SE always has a fairly small show. Last year was a tiny booth with FFXIV, a big screen showing some trailers and about 10 or so demo setups with some downloadable games.
Oh and action figures, yay.

They had a decent sized booth at PAX last year showing off what I now call the "AlphaBeta".
Too bad the thing crashed on me four times in a row, then they said, "Oh you gotta go and let someone else have a chance to play." Nothing to see here, move along.
true!!!
news?? where?!
bahh....
Next news will be...
Ok, /jokemode offQuote:
Letter from the Producer XI, June 9 2027
Sorry for the delay, but the 1.18 patch required a lot of time.
We finally have a release date: the patch will be live on June 16, this year.
Patch will bring new mechanics and tweaks to the battle system, the introduction of the jobs system and new dungeon based content!
Here we go:
- Auto-attack option added, stamina bar removed
- Fourth action bar added, 1 more action point for every 26 ranks
- Brand new exciting job system, with the introduction of the first available job so far: Puppetmaster, but without a puppet
- A new exciting dungeon: mog house (current known issue: moogle cant be targeted)
Side note:
- Since the number of players have reduced, we decided to merge all servers into a smaller one
- Next update will feature new content, a new job (hint: can use a lance...) and rank cap raise to 50,5
However I'm not lolling tbh, we want newz!
I know they're working hard (at least I hope so), but with the patch getting so close (?) is sad we still dont see absolutely NOTHING :(
I wonder if they're scared to post any solid info about the patch. I fear that they realised that it will disappoint a lot of people and that they're afraid of the reactions. Just trying to rationalise it, cause I'm not sure why else they would be so silent.
Fairly small show? you kidding me!? they promoted the crap out of this game, had a huge banner across the entire enterance, i dont even think that happened this year, they got full on announcement on Sony conference (which is weird as they're not first party sony or exclusive even though the guy thought they was) and had lots of booths all over promoting it, even got its release date then so it was pretty mental time.
If only we had known....
How can SE fix the game when they never freaking update it?
Unfortunately they use to do Producers Letters every two week too, over 5 days late on that one with no even vague "It's coming" message. It's odd, things seem to be slowing down instead of speeding up. I was hoping maybe we'd get a big content showing letter on E3 week, not at E3 mind you, just a big letter to coincide with a lot of other big game news. It's a bit of a missed oppurtunity to not try and get people here excited when basically every other game out there uses this week to generate hype.
That's the balance I struggle with, I want to know more, when, how long, quests, jobs... etc... ahhh!
But you are right, I'd rather them focus on the game then spend time making pretty updates about things that would have come sooner, but we had to take screen shots.
And at the same time, having no news makes the excitement die down, as well as my enthusiasm for playing the game. It's a catch 22 really, damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Still, I'm really surprised we haven't heard anything at E3 or if not there on the lonestone thus far, if we don't hear anything this week will be because we are distracted with E3 and they are saving it for next week, however, that is still a long time to go between news updates.
No news is good news, so it is said, but i am really hoping for some news too either tomorrow or Friday. I sure hope it comes before the weekend! *accesses guardian favor*
You post as if SE is just one guy sitting in a dark room coding... It's a company. It has many employees. Work doesn't stop if someone post information on the forum or takes a crap for that matter.
It's perfectly reasonable, given the dedication of the few remaining players, to ask or even demand information. Even if its "check back in two weeks."
Not really... It was quite large in size, and the letter says it's more hotfix then anything else. So it's more of a prep patch for 1.18 along with another targeting option.
Letter updates have (so far) always been underwhelming even if you expect almost nothing from them, but the size of the file, to me, says that they are loading in assets so 1.18 won't be 2GB in size.
With 1.17, a, and then b being around 300+MB in size each, that's around 900MB to 1GB in size. Now, if 1.18 is another 300MB+ file we are talking about 1.2GB - 1.3GB of data in the past month. That's a lot of data, and that's assuming 1.18 is that size it could be larger.
