They need to make this clear, and they need to make it clear before monday, because I've been passing on most allagan because of my AF2.
I don't care either way, but we NEED clarity.

It isn't yet clear if Yoshi is talking about the 'gear' or the weapons. If it's the gear then, {Looking for party} static coil group! send /tell to me!
This is a logical change since they will increase the myth cap in 2.1 making it easier to get myth gear. Would be kind of pointless to have rare loot that is the same or worst than loot u can get with 10min wp speedruns.
Even so by the time 2.2/2.3 hits everyone will have allagan gear/ myth gear on multiple jobs making it even easier to obtain allagan turning coil into another casual dungeon run puggable with ease.
I don't have a single allagan piece yet, and I'm ok with this.
Perfectly fine with this and honestly it still doesn't change much for bard as certain myth pieces will still be bis due to the accuracy off them. You can literally get equivalent gear to the hardest raid ingame doing nothing more than spamming easy 4mans, there's a problem when the best gear is just handed out like that even if it takes time to get. Having coil gear be the clear choice just drives home the point that if you want the best you need to be willing to work for it not be given equivalent handouts doing nothing more than facerolling.
this is gonna be bs, for one thing half of the allagan armor sux stat wise for alot of classes doin this just doesnt make sense
The people acting as if Allagan being i95 completely obsoletes Myth gear are rather amusing. Twintania (Hardest content until at least 2.2) has been downed just fine by people who weren't even full i90 yet. Why exactly would your i90 gear suddenly not be good enough anymore for the same content, because there's gear that has like 1 def and 1 stat more than Myth?
My only problem is that AF and relics have not and never was considered to be a final set of gear. I hope AF2 and relic (+2/3) will be the hardest and highest level gear to attain for a while.
I heard weapons in the interview, not gear.
You obviously are not an end-gamer.
Our issue is that we've been PASSING on allagan gear because it wasn't BiS so others could get it.
SE said "weapons" in the live letter, they wrote "armor" in the forum posts both jp and na. We need CLARITY, before we keep passing on high end gear.
Considering how rare it is to get the specific item you need for your job, yes, it is annoying to have given so many pieces to people who had it as sub job if they are going to change it.
Majidah is right.
Having passed on gear that will become BIS in the next patch isnt nice, we just want to know.
Also Yoshida stated that weapons from Extreme modes will be ILvl 90 so those 3 weeks of capping for your +1 relic will be wasted. I Have a +1 relic myself so i am certainly upset.
It would be nice if they clarified if the it is the weapons only or the armor also. I think it is only weapons though. Would be interesting if it was armor also, since I have mostly AF2 and been passing the Allagan gear to other members. >_>
So, good king moggle seems to be easier then HM titan, but drops better equipment?
I hope extreme primal drops ilvl 90 wep or something...
I was quite happy farming myth pieces knowing they were top end. Now if I want top end gear I'm FORCED to run coil wich I have no interest in doing. Way to drop the ball yet again yoshi, instead of giving us more options to gear up, your forcing us into a single, crappy, broken rng raid if we want good gear.
Except for the fact they said nothing about extreme primals dropping weapons, they said you will get a weapon at the end of a quest, not from the bosses themselves. He did however talk about "showing off" with what you get from them and since they talked about primal armor at one point it would be best to assume that is the kind of showing off he was talking about.
Makes sense that the bis gear would drop from the hardest raid. This is a good change, because running an ilvl 55 dungeon a bunch of times for level 90 myth gear which will be even easier to get 2.1 doesn't seem right. Best gear should come from the hardest raid. I too passed allagan to for someones alt job but I guess I would need it now.
What if the battles are so difficult that it takes most people longer than 3 weeks to defeat it? You would also need to be lucky and have the weapon you want actually drop and then win the roll for it. Not sure if people have forgotten but back in 1.0, the *hard* mode battles for Ifrit and Garuda were more difficult than they are now; in fact when the servers shut down, there were many people who had never defeated hard-mode Garuda yet. The %age of people who actually defeated Extreme mode Ifrit in 1.0 was much lower than that.
I think there's still quite a bit of the population who still haven't defeated *hard* mode Titan legitimately (not bought/carried) in 2.0 as well. I think people are really jumping the gun when they assume that they will simply be able to win/grind *extreme* mode primals and farm weapons there right away.
