Today i throw away all the atma

I don't mind some farming if my new weapon won't be obsolete in 1-2 year.
but now,I just got my Animus, then Yoshi give me another myth/FATE nightmare,
it's even worse (require more than 60000 myth or 5x-6x more FATEs than ATMA), but gear obsolete soooo fast in ARR.

this game has no good memories, only gear treadmill nightmare

Honestly I would like to hear this as well. I feel this is SE's attempt at giving the hardcore people with tons of playtime something to do, but as one of them myself and speaking for half my guild who is in the same boat they are way way way way off the mark. We as hardcore players and players of EQ and XI despise the current relic weapon quest.


The grind would be fine but the rewards are not worth the time required for investment. The 2nd issue is the majority of it is solo based which is also bad for any endgame content. And last of all the weapons are subpar even after requiring all that grinding. I feel SE is doing really well for the casual content in this game for that section of the players base they are the ones obviously enjoying the game the most, but they are at the level of epic fail for the hardcore base.

The problem is they are limiting themselves with how they do gear. They are bound by only primary stats, nothing unique. And the Ilvl trap which has ruined every mmo that implemented it.

For the hardcores..

The I110 weapon from 2nd coil is easier to obtain and only marginally weaker.... and honestly you can beat turn 9 with I100 weapons so you do not even need I 110 weapons.

So the novus weapon on the day it was released was already negated by better and easier to obtain weapons in game.

So what is the point of putting in all that work for a weapon that is weaker or only marginally better then weapon which are easier to obtain.

This is what SE does not understand with their development.. Hardcore or even Oldschool mmos players who loved the grind will not do it if it is pointless in the end. Relics in XI took the average person 2-3yrs to get... they only did that because they were the best weapon in the game until abysea (which is why alot of endgame left). If they would of been negated in 9months they would of not bothered at all with it. Work is only worth it if it is long term reward. Which means longer then a year.

The novus weapon will be entree level gear in Patch 2.4. So why the hell should we spend all this time on it when we can get something almost as good with 1/4th the work now or we can wait 6 months and buy a crafter weapon that is equal in strength or kill a pathetic primal which will drop I115 weapons? Seriously why would anyone do this? That is the problem with XIV's endgame development. Same thing with the new dungeons I will bet my character they only drop Ilvl 70 stuff and the same myth and sold as blayflox... IF I am right why would anyone want to do them over something that gives equal rewards with less effort?

SE is doing the carrot on a stick but the carrot is a toy and they forgot the string. So people are getting the fake carrot and getting pissed it is made of plastic.

Can you guys feel the edge.

It's pretty sharp.

You can do Novus scroll without a single FATE or Myth grind, if you so desire. Just something to think about.

Novus is simple. You don't even have to grind.

Accept quest
Do expert roulette
Do map
infuse materia

It's just something extra to do each day. If you do all the roulettes each day then every 2 days you can do an extra for 800 myth. Again, no grind. Just doing simple tasks each day.

You CAN grind alexandrite if you want but you aren't forced to. The prize for doing this simple daily task for 75 or less days is an awesome 110 weapon that beats the pants off the solidery 110.

Only if you don't want to do the daily expert roulette or (with 2.3) the Hunt content.

Don't complain about the grinding ways to get Alexandrite if there at the same times are also non-grinding ways to get it.

I don't mind the atma grind, but the way it was implemented lacked any sort creativity and it seems like the only reason we have atma weapons to begin with is to go back to low level zones to help low level players with FATEs. It implies that SE knows the FATE system isn't so great and doesn't scale the way it should. They could have done so many other things to encourage endgame players to help low level players, but they chose to do it in an annoying way. What's that? You collected all 12? Good..now go grind out FATEs again because after running Brayflox 100 times you'll want to take a break with some FATEs. But seriously...they could introduce a mentor system, give bonus seals or tomes for endgmae players helping low level players, gil bonus, maybe even a special currency that can be used to purchase glamor. The roulette system was a really nice step forward, but the atma and nova kind of quests took two steps back.

Now...if the FATEs we were required to grind were new level 50 FATEs that weren't a snooze-fest, then I wouldn't have a problem with that at all. In fact, I would gladly go out of my way to get more atma weapons.

In the Novus quest you do also help players who do expert dungeons the first time.

It seems the most people who complain are sprinters who didn't expect a marathon and are now out of breath (burning themselve out with Brayflox myth speedruns instead to get them in a moderate speed with just daily roulettes).

Looks like SE hired a new group of white knights to watch the forums.

No, I think it's mostly people like me and the OP still stuck on the atma part of the relic. Why are they making Novus even easier in the next patch by adding hunts that give alexandrite? Why not add a new way to get atma instead so maybe you could close the gap between people's progress instead of widening it?

Because you would work on it on the sideway if you already do the expert roulettes instead of doing expert roulettes only for the Alexandrite.
If you would do already expert roulettes, you get it automatic without changing your daily routine for it.

Regardless, you still have to grind all of those maps and the materia.

The maps take a little more than 2 min so far, at least for me. As to the materia prices it may be best for people to wait until they come down a bit if they're worried about the cost, which they probably will. In the meantime just gather your Alexandrites. I know the Savage Aim 1s on my server were 5k+ yesterday, and today they were around 2k each so I picked up a few. Economies can fluctuate so it's probably best to wait for temporary drops in prices, or better yet permanent ones.

Atma is a RNG grind
Animus is a progression grind
Novus is only a grind if you want it to be one (you can finish it in around 70 days without specially grinding for it)

atmas are a waste of inventory

Exactly, the weapon almost screams to be done at one's own pace, there is no invisible force pushing anyone to go do it faster and faster in fact i'd say it's the opposite.

OP is entirely justified to despise FATEs and think they are boring. They are. Especially the lower level ones. Not to mention the problems with scaling, etc. FATEs suck. I think many of us agree on that point. (Even if we enjoyed farming Atma.)

What I find a tad ridiculous is starting a thread with a post and a pic that comes off very much as a glorified temper-tantrum. "I don't like FATE so I throw my Atma on the ground!" Toddlers usually learn to stop throwing food off their plates before they reach two.

The OP could have made a statement of their dislike of FATEs and the whole Atma leg of the Relic path in a better way. Instead, it was worded in a way that seems deliberately intended to provoke people into disagreement, opposition, and plain old taunting.

It makes OP's point less easy to get behind or sympathize with.

Behavior like this isn't what is going to suddenly inspire SE to "nerf" Atma drops.
