Communal outcry against sub-prime gear lockouts

Oh please if there where no lockouts you "super hardcore" players would have the gear for all your classes by now and would just be complaining about nothing to do much like you are now. Its that go go now now now mentality that is a person problem not SE.

So what would be the problem with CT / Primal lock out per job? You get a piece for your tank in CT. You can't 'get ahead of the casuals' on your tank by running more, but you can go ahead and get a piece for your 50 SMN.

You have more playtime, you have more 50s, now you can gear more 50s.

Extreme Primal drops i90 so should be locked. It's to stop people like me from gearing all of my classes. Notice the 'hardcore' players don't really complain about CT locks? Cause we already have craft melded gear that is equal or better, so we don't really care. It's the casual that complains about CT locks. Don't kid yourself if you're not willing to outfit yourself in full DL or craft what makes you think you want to run CT a bunch of time hoping for that one piece.

They could hire more people to produce content, which could make the game more fun and interesting in turn drawing more people to play. I only see lockouts as an annoyance forcing players to game when and how they want. Sure you can play it whenever, but only within said time frame.

Have you ever heard the prhase "too many cooks spoil the broth?"

Hiring more people only gets you so far. More people also means more red tape and more people to manage those more people and a dev team can eventually collapse under its own weight. You can't just throw more people at it. Do you have any idea just how many people are and have worked on this game? Did you ever watch the credits? the FFXIV team is HUGE.

Lockouts aren't a simple annoyance, they are a necessary means of pacing MMO content due the inherent difficulty in creating content faster than players can play it

While I'm sure there are people with that specific mindset, I'm also under the belief that people want an option that doesn't artificially stretch out content. Lockoiuts and RNG are designed to make content last longer through repetition. That mindset got very tiring long ago for most MMOers in my opinion. I feel that...many people wanted something...more current from Square Enix, myself included. If this is their way of doing content then I can expect every other bit of content to be on a weekly basis too, thus turning the game into a 1-2 day activity until reset, rather then something you can actively hammer out each day. Now the current game wouldn't work if they did things this way, but if they heightened certain aspects to fit a more time/invested game structure, then RNG/Lockouts could be eliminated, and long, engaging content could easily take it's place.

In theory when you think about 2.2 is going to be another 3 months? 12 weeks = 12 pieces of gear to at-least gear out a alternate class with.

Yeah, sounds like CT is already a roflraid, don't really feel like putting a lockout on it is legitimate when Coil is already serving as a ridiculous end-game speedbump for anyone who actually uses the armory system to play more than one job.

So the loot CD for CT is an entire week? I'd only heard that there would be a CD after looting, not the length. It's a real bummer that I have to choose between completing my mnk ninja suit for vanity and actual usable upgrades for my other jobs. It's like every decision SE makes is at direct odds with the armory system. Needing two drops to upgrade from those stupid two slot tank pieces makes this news even worse. WHO THOUGHT THOSE WERE A GOOD IDEA?! Tanks get so boned in the gear department. o_o /rant

Your absolutely right.
And.
It all went wrong when they made leveling not take more than a week. One of the mechanics of a new MMO that tends to save it from this whole train-wreck of everyone is done already, and we need lockouts, is slower leveling progression. Sadly that ship has sailed.

Posted this in another thread but it's relevant here also. Lots of players whine that they play Monday but then take the rest of the week off as they have nothing to do, but if there was no lock they would get everything in a day or maybe a week and then complain for not having nothing to do. It's really a no win for SE either way. I mean stop QQ about it and do something else in the game. Maybe level a craft or gathering job, I find them very relaxing, level other jobs that are not 50. If you have done all of this maybe, just maybe help out random people that are shouting for help or help those in your linkshells maybe even do both. There may be little content at this point but there is far from nothing to do in the game, and as someone said already there will be plenty as patches happen.

The solution to all of this is to appease the hardcore players who plays many hours a day by implementing UNIQUE MATERIA with a .02% drop rate from open world mobs. Unique and Untradeable! That should keep us busy the rest of the week.

FYI before I start CoB or any content that offers the best gear in the game should have a lockout. Now.....

I keep seeing this mentality pop up in other threads about the whole loot lockout. That some players are going to get the best gear in a singe freaking day, if there were no caps and then they would be done.... Wrong. A week maybe someone can max out gear on one job but I doubt it.

I guess people seem to think that the RNG gods are on everyone's side and that every single run they do a piece of gear drops they need and they would win it.

I posted this in another thread and seems to fit here

There's 8 classes/jobs even if it did take you one week to max out a single job in gear that is at least 8 weeks of content to go through. And patches are suppose to happen every 2 1/2 to 3 months right? 8 jobs 8 weeks = 2 months. And with RNG I doubt very many people are going to be lucky enough to get max in a week".

So if a handful of people are lucky enough to get their drops done super fast then that's their problem.

And a lot of the ones you claim that "QQ" every week have a lot of ilvl90 gear and there's no incentive to go back and do content with weaker rewards once you've capped for the week.

How about a Relic +2 weapon that has a materia slot that requires an epic quest line which includes defeating the 3 Primal Extreme fights and Ultima Bane fight? Upgrades your Relic +1 weapon to Relic +2, voila, your Relic +1 isn't replaced by Allagan weapon anymore, but having Allagan weapon will help defeat the primal extremes. SE should just hire me.

Except primals and ultima are i70 requirement... im positive none of those fights are gonna be harder than twintania is.

Also, hope they learned from their mistakes with these easy questlines awarding BiS weapons.

Enemies dropping materia doesn't make any sense, becuase materia is a material that is created by decomposing pieces of equipment, and why would random monsters just be carrying it around? makes no sense from a lore perspective.

Beyond that, what would people do with this materia? The people complaining about this aren't going to be happy using lv70 crafted stuff with materia even though it's completely viable for all the current content.

People don't have patience, they'll "quit" when they run out of things to do and come back when the game patches, increasing the content. People don't understand patience, especially gamers that have entitlement issues.

Considering you actually learn materia creation from a goblin I don't see where it makes no sense from a lore perspective, especially beastmen. And other monsters could have just eaten dropped materia by mistake(or along with some poor adventurer), nothing really illogical about it in any way really besides just not wanting to add it.
