dealbreaker for many, causing plenty of people a lack of enjoyment, aggravation, lack of motivation, lost interest, or to unsub entirely.
"You don't have to do it, you know!", yes we know, but there are many who love the idea of having epic, exclusive, & long-standing weaponry; others who are completionists; others who like grinds for the most part; others who appreciate long-term goals despite disliking aspects of them; and so on...
Personally, I think obtaining a weapon of legend in an MMO where your weapon is your power should be exciting, and the fact is: it simply isn't exciting for so many people, and that's sad to me.
So regardless of people's reasons for completing the Relic Questline, I urge SE to strongly take into account how vastly unenjoyable it is for a massive portion of its population & alter or reevaluate the processes somehow.
Not that they 'have' to cater to us, but my impression is games are there to enjoy & have fun.
Above all: perhaps if there were more exciting open-world content for groups or if FATE's were made more interesting as a whole or better myth-grind alternatives, that would be one thing...
But there is not, so this' a plea to SE to look inwardly with regards to this system & try to infuse more 'fun' into it as a whole.
With myth amounts being increased across the board with 2.3, the myth requirements don't seem quite so unreasonable IMO. As for fewer atma required, that goes against the lore of the ZODIAC BRAVES seeing as how the zodiac in this game also has 12 signs like ours irl. So you can't really go changing that. Increase the drop rate, maybe.
I plan on taking 3 relics through to Novus. I understand not everyone has the time/inclination to do this. Lucky for you there are other weapon options. They DO want players to reconcile themselves with maybe only getting 1 or 2 (or 3) maxed relics. They're supposed to be speshul.
I agree, if anything it's time to ease up on Atma.
This, I came into General and just seen OP has several posts just complaining about content and "suggesting" it be scaled down or nerfed in some sense. Nobody is forcing anyone to play any content. Don't enjoy it? Try some of the other content.
You really want the weapon? Why ruin the work and achievement everyone else put in? Also, 50 alexandrites just wouldn't work for 75 stats.
Atma drop rate is fine, it seems only very few people complain about it compared to the amount of relic weapons I see gone to Atma and beyond.
What I do agree with is the pre-purchase of books though. Changing costs? Not so much, wouldn't argue with it but I think it's fine as is.
Honestly with the other weapon options, relic just seems like an epic waste of time to me so I don't bother. With that being said, can we get a tad more creative than more shiny? They are the best weapons "finally", till 2.4 but then they wont be shit again. Would love to not be blinded by non BIS gear.
I think we need a thread about how cooking isn't interactive enough. I want a chance for hot oil to splash on my face. Get on the thread Parz3val.
I'm on my final book,
Currently I have liked the effort I needed to upgrade the weapon I use on my primary job.
I feel like I am rewarded for my efforts and if it was easier I wouldn't feel like it was worth it.
I feel that relic weapons were never intended to be something everybody would have. It would trivialize the point of making non-relic weapons, because everybody would just use their relic.
This is why I think it makes sense the way that it is currently.
Or real life splinters when using CRP? Or spatter when metal crafting?
Oh! Oh! I know! How about explosions that kill us when mining because we hit a gaseous pocket? Or some activist groups telling us we are killing animals when we go logging on our BTN? So much wasted potential. Step up your game SE!
Im getting to the point where i just dont care anymore. Yea i can have det on a smn book, but idc the HA will work just fine. Same with every other weapon(outside of ones that already have awesome stats like the HA spear for drg). Id rather just farm t9 and then when 2.4 drop get the ones i dont have from t9, go to shiva for weaps(ofc skip getting the other weaps from t9 at this point if shiva alternative is better), then get new tome weap for ninja (will be my main), then work towards last turn of coil.
If something changes with schedule and i cant coil with static, then id just get tome weap when available and call it a day. Just me though. Farming light is just boring xD
Agreed im doing it anyways, almost done with nexus....but if the next primal focus weapon is ilvl 120-130, I might stop this relic.....really I don't like how much time it takes at all.
