First expansion pack and new race

Well Ishgard is only 1 of the new areas we will be given.

Don't forget 1st expansion content will be larger than a Major Update content and they will need more than 1 new area for 1st Expansion storyline considering the scale of Expansion storyline is made to be much larger than Major Update Main Storylines. We may see Sharlayan and Ala Mhigo as well in 1st expansion.

Sharlayan is currently the highest as the 2nd City-State introduced in 1st Expansion since 2.1 Main Story set up Sharlayan as a important Main Story point we will need to go investigate for vital information about the possible Antagonist in 1st Expansion the White Ascian since that is where the Circle of Knowing is located. There could be a new race there we have yet to see so right now I remain netrual on what the new race will be.

I would like to add some weight to my character. Still not sure why everyone has to be running around as a skinny model in all these games..

Dravanians (sp?) maybe?

There was one in the Coerthas portion of the story quests that masqueraded as an Inquisitor from Ishgard (but with facial hair as is expected of evil doubles). If the new race were to be Dravanians it would be pretty lame to run around as "evil twin" versions of the existing races. I would however like the opportunity to play a race that's canonically morally grey or viewed as the bad guy.

Adding weight to a solid character would be nice!

@OP - I really hope they add a lizard race...I would love to start out a new character on that race and see how the armor will look! It will be fantastic...the bunny's for all else too sure bring them too.

I have to side with the Japanese, who were more interested in mixed races in that now ancient poll. As much fun as viera would be, I'd like to see XIV have it's own Lilisette running around (look it up).

If they are thinking a dragon esque race I can almost guarantee it will be the Gria they are the most draconian looking of the final fantasy races.

Seriously i dont care if they dont have a "Back up" storyline for justify a New Race like Vieras, or a New "Cute" Elf Race. All i want is they make NEW RACES.

I played FFXI for almost 8 years. IM TIRED of the same characters, Galka, elvaan, taru and Mithra. ARR just copy pasted the existing races from FFXI that only show to me Laziness

i Feel they could put all the existing races and make 5 new races with the launch the ARR, giving to the players more options.

The storyline is important the first time you play the game.. But after of 6 months and 300 hours played, the storyline no longer matters, all you want is a Cool looking character for enjoy the game.

I said it in 1.0, I'll say it now.

I loved that game....and Domingo was pretty strong. Always had him in my groups.

I'm wishing for Viera to be added to the game. Also red mage. I'd definitely play a Viera red mage! :D

(And male Viera wouldn't be weird! They could be quite handsome!)

I'm all for more classes/jobs too....

But they don't have people creating new classes/jobs also spending their times making new races. They have different team members for that.

We've got Regular Human, Cat-Eared Human, Pointy-Eared Human, Steroid-Abusing Human, and Vertically Challenged Human. Oh, and that is doubled because they all have a slightly darker-themed version as well.

You know... I am sure this will not be the popular opinion; but I feel like the desire for a Vierra race could easily be satisified if they introduce more "femme" styling and armor for the already existing races. (Ahem, Miqo'te)

Maybe I am wrong; but I feel like what most people are looking for when they say they want the Vierra race is the hyper-femme styling that the Vierra are mostly associated with? (i.e. Long hair, always wearing "heels".)

Again, I could be wrong - but just a thought? I'm certainly not an expert in the Vierra race but I feel like when I think about who they are more superficially I think about their styling and appearance. I for one would not be opposed to more gender-specific gear designs but I know the pendulum has swung both ways within the community when that was a topic of discussion. (And I certainly wouldn't complain if they did introduce the Vierra into this world... for the record.)


I'd really like to see a totally new beastman race that is a little less humanoid. It would probably require a ton of new armor designs so I don't know how likely that is but I think it would create an interesting balance in Eorzea?

The main sex/race I see running around are female miqo'tes. We don't need another race that guys will pick just to look at their backside. I'd much rather get some sort of monster/beast tribe creature that doesn't even look human.

what race are the people in gridania? the child like ones with the horns, the leader of the CNJ's guild, the WHM NPCs and the leader of Gridania are all of a different race.. it could be that one?

I tend to avoid MMOs with ugly races in them. Even rift I's have played if it didn't have characters that look like that.
I really think we should let this be decided by Akihiko Yoshida and him alone.
