'Mog Bonanza'-style rewards worth a total reset?

well, it was to me.
with a grup of good friends and skype everything was OK to me, i mean, the only difference between other games and FFXIV is that FFXIV doesn't offer a great varity of ways to get to max lvl, but it took me just as long to get to the max as it did take me in FFXI :)
but at the same time i've played games where leveling was alot more linear and taking longer to get to max then FFXIV, so i'm just used to it.
all i got to know now is that at the point we get content worth doing, i won't need to go thru the leveling again.

[TL;DR] Just read the OP since I got no time for much more, but all I want to say is that I am in favor of a total whipe, with or without the rewards for existing players. This game needs it, the economy will never recover if it's left like it is right now for one thing but for all the stuff the OP mentionned as well.

The main thing is that we have all payed to play this game, despite the free months we are getting, we have spent all of this time working on developing our characters. To have it reset would mean that we pretty much wasted all of our time and money. The whole point in people playing this game right now is to have fun and to rank to 50 so that we can all be ready for higher level content.

EDIT: And using the economy as an excuse dictates that there is no other reason for a reset. The economy isn't even bad. The only thing going on is that shards and crystals are being sold for less. but everything else i dont think RMTs bother with.

How would a total reset help? I'd just bot my alch up and just sell shards constantly and im sure at least 75% of other people would do same, and then we'd be back to square one.

Yeah, never going to happen. If you're making this suggestion, arguing it is the only way to 'save' FFXIV, you probably haven't realized the consequences of your 'saving' kills FFXIV.

There's no good justification for wiping character data.

Total Reset?! Are you crazy?! I played 9 months just to see my player destroyed beacause the game had problems?! I'd quit if it will happen...

OP is mad cuz bad. Everything they are doing is good.

So...we have some players in favor (13 likes as of this post) and some strongly opposed...

Unfortunately, a large percentage of the responses consisted of this.

I figured this proposal would set off a bit of butthurt with some players, but my intention was to see if the general forum consensus would find a reset along with a reward system agreeable in any way.

I am obviously in favor of it if it means this game can be fixed without being shackled in any way to the old system. But I also understand that I may be in the minority on this.

Obviously SE would conduct a real poll on the matter before they even considered it, and as far as we know they aren't even close to considering it. So those of you who are seriously bent out of shape over the idea can rest easy. ;)

Nope, sorry. I plan on starting my character over when the game reaches a final launch-worthy state, so of course I wouldn't mind having some kind of massive bonus to start with... but personal greed aside, it isn't fair to the people who've been playing.

As Marcel Proust once said, "S-E shit the bed with FFXIV," and what was true in 1793 is just as true today. The game went retail, they're obligated to the people who bought it. So the broken economy left everyone who played with ludicrous amounts of gil and all crafts maxed, oh well that's just a fact.

FFXIV shouldn't have launched, but it did.

Actual reasoning: Even if they took a flame thrower and pick axe to the effort we have put in up to this point. It would solve nothing in the long term. We would be right back in the same exact place a couple months down the road. and to further up this on the Bad idea-O-meeter. You suggest handing out an item that gives enough sp to take a class to 50? Did you think that through at all?

No really think about it, you are proposing that every thing get set back to square zero to even out the Economy and put every thing back on the level, with every one getting a free r50 card? Exactly how many people do you think would be foolish enough to not dump ever bit of that sp into a doh?

Actually, I could see various other reasons why someone would want a reset, and ironically most of them do not have any negative tones attached to them. Just because someone wants the game to reset doesn't mean they are an idiot, or jealous.

The only way I would be okay with a reset is if the game fundamentally changed in such a way that a reset is required. To me, a lot of the issues with the game can be tweaked while keeping what currently is in the game in tact. Otherwise, I would like to think anyone who hard-earned their ranks, their gil & items, and most importantly their memories of playing will likely be angry and quit over losing all of that. :/

Yoshida-san already said that there wouldn't ever be a reset, so I don't expect to ever see one.
It wouldn't do any good to go back on his word. I would be curious to see the results if they did a poll asking if we'd accept a reset though.
I actually wouldn't mind losing everything and starting over when the game is in a better, more enjoyable state.
I don't care too much about resetting levels - it wouldn't benefit anyone, but I think it would do the game some good to get rid of all the gil in the game and start over fresh with leves and things fixed to not pay out massive amounts, and having some real gil sinks in the game.
