Any chance of not losing abilities when doing low level dungeons?

I can't believe there are people that are actually against what the OP is proposing. Yes, we should very much overpower the lower level dungeons. If I am taking my time out to help people, I have earned that right to use those abilities. The lower level dungeons are insanely boring. There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't have all of our abilities when going into these instances. The fact that level sync exists in its current state keeps me out of lower level dungeons.

I never get bored in low-level dungeons. Something I find enjoyable is figuring out how to maximize efficiency after such extreme down-synching. If you're only using 2 abilities, even as low as Sastasha, you're actually doing something horribly, horribly wrong.

I find it rewarding to help out new players and find new ways to speed up the process of utterly destroying low-level dungeons. I also think it's awesome to burst through the low-level dungeons in 20 minutes.

Sometimes I wonder if people should only get DFR bonus rewards if they are awarded by the players who are not in the duty due to DFR. I'm always half afraid of all these players running DFR low-level dungeons and doing the opposite of helping new players, basically, and then just reaping rewards.

Yeah of course a low level tank has problems keeping hate with missing skills. But it wouldn't make the live easier for new tanks, if other player had even more skills to use to make their live hard.

Nobody's complaining about being unable to play to their full potential with a limited skillset. They're complaining that it's boring, not that it's too hard.

I think that poster has a point. I regularly observe downsynched level 50 characters using awful rotations in low-level content, leading by bad example, not explaining mechanics, et cetera. Basically, if you're doing that, you're not really helping new players, and shouldn't be complaining about how the down-synching system works. I have no objection to abilities carrying through a down-synch if they're nerfed for that, but let's face it: That's so much work that it doesn't really warrant the time on behalf of the developers. And your motivation should be helping new players, not me-me-me. I'd rather the developers work on new endgame content than make things even easier for these people who aren't willing to adapt to low-level situations.

Also, if it's so easy, I wonder why so many people are inept at adapting...

It would be so nice to be able to use all my abilities in low level dungeons. I absolutely hated doing low level roulette on my lancer because it kept putting me in sastasha where the best combo is just a "Heavy Thrust" followed by "Impulse Drive" spam with a few offensive cross class abilities thrown in. Since I leveled dragoon almost entirely on low level roulette, I never had a chance to practice any rotation other than the sastasha impulse spam.

It is also silly that while leveling my white mage, if I get tossed into a low level dungeon the tank will often be the one stone-skinning the group.

The abilites are all based on potency anyway, so just by scaling stats down they will do less. A high level player will do more damage than a low level player, but the stuff is so easy anyway that it doesn't really make a difference. It just allows level synched players to use their full rotations instead of building bad habits.

I'll bite, and keep it short, because the following is quite universally true:

If you only use one ability in a dungeon, you're actually awful.

Less universally so, but there are no low-level dungeons until Haukke Manor story mode where you need to spam heals on the tanks to keep them alive, because they are handed sufficient gear and skills to not drop dead immediately. And by then you already have more of your bread and butter abilities to be less bored. :P

I'll bite, Moirear, and keep it short, because the following is quite universally true:

Healers only have only one or two buttons to heal their party in any of the pre-level 40 dungeons: Cure/Psychic and Esuna (if CNJ or WHM).

So your theorem about using only one skill == derp is invalid, because that's all they can do. DDing is not healing, so don't confuse your role. Sure, you can drop dots and stones or whatever, but that's not part of the healing mechanic.
And remember that Scholars don't get their area heal (which is lolworthy) much, much later than White Mages. So every dungeon is designed to be beateable with Cure/Psychic spam.
But things would be more fun if they had more skills, wouldn't it? They could spice things up a bit. Right now all they can do is "LOL Cure" and probably pretend to be a fake DD for a bit. BORING.

Eos solo healed for me up to Blayfox. I rarely had to use physik to heal unless the tank was under geared. This idea that more skills would make low level content easier is laughable when they are already a joke.

If you have a hard time with DPS in low level dungeons roll a tank. PLD gets shield oath at level 40, anything below that you have bugger all to get threat. WARs get Defiance at 30, it's hard work to get threat from over-enthusiastic DPS when you have two skills.

I would just like to take a quick moment to reiterate my original post: I don't feel the low level dungeons are too difficult. I enjoy helping low levels. I enjoy my high level abilities and think it would be fun to still have them in a scaled down version while doing this stuff.

Of course there are pros and cons to everything. Both sides have valid points. But its a little unfortunate that sides were taken. Honestly, I was not trying to start an argument and it seems I struck a nerve with some posters which was unintended.

The messed up thing I find is when I'm running a low instance on my Whm I don't have access to Stoneskin yet another class can have it as a cross-class ability and freely use it. The current system seems like it was written on the bag of a fag packet with little thought at all.

GW2 manages to pull this off well. The sad truth is that regardless of the excuses they give us for the decision it was probably easier for them to simply adjust our levels than to do all the math of scaling abilities down. More lazy programming with a bad excuse to cover for it.

Given you're way over-geared when doing low level stuff maximising DPS is hugely irrelevant to being able to clear it.

Because only your current class get level-synced. The cross-skill level sync nerf is the reduction of unlocked cross-skill slots.

BLMs don't get Aero unless they remove the soul stone and do low level dungeons as a Thaumaturge.

Where is everyone one gathering this implied "difficulty" from. No one said it was hard. I just want my skills, and have them scaled down. I'm not saying I need them powered at level 50, that would be pointless.

considering how pathetic raging strikes is in low level dungeons i dont see the problem this would pose.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but while you're at it, what were these OP skills you referring to and why are they OP at low levels and not high? Also what skills in XIV would you consider OP at low levels and why?