One idea I would propose to make everyone happy is that extreme-mode primals also drop a "totem" of some sort when you win. With x number of totems (5, 10, whatever.., you would able to purchase an upgrade for your relic+1 weapon to turn it into an IL95 "relic+2". This would also provide another IL95 weapon upgrade path besides Coil Turn 5 and give the game some variety in that regard.
Sorry guys. I know people are pissed but the majority of people here have played multiple MMO's in the past.
This kind of stuff happens all the time.
Gear gets changed. Nerfed. Buffed. New gear comes out and makes old gear obsolete. This has happened in every online game I can remember playing in the last 10 years. No one here should be shocked. No one should be pissed that you wasted tombstones on AF2 because it was bound to become obsolete at some point. (And it still isn't obsolete. Its just not the absolute BIS. You'll still be able to rock all available content.)
Besides, not having BIS anymore gives some hardcore peeps something to do now. Isn't that what people have been bitching about? Not having anything to do?
Q57: You can obtain weapons for the hard mode primal battles, but what kind of rewards will there be for the extreme-modes?
A57: When you clear extreme-modes for Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan, you'll be able to obtain an item level 90 weapon as a reward. We've prepared weapons for each job.
I'd be fine if they just removed allagan weapons and added a drop from Twintania that improved your relic. Though that'd be a waste of the allagan model.
Story gear > random drops from a box
I don't mind difficulty. I mind the loot not having any real background. Especially the weapon.
.... Do you know how much tank gear I've passed because I had af 1.5 and it's better? This change sucks.... Wth did I blow myth on my warrior/paladin when I could have just waited for the alagan crap, and it would be buffed to better and spent my myth on +1's....
I see SE is already running this game like wow, not just making it like wow, but managing it like wow..... Sounds like something blizzard would do to world of warcraft after a vocal minority complains that myth and relic are on par....
Imo, AF 1.5 should be better than alagan, not the other way around. And to get AF 1.5 it should require a method not involving farming tomes of myth.... E.g. there should be a 3rd chest on each boss in BCB that drops a Artifact Armor Token and you get one per boss for 1 person. The chest should be set to not drop a token unless someone actually needs it in the group
What bothers me is that many people like me have yet to be able to clear Turn 1 decided to get AF2 because it was on par with Allagan. Just took longer to get than Allagan gear.
I'm all for more and equal options. Allagan being equal to myth gear provided people who couldn't or didn't want to raid a progression path. Depending on how much they buff Allagan with the iLvl change they could cause major problems. If Allagan is a little better than stuff you can grind out over time, that won't be as much of an issue and keeps both camps happy. Hardcore raiders get the best gear and people who don't want to raid get gear that is say 1 primary stat lower.
I see a similar thing with the primal hard modes. People who don't have the time/desire to fight all three over again can get a relic +1 with enough time putting them on a near even footing with people who want to take their chances on the primals. And people with the new primal weapons get the ego boost of being one of the few with it. This side-grade stuff that has a different appearance extends the life of the game and makes it more accessible to everyone.
Yes, really. AF Class armor should always be the best gear in the game. And it should be astronomically harder to acquire. Think World Of Warcraft Tier Gear, Tier 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.... When I quit wow we were at Tier 8.5 and it was the BEST gear you could have. But you couldn't farm tokens for it.
Tier Tokens dropped off bosses in Icecrown Citadel
Was silly how myth gear was the same as Allagan in the first place, I mean common I'll just login 1 day a week and spam WP/AK and then logoff and play something else and then in X weeks I'll have the best gear in game. Frankly it's stupid. If you want the best gear, then do the hardest content for it. Simple as that. For all the people complaining about it being changed because they don't want to do coil, so why exactly do you need the best gear in the game then? To look pretty? To see you have the best gear in the game? Don't be silly.
Herein is the reason that Dev Team's reasoning on crafted gear being kept subpar is faulty.
This player (no slam to you Bichcat, merely making the example) does not want to do Coil. He/she is still obtaining gear at this time on par or superior to Coils equipment. o.O
Now Coils gear is going to i95 perhaps, but that is somewhat irrelevant unless the pieces that are not BiS have some statistics change. o.o i95 piece overflowing with redundant accuracy is still not as good as i90 with DET and CRIT in most scenarios.
Please consider this, Dev Team, in further considerations about the role of crafting in equipment choices.
