Launcher black screen

me too I can't get inside !!! black screen error after launcher check

I'm on windows 7 , and everything worked fine till yesterday

My launcher on ps3 only partially loaded, also saying it could not connect to server. I retried again and it let me begin the update but nothing but the sign in area loaded on the screen.

I gave this a few hours after maintance was completed... why are we struggling with the client? I'm still getting a black screen after letting it go for an hour. /sulk

PS3 user here, i was just playing the game, it froze, tried to get back on, the log in screen was mostly black with a few options i tried to log in and got an error message

i know there is PSN maintence tonight but not right now. wtf happened

Same issue for me. I waited a couple hours after maintanance was finished and I'm getting the same black screen error on the launcher. I'm running Windows 8

See I thought I had issues on my end and uninstalled the game... now I get these errors when trying to re-install. At least my launcher updated?

Edit: Changed the eula stuff to 1 and now I'm stuck. I'm gonna hate today.

This is seriously ridiculous. From one problem to another. After 2.2, thousands of players couldnt play for more than mere minutes before being kicked out and pretty much locked out of the server for hours at a time, now they do another maintenance and BEHOLD more fucking problems. Figure your shit out SE or you'll be put on the back burner for a long time. Fucking idiots.

yea im getting this error code: 2146697211 followed by http://frontier.ffxiv.com/arr_win/in...=2014-04-24-14 after i hit ok it crashes

MichiAi thanx for that it just shows how much they dont give a dam, one would think after getin paid as much $$$ as they are congestion SHOULD NOT BE A DAM PROBLEM EVERY UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you guys have tried the clear cache / restart method and it's still not working- try running as administrator afterwards

I'm not a computer genius but when the error message actually mentions the latest patch (...2014-4-24-14), seems to me that may point to a problem with the patch.

Been trying for the past hour and still can't get on :/ I'm on PS3 and when I try to log in I can type everything in then it just stays as a black screen... ugh, so much for doing a few things before work.....

Joy, guess I get to go screw around in Guild Wars 2 while waiting for this to come up. I do want to get the dailies done so I can get closer to my 7th Atma book.

lol go figure, it worked once earlier when I played but I try to log back on and I get the error. This isn't anything to do with local settings so dont bother, this is a patch issue and the only fix is probably gonna be from square. so much for playing today. f**kers

I cant believe square enix cant seem to release patches, since day one, without causing other never ending issues :(( Can you as least have the decency to respond to this thread as to where we are with the fix to this issue?

If you open the client as admin and wait a bit it seems to load eventually, takes a couple minutes though.

None of that seems to help for me, nor has changing some config stuff. I'm just gonna reinstall the game and get back to you all in a day or 2. My internet is shit so downloading patches takes a long fucking time.

It obviously has nothing to do with the account launcher is being run undo. Judging by the fact that some players can get into the game it's an http resource access timeout issue. Either SE servers are being ddosed by evildoers or the denial of service is happening naturally due to a large number of people trying to upgrade (now with ps4 owners). Or both.

There's a notice related to this: Congestion Notice (Apr. 24)

I've gotten it as well, but I reloaded a couple times and finally got through. It's server-side.

It's probably down to congestion guys, I ran into the error message 8 or 9 times trying to log in just now and then eventually the launcher showed data entry boxes for ID and Password then a minute later the Log In button. You just have to keep restarting your clients and be patient, this shit happens and it's nothing to cry about. Good luck.

You can try this ^o^
1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.

Having a few classes in programming, I can tell you that this could easily not have been foreseen. All it takes is one single small error in the code, whether it's missing a bracket, a parenthesis, or using a colon instead of a semi-colon at the end, it's enough to cause many errors. Once my program kept giving completely wrong answers for the math problem I had coded into it. just keep trying, I also got this problem at first. If the screen is black just wait until that error message comes up, then close the launcher and retry. I left mine up with that blank screen and eventually it loaded. At first I see part of the screen and not the spaces to login but I decided to wait be patient, like 10mins later it loaded and I logged in! So not all is lost just keep trying.

There's a topic post about this... it's server congestion. I linked the topic earlier. There's nothing you can do but wait or keep trying.

I mean that explains the lag from it loading content but why would it give error messages within 3 seconds of loading the launcher and then force close itself?

Because the launcher loads things from the server at start (new topics, new "ads", etc.). If the server doesn't respond properly in a specific time-frame you get an error as the launcher continues to load.

restated ps4... nothing.
re-installed game... nothing.
deleted update... BINGO, i'm in =D the problem is the update itself not the game or "congestion"

for me the good old "ipconfig /flushdns" did the trick... maybe it works for you too.

Jokes aside all chances their sysadmins running like crazy right now. If that's not something stupid like a wrong line in some launcher config file pointing to dev or QA servers that cannot handle the load. >.<

This is if you assume that SE had the foresight to expect issues with the launcher load-ins and put a time-out counter for everything that downloads from the server in, and we've all experienced how much 'foresight' that SE has had with server load issues. My guess is there isn't a time-out counter for any of it, it requests something from the server, expects that it will arrive in a certain amount of time, doesn't get it but continues to try and go ahead and fails out. Yes, programming for networks 101 there... but we have a proven track-record already, don't we?

yeah seriously, I forgave them for the 2.0 launch issues but the fact we still continue to have server issues baffles me, I dont think I've ever seen an MMO with so much downtime before because of maintenance.

So is SE going to do or say anything or are they just going to blame it on "congestion"? Would really like to play a game I pay for or at the very least get a non random BS excuse as to what's happening. Would also be nice to even know what error -2146697205 means
