Ahem.. so.. because YOUR FC hasn't beaten it yet, they should go with the 20% Echo buff.. but you don't NEED it.. *but you still haven't beat it yet.
Confusing much? Two things here:
1- Lots of people got it done without ECHO, never been told it would be a thing someday, they swallowed the pill, and voila.
2- If your FC is having difficulty with the 15% Buff.. I would suggest to gear up, or ask LS friends that made it to help you, giving you tips about some phases.. perhaps watching a vid since you already viewed it once..
I agree it's very nice to feel like you completed all what the game has to offer.. we are almost done ourselves. From what you are saying, Second Coil is just around the corner for you.. don't give up: go at it, over and over, everyone will learn the mechanics and adapt.. to the point the ECHO buff won't be needed, and you will even think it was silly in the first place to have it.
Best Wishes on your completion.
But we did beat it. See my earlier thread post here. Im not sure how you got that interpretation from what i was saying either. It's pretty simple, I was saying it would have been nice to have an extra 5% but i was being positive and saying i was sure we didn't need it to succeede. And we didn't! Hooray! However, it may have given us just a bit more breathing room is all. By no means do i expect SE to cater to my FC specifically either.
I mean, sure, I could dig this hole with a bigger shovel but the medium one i have now will do just fine...just might take a bit more effort.
Buff or no buff the win still felt good. Some part of me wishes we could have been one of the groups to down her before the echo....it is what it is.
I myself am curious about the delay in the echo buff. I don't need it, but I'd like to be able to help out some friends and ls mates that haven't beaten the content yet.
Pft, 20%? ... now we are on 15% and most Instances are more challenging than Coil1-5 anymore...
honestly, I am no friend of Echo...
Don't think it's needed. Even in turn 5, if you're wiping, it's almost certainly due to not understanding or obeying the mechanics (dive bomb, twister, conflag, dreadknight, etc). Any party that is wiping right now that can't get it down wouldn't really be helped by the echo, because DPS requirements/healing are not the problem.
More HP/healing will not save you from twister, dive bomb will likely just wreck everyone (have to hit twice still), conflag will still just kill the person inside, etc.
The damage increase might help on conflags/dreadknights/snakes, but if you STILL are not meeting the DPS checks that exist on these even after all this echo, again, you either aren't playing properly or not understanding the mechanics; more echo won't help.
For those of you wondering, the 20% echo along with fantasia, and the continuation of the relic quest will be implemented in patch 2.28 which we won't get until sometime past May 24th as that is when the live letter will take place. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...a727489f63a43c
If you scroll down, one of the topics is patch 2.28. As live letters always discuss future content, piece it together.
Based on people that checked coil after patch, I think we can safely assume that we will not get 20% echo until 2.28.
The timeline shown in the 13th live letter was the then current plan, but we know already that plans for other things have changed since then, so I don't consider it a big deal.
Would be nice with confirmation, but I'm not going to throw a hissy fit over any lack of confirmation.
Then you could run the risk of crashing into a wall and instantly dying, not to mention it would be an extremely counterproductive strategy to bypass a mechanic that is already easy to get through.
Twisters are easy if you Focus Target Twintania. Like people said before me, the only thing that the Echo is doing in this fight is getting each phase over with faster, and no amount of it will make up for not knowing mechanics.
I also don't see why it's a bad thing to clear T5 in order to do T6. Coil follows a story, but above that, it's a difficulty ramp. T6 may feel easier to some people, but that's because they've gotten through T5 and it has provided them with a lot of experience and coordination. I think people purposely getting carried/buying runs in order to do the new turns (NOT in order to see the story. I don't really understand this one either because YouTube exists, but whatever) are doing harm to the community, because T6-T9 is going to punish them in a whole new way. I'm in no way saying that beating T5 magically makes you better, because I've met a lot of people with T5 gear and wonder how they even got as far as they have because they don't understand simple class concepts like properly rotating between defensive cooldowns (or maybe it's just laziness because "haha, I'm in a 4 person dungeon and I don't need to try", which I dislike), but doing T5 will definitely prepare you and give you an idea of the challenges ahead.
This was posted in the JP forum:

Basically they are holding off implementing more buffs since they see that a lot of people are beating coil with current 15% buff... Would be nice if they announced this as a topic and not embedded as a reply in the JP forum.
it's not the only thing it does, that's completely wrong. a high enough gear/echo boost will allow 1 or 2 DPS to kill dreadknights even if the others died to twisters. it also allows solo healing for Death Sentence so you can afford having a healer die to Twisters. it allows for people to be dead at divebombs and you still have enough DPS to kill the snakes before Aetheric Profusion.
That's true, but I feel like if the buff is working for you in that respect then the team as a whole was clearing the content anyway, or very close to it at least. The most significant change I've seen from the buff is increased HP and healing to keep tanks up through Death Sentence 100% of the time instead of 95% of the time or however often it was working out for us. Obviously doesn't keep my various teammates from eating divebombs or kiting snakes away though.
One of the Japanese reps said something about them halting the plans to increase the Echo every 2 weeks because they were pleased with how groups were currently progressing.
Greetings,
Since the introduction of the Echo bonus to the Binding Coil of Bahamut, the development team has been looking at the number of times players have been challenging it as well as the number of parties that are clearing the content each day.
We originally announced that every two weeks we would be increasing the Echo bonus; however, looking at the current rate of clears and the balance of the rewards being obtained, we’ve decided to halt increasing the bonus further.
The team will continue to look at the conditions day to day as we move forward and consider increasing the bonus further if it is deemed necessary.
Not exactly. It may allow one DPS to kill DKs, but think of how long the fight will last after that. Even Titan HM with one DPS lasts a considerate amount of time. The enrage timer would kick in and the group would wipe. An Echo so large that it could allow such a thing would basically turn the fight into a carry. Either way, if so many people die at divebombs or twister, then the players in the group need more practice. Echo should not be big enough to die without much repercussions and think that another team member will pick up the slack.
One word: AWESOME!
By the time I logged into the forums and had to do other things.. I didn't see that one: Congratulations! :D
I remember someone's Sig:Quote:
The issues we have and still need to tweak are mostly people not paying attention
Paying attention and dodging in games? Ain't nobody got time for that! ^^
not exactly except it was exactly what i said in the first place.Quote:

Pity, that 5% probably would have been a breaking point for us in getting past Coil 5, even with our previous levels of execution.
Very well. We'll keep trying with what we got. A lot of us are pushing higher ilvls anyways due to pushing Soldiery tomes. We'll just have to hope the practice pays off. We're already anticipating Coil 6 to be a brick wall for us.
Yes, but my group didn't get past coil 2 without using the enrage method before the Echo Buff hit 5%. Granted this is due in part to our late forming, but we've multiple issues with lag and breaking computers within our groups of friends that tend to be problematic going forward.
So unless the combat is on par with perhaps turn 1 or 4, we're likely to have some problems. I love my group, don't get me wrong. But we're slow to learn.
Recently I joined a Twin to help a friend, we had 6 DPS deaths in the Twisters/Dreadknight phase, I solo'ed a Dreadknight with help from LB, we still beat the enrage by 2-3 minutes.
The Echo buffs are far more effective than I thought they would be, combined with the higher item level gear, the insta kills are the only thing keeping Twintania a challenge now.

My group is very similar to yours, continuous computer problems, late forming, slow learning in some instances, and yea, t6 is a brick wall due to that on top of only gathering 1-2 nights a week lately and barely getting in 20-60 minutes worth of practice.
Personally I'm kinda annoyed with it, there's nothing else worth getting for my job so I'm sitting on Soldiery tomes since I don't really play the other jobs and I'm waiting for Thief and Ninja to come out. So I'm just sort of doing dailies to keep a minimum amount of gil coming in and gathering myth tomes to throw at crafting mats. Sucks being locked on improving your favorite job because you can't progress in Coil.
I must say, the official response does make sense.
Granted, I've yet to beat T5, but I haven't really been trying much either.
