How has nobody called troll yet?
I mean really.

This seems to be the common argument from those that have played so many hours of the game at once. Whether it's spent in accomplishment of near all content or not. I don't know how anyone can play one game for so many hours in a day, everyday, and not get bored of seeing it. I know SE wants you to play their game, and enjoy it. But perhaps it is not meant to be played every waking hour you exist in life because as you see.. you get bored of it rather quickly.
It's not the player's PCs. its the servers. Those big pictures of epic lookin space battles? they actually move at a snail's pace because the server has to slow down to process it all.
This is a side effect of having a one-server game structure. most of the time it's fine, but when a big fight starts, its worse than odin and behemoth were before the patch.
vs posting here. Find something else. This game just got a patch... and it's 3 months till next one. Guess what. It's going to have close to the same amount of content. May a little more. So if your looking for a content driven game. Play something that has been out for 2 years. FFXIV ARR hasn't been out for 2 years. Don't kid yourself.
OP is that one kid at Disneyland who is "bored".
You have yet to clear The Bind Coil Of Bahamut content released @2.0, you have yet to clear Titan EX/Ifrit EX. Put that 15.2 mil to use and hire a static to atleast run you through some of the most dynamic fights this game has to offer yet? Maybe the money would be worth the cutscenes at the end, idk.
Ironically, if you did the extreme primals and say you're bored or "running out of content" those people generally say:
"Maybe you shouldn't have rushed through the game."
I mean, it's either/or folks lol, which is it? Either you don't do stuff and "can't claim to be bored" or you do content, beat it and get told you rushed and have no life.
I've read now your comments in the thread, OP.. and I agree with the masses. You just won't be happy in this game I am afraid. My only contribution to the suggestions being given to you, is maybe try and offer your help to those needing it. Help take new players through difficult content needed for progression. That for some, is one of the most rewarding and fun things to do.
No, if he had all that done, it still wouldn't be understandable.
If somebody complains there's not enough to do when they don't have everything at 50, it's their fault because they haven't even tried all the game has to offer.
If they've tried all the game has to offer and have all their classes at 50, it's their fault because they did it too fast.
Lol this thread again.
I'm seriously tired of these post being made by people who havent cleared all the content in the game. It's like sitting down for a meal taking two bites and complaining that you're still hungry. Finish your dinner then come talk to me. I've beaten just about everything game and I still have fun. Dailies, PVP, crafting, Treasure Hunting parties, working on achievements, I even rolled a new alt so I can have another lockout for Coils. There is plenty to do.
In todays MMO world if you are not happy with new content being put out every 3 months you are never going to be happy with one game.
I think the game is far from dull. I log in at least once a day and find something to do for an hour or two. There will never be enough story content because it takes a lot of time to write a good story and only a little time to read it.
Maybe it's more of quality of content vs quantity. Like there are plenty of crafting classes to play but they all feel the same. Get great strides, hq some levees, repeat. Then once you get them to 50, it's not really that profitable because crafting is so easy everyone has it leveled and you end up undercutting like crazy in an over saturated market.
Primals normal, hard, extreme, hyper, ex, etc
Come on now, it's unfair and stupid to say that you need to be 50 at everything to have the right to feel bored with the game. The problem with OP, however, is that he complains about not having anything to do, and then rejecting any suggestions or feedback.
-I am bored, I got nothing to do.
-Extreme primals?
-Recycled content. Nah.
-Hard mode dungeons?
-lol, rehashes and they drop low level gear. Nah.
-But you could run them for fun.
-Nah.
-Crystal tower?
-Loot lockout? Nah.
-Beast dailies?
-Not really content. Nah.
It's pretty obvious that he will continue to be bored, since not only he's rejecting every suggestion, he also hasn't suggested anything himself.
Yes, OP it is getting old.
There are no choices to be made. Do everything but the same as before.
Level one class, level the next 6 in the exact same way.
Gear one class, gear the next 7 in the exact same way.
Farm the game.
"Go do Titan in extreme mode"
Seriously? Do I unlock a Lara Croft underwear set? Oh wait, that was 20 years ago.
- For the benefit of SE and not the white knight forum warriors, the game is new. You need time to polish it and make content. I will be back and I will defend it when I am out on the world wide web looking for something to play but for now I am bored senseless and I can't justify the sub.
I'll bite.
Here is what I think about the game up to 2.1:
1) I still dislike FATEs but I dealt with 4 of them so I can get CT access.
2) Crystal Tower is loads of fun even if I don't get loot for myself, I will gladly run it more with friends so they get their loot ( and I'll still get tomestones.
3) 2.0 Main Story is epic, 2.1 Main story left me hanging for more ( but I know bigger things are to come in 2.2)
4) I love the Beast Tribe Quests, yes I understand they repeat themselves ( so is any MMO you play nothing really changes you have to keep doing X content to get what you want).
5) My most favorite part about this game is the Treasure hunting, and they are always in a different spot and a good variety of fights too, some fights give you items worth 64k ( Potash X8)-500k/1mil (bluebird minion).
6) Extreme Mode fights ( rehashed as some people call it), however I call it the hardest a primal can get fights. I believe Yoshi-P said that Extreme will be the highest a Primal can go and each new Primal added will have Hard and Extreme modes all in the same patch.
7) Housing- I dislike the fact that it's content nobody is really doing atm due to the plot prices being overly priced, however, I know that the prices will decrease and be at the 125 mil (or lower) for the best plot of land available ( in 8 weeks).
I still haven't attempt Coil but once I get ilvl80 gear I shall progress to that tier. Overall, I am very pleased with this game and I can't wait for 2.2 to come.
