dude you guys are so funny, melee and bards are going to have a nightmare on their hands dealing with casters who can sprint at will when they can't as it drops their DD to 0
Ok for u non casters or trolls: here's a little something that happens in pve. You see a mob u want to hit and u are casting lets say like Rhas said Bliz 3. U aren't wasting ur precious swiftcast on it u see the bar fill up but the mob moves and then that lovely msg that comes at the end of the cast: Interrupted. This is only AI imagine a person. What person will just stand still for ur cast? Circling and strafing and LOS ftw. Again lethargy and scathe while u are waiting on that swiftcast. Sounds fun no?
You guys really think they have not tested BLMs out in PvP before release? Why do you think scathe got nerfed? because of how overused and OP it is in PvE content? damn creatures… play the content for a bit before you come here and whine like lil b*tches

blizzard ii(for bind) has cast time
freeze has a cast time
not sure how the new pvp sleep works but probably has a cast time?(3 min cd)
lethargy is the only tool that you have w/o blowing cds! maybe pvp sleep if its instant.
so only way to kite is with cds:
1) swiftcast (1 min this will work)
2) surecast (30 secs but can be silenced?)
3) the pvp skill where your casts are uninterrupted for maximum of 20 secs (5 mins immune to silence? idk)
4) pvp sleep (3 min if its insta cast)
Keep in mind that every time you cast a fire I, melees gain 5 feet forward. Unless you are planning on running around like an idiot spamming nerfed scathe and waiting 1 min for swiftcasts, you are going to get zoned in by melees.
The natural instinct for [almost] every player in [almost] every MMO is to whine as soon as the patch notes are up. In fact, I think it's an unwritten law.
I mean do you guys really just want and new ability say called.. "I win" cast time instant damage is 100% of opponents hp? seriously?
That was his point. It was nerfed in preparation for how it'll be used in PvP.
However, I use Scathe quite a bit in PvE, so nerfing it for PvP really ticks me off. Yoshida said they wouldn't be nerfing PvE skills for PvP balance, and that was the whole purpose of creating skills for PvP only. Other games screw up PvE efficacy of classes when they balance things for PvP... This is why a lot of games make class abilities have different number values in PvP and PvE, so they can be balanced SEPARATELY.
Hey friend gave me a great tip for pvp: Hide behind summoner's garuda! She will hopefully push the attacker back! In fact let every magic class have a garuda.
Scathe got nurfed to further drive home the point that Yoshi P and everyone else at SE hates... Hates... HATES BLMs. Once again lets count the ways. Shittiest and most usless job abilities (before you even say flare long cast time aoe fire 3 that uses ALL MY MANA), crappiest looking gear EVER, nurfed, and oh yeah take our fave aoe nurf it and GIVE IT TO EVERYONE!
This has prob already been said, i didn't look. All of the casters get a pvp skill that has 10 seconds of no spell interupt. u might not always be able to go uninterupted, but when you do you drink dos equis.
Equanimity II, cast anything you want without interruption for 20 seconds. Depending on buffs on the target and debuffs on you, you should at least down one player in 20 seconds. That's five casts and a raging double flare.
Attunement may look nice for healers, but they can't cast while it's active. But Blast Shot, Aura Blast, Skewer, and Mythril Tempest will be thorns in the side of a BLM that just popped Eq II.
As a BLM myself, Stop your bitching before you get to try it out, remember our class has more then 4 spells. You may just use your fire Fire 3 thunder 2 and blizzard 3 but if you ACTUALLY know how to BLM you will be fine. Sure we are gonna have to burn swiftcast and probably surecast, But tell me honestly.. What else do you use surecast for ._.
The cooldown on Equanimity is so long you'll probably get one use per match. Gee, I get 20 seconds of actual play before I go back to running around spamming my newly-nerfed lolscathe.
I don't like it when MMO PvP does this. It's very lazy to base your player vs. player content around denial, and it makes the person on the receiving end feel powerless and without agency.
I don't care? I want PvP to be fun in a way it's not going to be the way it is currently designed, so I am opting out. It doesn't matter which class I PvP as, as long as it's designed entirely around denial, it will not be fun. Either you're not having fun because you're always losing, or you aren't having fun because you're steamrolling everyone.
I'm waiting for someone to make an MMO with PvP that has absolutely no crowd control abilities whatsoever. Losing control of your character doesn't feel fun or challenging. Getting locked down by CC spam is miserable. It removes your agency completely. You don't have any realistic counter. You just die.
It feels cheap and frustrating.
Yes well, there's good news, it'll take all 4 about 5-6 seconds to kill the healer. In that 4-6 seconds you get to cast stuff! With all the jumps, stuns charges and silences and the fact that touching me will interrupt spell casting, i have a feeling i won't be alive very long. If i manage to live through the stun lock and silences, i'll at least get 3 lustrates and a swiftcast aldo off :)
Sometimes you think killing healers first is good idea but a concentrated blast from 4 ppl on a dps gonna tip the tides. We don't know how certain moves from tanks are going to work. In ffxi i was forced to only target tank for 5 seconds if i remember. Not to mention sure cast sleep to install freeze when they break your sleep so they break that also followed up by a ethereal manipulation to the tank followed up by your pvp move to allow casting for the final sleep to killing ppl...win and profit
I'm pretty new, just picked up the game because pvp has come out, i like games where there is pvp and pve
But everyone seems to be talking about is they are the only ones who will have to create the gap, if your playing in a team why would your team mates not be stopping people from getting close to you?
Pvp is always teamwork its not a 1v1 use your team...
I'm thinking it's going to be interesting as a Paladin deciding each fight whether to throw Cover on DPS or Healer, probably depending on who the other team targets... that 12 seconds of no damage could make a huge difference.
It's a damn shame Cover is basically useless due to it not working half the time. It's funny how they "buff" Cover by extending it's range {still shit) but don't address the issue with the current in-game bug.
I give it a week before the Tank forums are filled with PLD tears in regards to PvP.
