Thanks to the reactionaries who demanded an afk timer this is sadly off the table.
Open world dungeons would be great. I never understood why we can have ONLY one or the other?!
Ahh even with that Bazaars would be good to have.....and..... there are many ways round the afk timer, I know... I seen many a player been afk for well over 30+ mins.
Crap, even I have been afk for well over 1hr by accident as I thought I was going to auto log out but was still logged in after going to the movies lol.
Ahh yes the Kraken Club..... I remember and hated the RMT's in XI for that... but I think that SE could perhaps limit some of the RMT problem by putting a timer on it as such.... say you can't re-enter with X amount of hours once it has been logged as completed.
But yes I would love to see that back :D
Thank you for poiting that out, just as others have said already.
BUT
I am one of those people who won't believe it until I actually see it running (or confirmed in the release notes for each patch/update, etc. at least) Just a mention about it doesnt confirm anything in my opinion lol.
Sorry for the little rant, but I think that needed to be said.
Cheers :D
In fairness fates are pretty okay, but they do spawn a little to often IMO, and maybe, just maybe, they could slow down the fate repitition and implement some of the older NM spawns just like in XI, which may work pretty well. That would satisfy me quite well, as you would then not only mingle more player lvls in the open world in all areas, but also let new players see the wonder and style of the older players in thier higher lvl gear lol.
Hmmm an idea just came to mind lol....... maybe they could do the old style NM spawns in the opposite way to the current fate system... where you could only attack the NM if you are certain higher lvl and 'Sync UP' rather than down.... that way if you were below the required lvl you couldnt attack it..... Ooooo and that would in turn spread more players around all areas of Eorzea too, and if SE could make each area bigger somehow with say more Dangerous unexplored sections, then that would give us all more to expore, more places to fish, more places to farm, and maybe add some older style 'BCNM' in those areas................ Hmm I like that idea lol
I'm not really sure you can mention things that were in the Alpha or Beta, as they're still bound by NDA and could potentially lead to your account being deleted. Hence I'm not going to mention anything from the Alpha or Beta. One thing from 1.0 I would like to see back though, is an option to switch back to the 1.23 GUI art style (but with ARR's functionality) - I miss the old fashioned style fonts, window backgrounds and 1.0 icon artwork. ARR's GUI looks too futuristic and FFXIII-inspired sadly.
Ferry yes, as 1.0 had it accessible - unfortunately given the fact that the ferry can't even be ridden on now until you have your airship pass, it's irrelevant. As for airships, well considering how small they actually are, there would be little point to being able to 'explore' them in-flight. Also the journey would be so quick anyway you'd be there within a minute or two. And 1.0 airships were instant as well so that's nothing different. Personal (well, rather, FC-owned) airships are confirmed to be coming in the future so this might be on the cards after all I guess.
So here is a brief list of what we have so far..
(please look back at previous posts for more details on each one if you want to know more lol)
Some of these below have been mentioned by the Devs and the Producer, but are still a point of topic here for others to have their say or an addtional idea they would like to add to them.
(1) From XIV beta - Journal customization (some bits being implemented for 2.2)
(2) From XI - Chocobo Breeding (mentioned in development - but only mentioned) & maybe Choco Racing :D
(3) From XI - Gardening (as above)
(4) From XIV/XI - Ferry and Airship options... cut scene and choice to do long route... with Pirates, etc.
(5) From XI & XIV beta - Open world NM's with rare/unique drops in addition to current fate system.
(6) From XI - Personal Bazaar
(7) From XI - Robust Auto Translate with full JP input.
(8) Ability to have Minions & maybe even choco's in Dungeons
(9) Have the facility to do a Name Change (and allow blacklist & friend list to follow, etc.) (they are looking into this)
(10) From XIV 1.0 - More indeph Crafting - e.g. making boots piece by piece
(11) From XI - Explorable Dungeons with no time limit - not an instanced server
(12) From XI - Elemental Staffs & The Element Wheel
(13) From XI - Extremely hard to get drops just like the Kraken Club.
(14) Better and more complex Events where you can't just buy everything and/or do them in just 1/2or 3hrs
(15) From XI - Magic Scrolls & Sneek & Invis' - Good for Open Dungeons and the Excitment/Danger aspect.