PS: The game isn't dull, "Anything is what you make it out to be"
TL;DR for my entire post below: I agree with the OP that the game is dull.
Anyone who doesn't care to read the below post can now proceed to the next one ;)
I really hate these styles of responses.
I'm a fairly casual player and I've not done I'm sure even a fraction of the things in the game.. but I'm pretty bored out of my mind. I actually left the game for two months and returned just before Christmas, but nothing's really changed. I'm still pretty darn bored and searching really hard to find things to peak my interest.
And because the game is boring, as a result I don't have any motivation to DO any of that content people are suggesting, or work toward them rather.
I have found some lights in the tunnel as it were, such as the treasure hunts which I find amusing, but the limitations on that play system leave much to be desired (though I can understand why they are in place). I haven't tried PVP but to be quite honest PVP is not an aspect of MMOs that I've ever enjoyed, so it's not really my cup of tea to try it in the first place.
The economy is another downer. If I want money, I have to spend much of my time in-game farming for materials to sell on the Market Boards only to be undercut by impatient people who don't understand how to work an economy, so making money is difficult. Having to spend the majority of my play time trying to keep myself financially above water isn't exactly "fun", meanwhile the market is flooded with gilbuyers and gilsellers -- which I find hilarious since if we were given more viable methods of making money, gilsellers and gilbuyers would probably in and of themselves fizzle out of existence, as people could make their own darn way in the game.
I'm getting away from the point mind you, that's another rant for another time I suppose.
And because I'm somewhat casual, I can't blame my boredom on playing too many hours at once. I work 40 hours a week, I volunteer regularly, I don't really have time to NOT have a life.
Look: I loved 1.0 (mostly 1.23 obviously), and I loved FFXI... but FFXIV 2.0/2.1 is not sitting well with me. I don't know what those key differences really are, I can't put my finger on them, but the fact is I was happy in 1.23, and I am anything but in 2.1. People can say "It is what you make of it" or "Try all the content" all you like, but I didn't really have to worry about either of those things prior. I -liked- the game, prior. So what has changed? *shrugs*
It's almost as though a particular balance has shifted... I find some things that were previously challenging are now far too easy (all you have to do is sneeze and you'll be handed your basic AF gear) and other things which were previously fun to include friends on now force you to go it alone (not needing or even being able to take someone's help into a zoned personal battle is unfortunate). And while added cooperative feats have been added, they just don't have the same luster I suppose as needing to really struggle just to complete a basic piece of content.
Everyone wants "End Game NOW", and there's just something about that which doesn't appeal to me. It almost makes the game dull in and of itself. I miss legit leveling rather than chasing FATES that last about 45 seconds in Coerthas, and the comraederie that came from challenging interim level content (even if that challenge was only based on time and nothing else, depending on which game and which stage of the game you compare).
Point is, I re-subscribed for a month but I don't see anything keeping me here another month after that.
We'll see. I've not given up all together...
But I will say that I agree: The game is dull.
Ok, since a lot of people are making a big deal about him not completed all the content and saying the game is dull.
As someone who's beaten Twintania 9 weeks in a row, and already have farmed the Extremes, this game is dull.
I think the answer is easy...unsub... I mean tat will solve you problem.. let everyone else enjoy their game haha
No one is preventing you from enjoying your game by expressing their opinions. It's not just that some of us feel the game is dull.. it's that we'd like to see a bit more here that keeps our interest, rather than just abandoning it all together. Opinions and even posts like this give feedback to the developers that not everyone is on the same page about the state of the game, and perhaps they can take some of that constructively going into the future and make something even better.
I don't really complain about the fact that the game is dull to be quite honest, but if asked, or if the topic comes up, I'll definitely express my opinion. But I do stick around, because I believe the game has a potential future worth waiting for, if changes are put into place that are the catalyst for that future.
I don't mind waiting to see what happens. I may not sub every month, but I'll always be watching. And everyone is always entitled to his or her opinion.
You don't have to complete all the content to think the game is dull, it simple is a matter of preference. From what the OP is suggesting by stating he is bored with the game, that leaves me inclined to believe that this game isn't for him at least not for now. I can find myself bored at times, even though I haven't done all the content, although its probably a sign i have been playing too much. I give myself a few days then come back to it. With the holidays it seems boring for me because a lot of the people I play with on here haven't been around as often so I have also not logged in as often.
Now instead of just stating that the game is dull give us examples on how to make it more interesting for you.
I think if they release Notorious Monsters for Vanity gear only it will greatly reduce my boredom. One thing I loved about FFXI was NM hunting, albeit it was a major time sync for most and a lot of people thought it was boring it was one of the best parts of the game for me.
Have crafters also make vanity gear things that look pretty or epicly awesome. Give us vanity slots.
You can have custom Emotes that go along with those Vanity gears from NM these are things that will provide alternative time syncs and quality of life to the game.
As it is right now it seems I am running around with no real purpose. I tend to farm a lot and try to make money because I am not to interested in doing End Game content without my static group. So I am working towards helping the FC get a house. I really would like other things to do while I am farming such as Notorious Monsters.
They are, however, making it very difficult for me to visit these forums, or tolerate randoms in game.Quote:

