It needs to stay a duty finder I think because for the new people, that is probably the only way to get a group for it in a timely manner. If that was just kind of "there" for 30 myth tomes, NO ONE would run it lol

I don't run it any more even with the rewards :( The story mode dungeons are a mess from start to finish.
I'd personally would like to see Cape Westwind added to Story Roulette. Having a choice between Castrum and Praetorium reminds me of WoW's ZA/ZG grind in the day. *shivers* When I running low level routette, Primal battles are a Godsend for me...quick battle Cape Westwind is part of the main story, involves one of the 3 Tribuni, and would be a welcome respite from constant Prae/Cast choices. All the low level roulettes I've done, I haven't seen CW not once. I've seen that spawn of festering toejam called Aurum Vale countless times, but not Cape Westwind once. Add it to the Story Roulette, give us a tad bit more diversity.
I dislike Castrum Meridanium, as I find it rather boring. Praetorium has some fun boss fights though (Especially phase 2).
Anyway, removing Praetorium from the Duty Roulette, as much as it might sound nice for helping people watch cutscenes, would make finding a party to complete the main story kind of nightmarish simply due to queue times. Given that completing Meridanium & Praetorium is the chokepoint you have to pass to reach the wonderfully open land of ALL the other L50 content, I think that'd be unfair to people who are going through for the first time - far more than the occasional person irritated with cutscenes.
I can get behind adding Westwind to the Story Roulette, although I like its current place in Trials - you know there'd be people who'd troll to be kicked so they can roulette right over again until they get Westwind because it's so much faster.
How is this still relevant? brayfox speedruns provide 50 myth in 10 mins, require no queue if you have a party (which is simple to make), may provide equips which can be exchanged for seals or mats which could be sold or even used, as well as close to 100 gil per mob killed.
Just ask the party once you've entered - if 3 others want to skip CS...power through it, even while others are in CS. If not? Leave or wait.
We experienced abuse in CM and Prae while helping a FC mate who was finishing the story. We queued as 2 tanks and 2 healers and refused to proceed until our mate was out of the CS. We gave warning ahead of time and continued to be berrated by one particular player. Eventually we were able to kick the jerk and the rest of the run ended up being quite fun.
This... and hopefully they have learned their lesson in designing this stuff. The frequent and wordy cutscenes in Castrum/Prae have always interrupted the gameplay when a lot of stuff could have been done through in-battle dialog. Save the long scenes for the end of runs where people are free to leave.
The solution is a little check box next to "join in progress" that says "always skip cutscenes", which stops cutscenes from even loading.
People won't be complaining about watching scenes in the INN when they realize the unchecked wait time is 10 hours and the checked time is 5 minutes.
Would also help farm groups.
Do this.
Honestly, the story in the last dungeon is weak. I was set on watching all cutscenes as a healer, but since they start in the middle of the action, you kind of want to get back into the game quickly. Plus, the groups just continue anyway - and after watching the cutscenes (at the inn), I can see why.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but:
- You start in a highly fortified place, whack all the mobs a good one and turn of the alarm. No one suspects a thing.
- Suddenly, a huge robot drops in. Boss one starts, you destroy it. Cid comes in to help, even though he found it too risky at first.
- After destroying the generators to lower the shield (prompting virtually no action, even though huge sections of the fort blow up), you arrive at the final boss - the same who killed your friends with mere shots earlier in the story. She says "show me what you got", and is obliterated while everyone dances around her. The part where she says "I see..." as her suit explodes is almost comical.
I would like this, but that is because I do not want to run CM. That is the most horribly designed instance in any MMO I have ever played. Everytime it pops I cringle because I know I am in for 20-30 minutes of pure boredom.
