I can't wait!
What about the Primal-Pokemon feature?
Are the devs working on it already?Quote:
GE: Ummm… what can you tell us about the new summon system?
Yoshida: [Laughs] As you know there are primals – powerful demigods- in FFXIV. Summons are a staple to any Final Fantasy game, but to me, in recent games the summons have been cheapened because they are so easy to access. The current Ifrit and Garuda battles are hard, but I don’t want a world where everyone has summoned, and is walking around with, their own personal Ifrit. It cheapens how hard it was to get access to that primal. In 2.0 there will only be one of each primal per world. So one Ifrit, maybe one Shiva maybe one Ramuh, per world. These primals will be somewhere in the open world, roaming, and players will need to find them and then get together to defeat the primals. If they win and are the first to defeat it, the primal will come under their (temporary) control. For a 2-week period, the free company or linkshell who defeated the primal will have time to raise up the primals’ “gauge”. If they get it sufficiently raised, they will get to choose when and where to summon the primal for help. It could be used in any battle, and once they use it, the weather in the whole world will change so everyone in the world will know that the group used the primal. Once they summon the primal, it will of course return to the open world.
GE: Will there be a way to know the status of each primal?
Yoshida: No. Currently, we don’t want to show that. We want players to talk among themselves about the primals and their status.
GE: How does the primal gauge get raised?
Yoshida: Other than “raising its gauge” we can’t say any more right now. But what we can tell you is that it will be very community related. The capturing group is going to have to do certain things to raise the gauge.
GE: We take that that if you don’t raise the gauge within that two weeks the primal is released?
Yoshida: Exactly. Also, its not necessarily two weeks. That’s what we have now, but it could change. It will be a set period of time.
The alliance thing was mentioned in a live letter to be pushed back to i want to say 2.3x or later. The OP isn't the most recent announced info for that. I want it too!
I think that's gonna be released after the main story ends. Since it's building up to Zodiak's return maybe he'll affect the aether flow in the world to where the primals will be able to roam free without being summoned. Similar to how HNM and besieged worked in ffxi.
Maybe like a three day period a random primal spawns in a random area there is a server-wide message saying <primal name> has awakened. And you would have to amass a very large group just to take the primal down.
But that's just my opinion.
Eh dunno, GW2 lets you join a max of 5 guilds simultaneously, though you can only "stand" with one of them and can only see the chat of the guild you're representing, but I still found it pretty useful to be part of different communities, yet there was no content that required having more than one guild.
A multi-FC system here would be a bit less useful due to linkshells, but I'd still welcome it.
Not really being sarcastic, they have different teams working on different things, and to me it just seems like each patch there would be a little something from each if they were putting it out as soon as it was ready, but I think there is a bit of content they hold back and release with similar stuff so that it has a bigger impact, and looks like they are doing more.
Yes Please
Isn't this the same feature they've been talking about for release in 3.1? Where you can venture with other FCs on these islands? Or is that something else?
I still want the mentor system, and the gambit system but haven't heard anything about those either...
What about the open world primal system?
The add ons
The access to balconies...
And much more...
Honestly I didn't even know this was a 'plan', but I'm interested.
Still holding out hope for this. Maybe in 6.0?
Might as well keep it together.
On topic though, I'm surprised this didn't become a thing. I and several friends have our own semi-private FCs with like..6-8 members. We each have our own FC houses and more or less function independently, but we do often gather together.
Such a system would allow members to do things/chat/etc together, but also allow for groups to break apart without it looking like a nightmare divorce.
..alternatively, a "Super FC" with the top leadership having access to their own vault/house and a more general house/vault setup for regular members. It just adds a lot of options.
I didn't even know this was planned to be a thing!
crazy
Would have been nice to have, like how in GW2 you can sign up for 5 guilds but can only represent one of them.
It'll never happen.
Free company alliances were tied to a plan that revolved around actual free company content and was aimed at building free companies up into end game groups..
But without any content designed for free companies the concept of alliances becomes useless. As in the current state of the game an fc is basically nothing more than a chat channel..
They had lots of cool ideas even letting free companies summon primal as a kind of special limit break but yeah the whole thing got scrapped and the focus shifted to ultra solo friendly instead.
I would be inclined to agree if it served an actual purpose. In this case though it's little more than a troll doing the rounds purposely dragging up ancient and buried topics just to necro them. Like, your own post marks the last contribution to this before it was necroed above.. and that was almost 6 years ago.
I actually like this idea.
Course you could only alliance with FC's that are in the same GC alliance.
Would also serve as an excuse to finish the GC content, in this time of war.
Indeed, the only FC based adventuring content, diadem, has been scrapped and repurposed.
Don't mean it won't show up again, I'm hopeful. ... and hope is a horrible pain.
Probably went to the same place where open world dungeons and combat that rewards effort and creativity, both which were brought up in the past, went.
The abyss.
Yes please! :)
I'm okay that this was never implemented, because they instead focused on other more useful things: Cross world linkshells, data center world travel, the fellowships (although those are not really well utilized), the pre-formed full 24 man raids someone complained about on the 2nd page, cross world party finder, friend list estate teleportation.... and so forth. I'm already in an "alliance" of sorts with 3-4 other FCs, and we just added everyone to each other's friends list and hang out in the front yard of the biggest of the FCs on event nights.
But this way each FC can sort of be managed its own way, although one of the running gags is threatening to kidnap the members of other FCs :)
