Lest we not forget that one upon a time there was Square Electronic Arts that brought us games like Xenogears, Vagrant Story, etc. sure it was just a way for Square to partner with large US publisher so they could get their games out easier in the west, but they did have a business relationship at one point in time.

Game companies buying each other out is pretty much a constant, and nothing surprises me anymore, so I'd say any of it possible. That being said, of all the listed companies, Disney seems like it would be most likely to just take whatever money the game is making and leave it the hell alone. And then build us a Final Fantasy roller coaster.

Unfortunately, any company that is actually in business for the love of making games, (like CDProjektRed,) probably can't afford SE; with the exception of maybe Valve, which was mentioned earlier.

So after quick Google search looking for Square Enix buyouts - I find nothing! Other then 3yr old reports that SE were buying Edios, so old news.
Would the OP care to share were these rumours are coming from?

As the idea that EA or one of the others would/could buy Square is insane, EA have their own cash flow problems to worry about at the moment and last I heard they were hoping to be bought by a private ecquity group.
I dont see SE selling themselves to another company considering their profitable and their assets arent just games related so they have a number of revenue streams avaible to them.

As an aside, I do hope it never happens. Happened with Turbine, Cryptic and Bioware - and we ended up with regular cash shop updates, everything RMT and (especially in Cryptic/Bioware case) very little real content.

Why? Neighter of these companies beside maybe Sony would make this game better. Activision would turn this into another World of Facerollcraft, Microsoft would do so you only can play it on xbone, EA would turn this into p2w while still having subscribes (which they would make higher to gain MOAR munny) and perfectworld, no I do not want this to be a p2w game tnx.

Also, this would only further westernfy (also known as turning stuff into shit) the games further. It would be the worst thing that could possibly happen to gaming.

Sony already owns a big part of SE and perfect world? Really? Dont they have enough of they sh*t? EA? Really? After that fail with SWTOR I dont think they want to buy a sinking ship. Microsoft and Activision? Might be possible but I dont believe they would risk buying an anime like games making studio(they usually dont have success in western areas).

But if this is a true:
Microsoft, Activision, EA or PerfectSh*t wins > I leave.
Sony wins > I stay. :)

Well, what really needs to happen is someone buys out Square Enix in such a way that Square Soft Reforms and we get the good ole days back.

Here are flaws in this little rumor you are trying to start:

1st. There is no chance that other Japanse coproration or Japanese government itself will let foreign company to buy Sqaure/Enix. Take a guess why Blizzard can not introduce WoW into Japan? Tip: There is one Japanse gaming company put a stop to it.

2nd. Sony wont buyout Sqaure Enix, if they have that interest, they would do it before Sqaure merge with Enix, especially Sqaure is taking a huge financial loss because of the Final Fantasy the movie. Sony only fund Sqaure instead.
