Translated - New info from JP game magazine Connect-On (Famitsu)

In fantasy fiction Bards are often a "disguise" for assassins and spies. In a lot of those examples their real profession was archery(cause it's how they killed people anonymously). So going with "fantasy", there sure is a reason why ARC could become a Bard with the job system.

This is not real life, so taking ideas from fantasy fiction makes sense. Why would a ARC change into a RNG, cause both are pretty much the exact same thing...

They should add a Jongleur(French entertainer) class, and with it release the Dancer and Bard jobs.

Also if anything, they could just add an assassin/rogue class and have that lead into Thief or Ninja. Give 'em a Kris and call it a day, says I.

a black\evil\drg would be cool too.

In the D&D lore black dragons have a huge relevance.

A dragoon with a black dragon's scale armor would be awesome.

Could this be the most insightful interview ever conducted since the launch of the game? I think it may be.

As for Jobs, One for One is fine for now, plenty to keep busy with. Remember that there are a ton of other Classes not yet available, each will have their own Job. On top of that there will be the possibility of a Class having two Jobs and two Classes involved in one Job. All very exciting!

The Archer and Bard link seems to come outta nowhere. My view is that Archer may become Ranger with an Offhand Dagger, Crossbows, Guns, Boomerangs and abilities such as Widescan.

It's too early to talk about this right now; so just the plan for now.
Once the information is set and allowed to be announced, I will post post on the battle system side.
Implementation of the job will be after adjustments to the class balance, so it will take some more time.

Buffer/CC as a class/job function of its own, guess that means RDM and/or BRD, at least for starters.

In his post he was talking about quests and stuff how right now they are trying to increase number of quests available since this game didn't any ANY to begin with and once enough amount is put into the game will start connecting the quests to the stories. I guess stuff we asked like having quest relate, give more information on history, or city, or current situation, etc.

Very excited to hear about Bard! I had been afraid the only Job I would remotely like would be Paladin (which I don't much like), but hearing that Bard is planned makes me very happy. I hope they announce fairly soon which class will unlock it. I don't want to level Archer up only to find out a new class will unlock Bard.

"Playing 2 hours a day and in about 3-4 month to capping 1 class" is the image.
And also there are days you go off track doing something else, days you only chat and finish, which also increases time needed to cap the level.

This is just talk at concept level but for growth part thinking if uncapping the rank at least once in 1-2 years. To expand even more, adding new class, jobs so please don't worry there.

What everyone is asking/worried about how are the end contents or growth process? This is a honest comment and to this we can only say "We will really try our best!"
Also with the new battle adjustments, adding contents fast (specially battle content) if looking at overall is bit rashness situation (reckless?)
For game's base structure, normally Battle (system) completed > then adding contents for battle, so the instance raid, or the ifrit battle is bit dangerous. (Saying adding raid dungeons or ifrit now when the battle system is not complete is dangerous, could hurt the game.)

What he means is the battle system isn't even complete so adding a feature like raid and stuff will work with the current changes but depending on how the battle system turns up in the end, they may have to change the raid/ifrit battle and he said in another post changing (downgrading) things in MMO isn't right. So probably related to that stuff, what if with finished battle system the raid/ifrit battle gets broken to a point too easy, and they have to fix, then players going to get mad saying they changed it! wahhh...

The problem is that there is no such thing as "base battle system". They are working on that as we speak. And the base battle system won't be complete in 1.18 either. Only parts of it, even if they are substantial parts. It's a risky move.

He already stated in an interview that it would be easier (for them) to prepare and release everything at once. But the community is stuck in the mindset that the developers aren't working on the game if we don't see the progress in the live servers too, so what can ya do.

I'm glad to Yoshi is deflecting people who are clamoring for content before the battle changes are finished, adding this stuff would definatly hurt the game and dev time of future changes if they don't get the base system down first.

I was abit harsh on Reinheart some topics ago, and if this information is
accurate (atleast from your translation) then i bow to you.

Some of the information given here feels like a relief to know, then i think i can safely say i'll
be sticking around abit longer with FFXIV after reading this.

Looking forward to the UI, Dunegons, Residence & new Jobs system.
