hmmm spam spear throw while closing distance to blm even just turning around and elusive jump behind them and invigorate and proceed to face-rape. doesnt seem to hard to me
OMG, the PVP turns out to be bad and boring! Who...could ever see that coming with such a skilled PVP-Developer as SE?
cause if they are moving away from you they cant....cast. but a drg can go lol spear toss. and as a pvper im not stupid enough to focus on a tank im going for the mages, unless se gives tanks an ability that makes you lock on tank that you yourself cannot even unlock i will never focus on the meat shield. its common sense.
And as I've already said, the spear throw is 120 TP and does crap for damage, something your healer could definitely outheal. If its a healer you're going after, then good luck with the other 3 people beating on you, and more than likely snaring you in some way.
Can you please just wait until you play it before complaining about it? Seriously.
All magic users get Blizzard 2, an instant cast aoe snare that had its duration changed from 4 seconds to 8 seconds.
Its obvious this change was made for PvP, and it'll be a very crucial weapon in it.
Gap Closers:
MNK: Shoulder Tackle, Fists of Wind (not technically a gap closer per se)
DRG: Jump/Spineshatter/Dragonfire dive all three Dragoon jumps will place them next to the target (at least that's how I interpret the 'adjustment' they are making to jump's positioning).
WAR: Holmgang
Pushbacks/distancers
BLM: Aetherial Manipulation
WHM: Fluid Aura
BRD: (Forgot the name of it, evasive shot, something like that?)
DRG: Evasive Jump
SMN: Garuda has a pushback move
I think Scholar and Paladin are the only jobs without some form of distance manipulation.
Told ya. They hate mage classes. I know it since 1.0.
Im guessing sense u guys are gonna get interrupted during spells imma have r play more effectively on my paladin to protect u guys no problem there with me i got ya covered then
its not rocket science, and its in the notes that Hitting is an interrupt and mages have a cone of sight, and they cant move and cast, it wont be hard to exploit. Imagine Dark Souls if you will will the stabbing from the side and using the lag to pull off a backstab
Just like DAOC. Someone will need to learn to push/pull/keep the distance.
If it isnt laggy its good.
It's not rocket science? What you're doing right now is speculating something you haven't experienced yet. That's like doing rocket science without even knowing what a rocket is. And you did not just tell me to compare this game to another that is not only completely different, but is not online? What the hell is wrong with you?
Any direct hit. (does not affect DoT's) Have you seriously forgotten about our instants? (which includes aetherial manipulation) For moving I have scathe and fire III proc and an instant proc on thunder. Lets not forget to mention transpose for mp regen. Now what happens if I add in swiftcast and surecast?
I'm sure you can get the picture that its probably not going to be a one sided fight you think it will be. I've 'kited' plenty of mobs I shouldn't have been able to in ARR already and solo killed plenty of NM fates on my BLM as well.
umm dark souls is online. and im comparing to wow now that you mention since the game copied wow, and wows pvp isnt that exciting either. Ive played other mmo pvp there is literally nothing this game can to do that will make pvp unique at all, EVER. Its not hard to guess how it will end up. IT WILL be either kill the whm first or get limit off first is the win dont be naive.
Their team of jp devs that have never played pvp in a mmo before decided this was a good idea... I'm guessing? lol, I get the feeling they really wanted pvp to suck so they could go back to doing more pve.
This game just got even worse, and I actually want to vomit because they have my money.
yes i didnt forget that, it will be the spell i imagine i will be the spamming spell. as for AM Mnk can counter that and close that distance with shoulder tackle. and what i said before does Surecast and Swift cast ingore Stuns and silences if they are cast on you?\
but how with you get those fire 3 or thunderclouds of if someone is hitting you or you are running from them and cant cast because they are behind you while you run, and chances are even if you get a blizzard 2 of for bind they can still hit you.
My concern though all of this is everyone is saying well use X. Why? As a mage, people are telling me use my pushback, my sleep, my insert x to survive. Swell, while i'm literally just taking up time surviving, I'm slowly getting widdled away or more than likely quickly.
Didn't have high hopes on it to begin with, instant and constant interuption just seems frustrating to me and not worth the time. Guess I'm not hardcore enough.
Guys, Don't be so quick to assume that it will be as bad as you think. There could very likely be some changes we are not aware of yet. I agree I think that casting will always be interrupted with direct damage but lets look at this from a different angle.
What if direct damage and SKILL damage are not the same thing. Aka auto attacks would be the direct damage that would interrupt.
PVP brings out the worst people. This topic is proof of that.
I see you can't read. Of course level 1 abilities are crap.
Monk has 10 seconds to close the gap between him and the scholar. Fists of Wind, sprint with TP regen, etc. should close the gap really quick. If it's just the scholar against a monk with no interference, Monk wins. No contest.
Feel free to try and kite, I guarantee it won't work.
Agreed, I can see Monks being mage-killers. Silence on short recast, two stuns, enhanced running speed, a gap closer, invigorate+flee and the shortest GCD in the game.
Of course, with no pushbacks and the weapon throw abilities, there's not much they can do in the way of getting out of bad situations.
noone played DAoC that ppl are QQing about interupts ? I see no problem with it at all. Just wait and see if it is indeed fail or not.
The only thing I can compare this to is around closed beta 5 PVE was like this, for CNJ anyway, it sacked pretty bad and made it really hard to play a caster. So.....it was changed. Now, let's put it back when we have real opponents instead of the dummy AI, I'm slightly confused.
I understand theorycrafting about situations in the upcoming PvP arena and all, but QQ'ing full force without having stepped foot into the Den makes absolutely no sense.
Melee damage in this game can be avoided by running at times....hopefully blizzard 2 can save casters.
But here comes the Real issue
Bard: range instant dps..
Caster: cast interrupted
Bard: range instant dps..
Caster: cast interrupted
...
ACN/SMN/SCH: Ruin 2 (Blind). Then either sic pet or adloquium self for Stoneskin for no interrupts. (Critting Adloquium can give 3k Stoneskin, even a non crit is 1k+ with decent gear).
BLM: Surecast Sleep, Manaward/Manawall, Fire 3, Flare, convert, Swiftcast Flare
WHM: Swiftcast repose, ummm.... IDK...
Heres the thing, theorycraft is fun but until we actually play we really won't know how this works. I see it working something like this, its going to be a protect or preemptive interruption on mages. I can see strats evolving really quickly to be "ok guys interrupt the mages before they burn us down. And force the other physical dmg to focus on you or they will die" its pretty easy to get someone off of a mage if you try hard enough, you have multiple people in here for a reason a good stun will free up a mage or sprint from a mage themselves will make it much more interesting.
I actually can't see the patch notes from work (but can post on forums, go figure) so I can only work on the PVE abilities.
At the end of the day I don't expect PvP to be balanced on day 1, not through any form of favouritism, just because it is hard to foresee any and all party combinations and their interactions with each other. If one class gets too strong/weak, they will adjust the PVP abilities accordingly. If your class isn't FOTM, you just need to work harder at it till you are competitive in spite of this and wait for the buff that will put you right to the top.
Or, y'know, level all classes. It's not exactly hard to do.
