This intrigues me! I found a few possibilities...

Archology - science of the origins of government Since many governments are built/founded out of war, I thought this might be viable, if not probable.
Polemology - the study of war Possible, but not probable since you are adding secrets, strategy, etc.

Anything else I found just didn't fit if it was close, like the study of weaponry.

The current tokens are not called Philosophy and Mythology. They're called "Allagan Tomestone of Philosophy" and "Allagan Tomestone of Mythology". If 戦記 is just a short name like how we use Philosophy and Mythology, then it's entirely possible that the full name will make perfect sense. Remember this is fiction, it doesn't have really have to make sense, it could just "be" and as we use it we get used to it. Like the names of different colors.

The way I interpret it (I'm not Japanese) they're taking the meaning of "Battle Story". So perhaps the English name could take on something along the lines of "Allagan Tomestones of Battle", or "Glory".

PS: with the AF2 I'm seriously thinking of making my female character my main now...and just keep the male one for collecting seaonsal stuff. ~_~ They all seem to look better on the female models.

Will anybody be switching their 'main' for AF2? You kinda got stuck with whatever you chose to spend mythology on, or else you just wasted a lot of time. You'll be able to pick something else with the new tomes.

The current ones are also called Allagan tomestones of .............. as well. They also said that Coil T1-5 is going to have the weekly lock out removed as well as be added to df and being able to select a specific turn. So I highly doubt these will ba used to purchase old coil gear. It will most likely be new sets of gear on par with the new drops from Coil T6-9. I'm just hoping it is af2 and not some random new sets of gear like DL but higher level.

I actually went with DRG after seeing the concept of the af2 and also because i loved the look of the af1, so I'll be sticking with it ^,^

It certainly looks like what a dragoon would wear, and considering that the previous set were shared the design with many classes, this could be the design for both melees and bard.

My guess is "Allagan Tomestone of War". In the live letter, while the english name was shown simply as "New Allagan Tomestones", the Japanese name showed "Allagan Tomestones", followed by, inside eastern quotation marks, the following: 「戦記」, which means "War chronicles". The old ones are called the exact same thing as in English, 哲学 for Philosophy and 神話 for mythology so unless they're breaking the pattern they won't go too crazy with the English translation of the new stones, either.

Yyyyyyyyyyah, more Monk Gear that I couldn't care less about... Who designs that stuff anyways?! Why do they think that monks should be / want to be wearing belly tops/halter tops/speedos/etc/etc... Thank christ for vanity slots...

Wasn't there some pre-Beta concept art of some armor we still haven't seen? I wouldn't rule out the possibility of that being the new tomestone gear, simply because it works to a pattern; Darklight > JSE1 > ??? > JSE2.

There are some similarities but it mostly based on Relm Arrowny.

AF2 design has a lot of additional things compared to the original armor design used by FF characters.

We will probably see Edward Armor set as a Scout AF2 Job set once we get that Scout class Yoshi-P wants to put into FF14 later.

My initial thought for that artwork you quoted reminded me more of BLM than WHM's gear. It made me cringe... BLM AF is not that flattering, honestly. XD

Good news is if that ugly cone hat gear is for WHM, vanity system will be out and I'll never have to ever....EVER...visually display such an ugly set.

Bard one....why do bards always have to look like they're wearing an assemble of tablecloths?

Anybody have an idea of how AF2 could be obtained? I don't mean through farming or quests etc, but more if it will be a possible upgrade of the AF+1 or we just need to trash that set once new one is out. I'd really like an upgrade system so that all those myth weren't wasted.

You can't buy allagan gear, with tomes of mythology.
You wont buy allagan gear, with tomes of ???
It will be for AF2, or something else, cause it wouldn't make sense to sell those too, for Myths, or it would make current myth gear, pointless.