There comes a point in time when the question has to be asked : So why are you still here?
"Because this game has potential." Seems like an awfully slim excuse to sit around and ruin other people's time complaining, though I shouldn't impress your explanation on other's complaints.
Me? I'm a kid in a playground. I've too much to do as it is and the people who are calling these things dull make me wonder just what they look for out in this genre.
Donot understand these posts. Closest I can come is you ARE SEEKING something that
cannot be found in a game.
Go outside irl and spend 6hrs a day or 3hrs a day working for the closest charity or elderly volunteer.
Than most likely you will truly find what things are genuinely missing.
It's funny because some people said the same thing 3 years ago. " This game has Potential" when asked " Why are you still here?"
After 3 years, personally, I am going to think you are a person trying to troll ( but you really like/love the game).
Giving suggestion is one thing, but putting out " I quit threads" or any type of thread "like this one" that doesn't give anything productive for SE to even consider is really stupid.
White knights don't ruin my disenjoyment in certain aspects of the game.
No idea how opinions can ruin others enjoyment of a game. If you don't like it, then don't click.
Well the intention of the thread was plainly set out in the title. You could have just... not clicked on it. This is usually the case with just about every complaint-style thread.
You think something having potential is a slim reason not to give up on something? I find that attitude extraordinarily baffling. In the world I live in, potential can be the meaning of and the reason for just about everything. Potential is the untold story and, often enough, it is well worth waiting for.
Have you ever looked up the dictionary definition of 'forum'? "A place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged." Perhaps the real problem is that people feel these online forums are strictly for people who agree with one another, rather than places of legitimate discussion. A place to pat each other on the back, rather than have any real conversations at-length.
No one is forcing you to read complaint threads, and for all the world of "why don't you just leave" or "why are you still here", people behind those phrases refuse to take their own advice: As soon as you get into the thread and notice you don't care for it... why don't you just leave?
My guess is exactly the reason we're all here: To discuss.
Therefor, you've basically debunked your own logic. *shrugs*
Then, if you have "too much to do" and are a "kid in a playground", I guess only one quote remains...
"So why are you still here (in this thread, or on these forums)?" ;)
I'm looking forward to the vanity gear, and I really wish they would bring NMs back (do they have plans on it? Or still just a pipe dream). These are examples of the potential in the game to come... with vanity gear, I know it is coming, but for NMs if they are not on the drawing board right now, I have high hopes they will one day return them to the world.
Great idea :)
You. I like you.
So basically you don't even like helping other people get content done, nonetheless finish content you haven't done yet.
That's pretty funny, they gave us A LOT of content.
The problem I have with complaint threads, is not the just don't read it part. The part I find annoying, is that this "Forum" is so convoluted with complain threads, that anytime I want to read, actual intelligent posts, with real information, it gets pushed back 5 pages because of all the dumb troll and complaint threads.
Saying that this type of thread gives SE feedback is a joke, we all know this "forum", is just for venting, it's a way to let people complain in a setting where they feel like they might be heard. Everyone know you can't satisfy MMO players. No matter what they will always complain, it doesn't matter what you give them.
Like I said, the only thing these threads do is push the good threads down, and further back on the page lists. So just unsub, and let us enjoy the game.
Really? You'd hold onto an abusive relationship because it has 'potential' to make you happy? Who's logic is baffeling here? It's fairly black and white to me. If you are not enjoying something, then you don't spend your money to play it. You don't have to 'give up' so much as learn to spend your time and feedback wisely and not play a game that's not satisfying you, even if you see the 'potential' in it.
When it comes to the point that you enjoy it again, put your money down. Instead of sitting with your hand in your pockets, giving your money away, and giving little feedback except "I'm bored."
Pot calling the kettle black. This entire thread was not designed for discussion, it was designed for confirmation bias. The fact that I am being attacked for challenging the perspective of this thread is evidence enough to the hypocrisy of the point you're trying to make. You made a statement, I've engaged that statement with a personal observation to counterpoint that statement.Quote:

Most times, I do, and your retorts illustrate why most times I do. There's no room for discusion here. I asked a simple question: Why are you still here? And I questioned the prospect of 'potential' being a reason for keeping a subscription. There was no intended insult: Merely an acknowledged lack of understanding and an expression of frustration at character of conduct that is, in fact, causing me grief.Quote:

I acknowledge this is a forum, however rather than being a forum of conversation, as you claim, it is instead becoming an echoing chamber for the aggravated, like you are displaying.
Then rather than assault those who put this discussion, and the subjects presented, into question, I recommend you approach the topic academically, and answer the question honestly. There must be something you enjoy other than simply the potential, for you to stay around.Quote:

Your biting tone is noted, but I'll answer honestly: Because I'm at work, and can't play the game. So, like a masochist, I come here looking for what would be the sharing of information and the constructive method of feedback, and as always, find ego stroking and pointless whining. Again, this would be a discussion if people were to take blofin's example and LIST the things that would make them excited, instead of distill the conversation to "OMG SE FIX IT I"M BORED"!Quote:

That will always remain my criticism of threads like these. I'm more than willing to engage in constructive conversations as to adding more content or adjusting content that would improve the game. Usually, when called upon to do so, the opposing perspective always comes up short. Would you like to be an exception?
Haha best post I read in long time on these forums!. Next update well see hard mode Moogle King!.
Seriously they just making a joke of there storyline by keep introducing these damn primals!. We kill them oh wait!, they not dead they been resummoned now they stronger. We kill em again oh shit wait they not dead they been resummoned?. WTF lol we kill Ultima no wait he's alive and come back stronger!. I mean c'mon how many times we gotta keep beating on the same content before we can actually say it's DEAD?.
Eh, FYI: Ultima's dead. Ultima's Bane is just an embellished recount of the events from the Praetorium.
kthxbai
Whatever it's still the same shite whatever way they want to put a spin on it?. Ultima - Ultima Bane dodge plumes in & out hmmm wonder where we seen this mechanic before?. Just give us open areas with key items to force pop NM already!. Sea & Sky were awesome in XI (no I don't want XIV to be like XI but to ignore some of the good things from it just seems stupid!. They gotta do something to make the open world seem more dangerous and open at the moment it's yawn...
Actually, we're currently fighting Hard Mode Moggle Mog. Yoshida already stated that Normal Mode versions of the Primals will only be used for the journey from L1-50. The next update will give us Extreme Mog, and Hard & Extreme Leviathan.
For someone who says they're making a joke out of the storyline, you sure don't seem to have paid attention to it at all. First of all, we never really killed any of the Primals. We slew their physical forms, but the entire point is that they're summoned out of the Aether. Defeating them just sends them back into it until they're summoned again. And, as Mega_Man_U stated, Ultima never came alive again, nor became stronger. It's just the Wandering Minstrel telling a story about your fight.Quote:

You still missing the point. So I'll keep it short wether it's physical form or ghosty form or whatever it's still the same crap with a couple extra mechanics thrown in!.
Sorry for the mistake ok next update we will see Extreme mode Moogle King!.
Edit:- let's hope they add some in and out plumes for it I think that might be fun?. You know something original might put my idea to Yoshi!.