(16) From XI - Some endgame activities like Sky & Sea, and other places like Nyzul Isle (all enjoyable fun lol)
(17) From XI - Unique Stat gear (actually dint know why they removed it myeslf lol)
(18) From XI/XIV 1.0 - Open World Dungeons
(19) From XI - BCNM's - but as a walk in and NOT in the Duty Finder - which should bring back more community gameplay
(20) More really Hard Fates - would also be nice to be rewarded with something more than just a minion lol
(21) New style fates added that DONT give xp, but just rare/ex gear (unique/untradable).
(22) A Solo + Choco only dungeon - which would be great for those quiet moments and for those who like to solo stuff :D
(23) The ability to trade with same account/between alts
(24) Being able to re-order the LS slots (I hate having to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to see the one I use the most)
(25) From XI - Bring Back Fame
(26) From XI - Beastmen attacks on towns
(27) From XI - Adventuring Fellows
(28) From XI - Furniture that gives you a bonus by using the FFXI version of Feng Shui
(29) From XI - A form of Signet
(30) From XIV 1.0 - Ability to wear 2 different earings and 2 different wristbands
(31) From XI/XIV 1.0 - Sub weapon you can throw - Basically Dual Wield :D
(32) HNM fate that DOESNT show up on the map - maybe until the mob is engaged that is.
(33) see GMs again in their red armor comming see us, instead treating us like a number and just sending a tell and saying bla bla and thinking we're happy to be a number
That's all of the ideas so far I believe...
So thank you all again to everyone who has contributed to the thread and to this list so far :D
Sorry cant mention you all here, but you know who you are :D
Keep them ideas coming please <thumbsup> lol
So see GMs again in their red armor comming see us, instead treating us like a number and just sending a tell and saying bla bla and thinking we're happy to be a number.
As for the airships/ferries.. they are just cut scenes and to just add the actual journey in between them should be okay, and as for the size of the airship.. they could just add a bigger one (say they run every few hours - game time that is - also for the ferries) so that people would turn up just for them which would make it more fun, etc. :D
And for the Personal Ferry/FC owned - they dont have to work the same way but idk lol
In saying that.... are they really necessary? idk really, that IMO is a waste of resources that could be better used.
That would be cool!
I'll add that to the list :D
Another vote for long ferry rides for us folks who like to fish on the open sea.
Yep, took it out in Phase 4/Open Beta/Release. I'm really sad about it.
Ugh, really? I'm glad to hear that it's still kind of an option, though I'm not a fan of changing my PS3's language settings. I'll give it a shot, but that's really inconvenient. A real option for players on English language settings would be far more preferable, especially when it used to be an option in Phase 3.
Merit Points, wider variety of viable endgame, a proper job system/more freedom with the armory system, I could go on...
Open World Dungeons and PvP like Ballista. Tired of everything being an Instance.
Adventuring fellows from FFXI for sure, with the ability to make the character like you can make your retainers. Or maybe tweak the system so you can bring along an alt on the same account instead (with nerfed/fixed stats of course). Chocobo companions are cool and all (love the bardings), but I'd much rather have an adventuring fellow akin to what we had in FFXI.
Also Notorious Monsters on the field that aren't tied to FATEs. I know there are some NM-like mobs out there (such as the huge morbol stropers near Haukke Manor in Sorrel Haven), but more please!
FFXI: A better story. FF has always been about story. But every side quest in FFXIV is so trivial my wife just skips the dialog.
FFXI: 6 man parties. So you can add a pure support class. Better yet add 2 support classes, Up the dungeon level and make 5 man parties/10 man parties.
FFXI: All Main city /yells 1 min cool down.
FFXIV 1.x: Tail armor
You are lucky, all these are confirmed to be coming.
Me, there aren't really things I'd lose to see from other MMOs as from other videogames in general. In particular, as you mentioned airships, I'd like them to be like the FFXII airships, where you could choose whether to insta-travel to the destination (like we do now on XIV), or to take a cruise (an instanced airship ride that lasted as long as you needed it to. You needed to click on your cabin and select "sleep to destination" to leave the instance).
Another thing from another videogame I'd love to see is the cameo gear rewards like in Wild Arms 5. In Wild Arms 5, you could encounter cameos of the protagonists of previous Wild Arms games. They'd give you quests, at the end of which they'd reward you with their own armor from the previous WA games. SE did this with Lightning, but I would've prefered if it wasn't a limited-time event. My other character won't make it in time to 45 before this event is over, and all I can do is hope they will make collaboration events again next year.