Anyway, each patch, no matter how small, brings us closer. :)
yes it was fairly large in size, but that was not needed. It wasn't a "prep-patch" or anything like that. No new .dats were implemented. No .dats were changed (aside from what was listed in the letter). The patch was a waste. Each of these 300MB updates is just a copy of the previous, save for a few changes. Nothing major has changed in any of those.
I can't believe they took the time out of their days for that BS effing Q&A for gathering. They literally gathered out questions and didn't answer any of our questions. They should of just scrapped that and put some effort into our lodestone page. I dont care if its different teams lol, i guess i'm just disappointed in the Q&A lol
Ya it has already been shown and proven by many threads and people that unfortunately we are Dling multiple copy files. Each letter patch contains the info of the ones before it and we are just redling data we already have. The pre patch speculation needs to end. If you do a clean install and update you will notice that your file size for the game will be considerably smaller then those who have been patching since release. It is a very odd way to do things but unfortunately that is what it is.
Maybe SE just sucks these days....
they're too outdated for this decade
that's the truth
The next news you're going to get is when patch day is coming. Which is most likely next week. So, wait til next week?
Looks like SE is going some NARPG route with FFXIII, they're modernizing themselves so to speak I guess, although I don't think its a good idea at all because I like Final Fantasies for their uniqueness but I'll take a little change. FFXIII is going to have "choices" which will change the outcome of the story (although I doubt in any significant way) and "NPCs in towns will have dialogue options" according to the devs. Ummmm I have no idea how this fits into this topic specifically but I figured I didn't wanna a new topic that will get deleted anyway and this topic has been talked all out sooooo yea what do you guys think of this move by SE? I'm actually looking forward to XIII-2 now, at first I thought it was a quickie considering how fast they developed it.
SE: "Sorry for the late news everyone! Unfortunately patch 1.18 is taking longer than expected, so we decided we will break off some of the content into 1.17c to release it early."
Everyone else: *emorage*
At least I hope it doesn't happen like that.
this game is quickly getting boring. All u do is leves leves leves. I think ffxiv is on the back burner, new hitman game and ffxIII-2 by se and all those other ones that were mentioned in other posts.. SE the FF series is your gravy train what are you DOING.
My husband saw Yoshida at E3 today, so there's probably not going to be any news until next week. If he had drafted a Letter from the Producer before he left for E3, it should've been up by now. But nope. What's he doing there anyway? Is he working on another title besides FFXIV? IMO, he should be back at headquarters, churning out news as often as possible to keep players interested.
If he is there and not 1. Promoting another game or 2. Doing an interview about this game, then he is doing a great job at ignoring us.
LOL he actually has no work at E3, he's just running away from us. No but really I wonder what he's actually doing there, I haven't heard anything FFXIV although there is one more day to go but I don't think day 3 brings much usually and I doubt he's promoting another game. Him ignoring us is the only logical choice.
Maybe he is promoting Dragon Quest Monsters 2 at E3 (i think he is the producer as well).
Maybe I can get one of the live cam guys on Gamespot to walk over and ask if he was there and what was he doing, >.> haha yeh they'll defiantly do it........
He's probably just gone to meet with partners, that's basically what our company use expo's for - easiest time to get everyone in one place at one time.
Other than that he could just be keeping up on industry news, who knows. He could give us an update from E3 though!
E3 isn't just for announcing stuff.
In fact, when I worked for an accessory company for 3 years (and went to 3 E3s, this is the first time in 4 years I haven't been to the expo myself) they were used to announce new products but, most importantly, business and sales meetings.
As someone already mentioned, E3 is where everyone is at the same time. You can see loads and loads of Walmart Sales reps or Gamestop associates. Surely they aren't there to announce new videogames.
Maybe the new development phase will take time like how Duke Nukem Forever took time...
I am always okay if you have to take more time to get things together, this is not the case however. Hiding this essential information for a long period of time has gotten to the point where people are being indecisive if they want to continue playing a game where developers do nothing but give vague statements on upcoming content.
We are in the month where you all have claimed that the version update will be put in, yet we barely have any information on what is going on. The small battle plans were nice, but extremely vague on the overall picture.
I wouldn't raise people's tension here any higher and at least give them something.
