it seems to more or less work like this. If you jump, the server doesn't update your position until you land. So jumping actually hinders your ability to dodge, even though some people have this instinct to jump out of AoEs.

SE if you don't fix this, I am done with your game
Judging on the ping, I'm guessing she's in EU or SEA/AU. Funny how SE fails to actually support half their target markets. I have FC members from SEA playing the game that have to set up a VPN/tunnel just to get their connection to be passable, and still get 90k'd frequently at end game. Great players, and assuming they aren't lying their ISPs are among the best their countries have to offer, but because of a lack in foresight and coordination between marketing and network infrastructure they're stuck with a game that's only half-playable.
*Note: many SEA players have equal difficulty connecting to Japanese servers, and for those that may see a slight improvement are alienated because of the language barrier (i.e. English is widely spoken, Japanese is not).
I feel your pain mate, this reason is exactly why i won't be subscribing for another month. Before anyone says me to fix my lag or computer, i have a 250mbit upload and 250mbit download optical fiber line, my ms in wow is not higher then 35 playing from Latvia. I have a computer of capable running this game with 40 fps in a crowded town. And yet, i still get these occasional hits, which really are totally demoralising, some of my fc members has already quit, we are tired of wipes because of this thing and i'm going the same way. I leave those who say they have no issues to play this game in a peace, but those who have issues, don't waste your nerves, i highly doubt anything will change here.
Play Better!!!!! sometimes I get this feeling in my head when I play like a scrub/plebeian and I just tell my self if I play better, and maybe my party will be able to get to Coil 5 so we can all have fun, so I usually swallow the lag/ms issue instead of crying about it, and improve on foresight skills a little to overcome the challange.
I will play better...
Another game.
1) ADS' moves are always cast in the same order.
2) ADS resets its move order after absorbing a node.
These two facts will let you predict when piercing laser is about to happen and dodge it with 100% success. Spend more time learning the fight and less time qq'ing on the forums.
disable flying text. problem solved. your welcome.
I play from AU with 320 Ping...no issues what so ever in dodging Titan or ADS. There is a way to improve your ping and every single oceanic MMO players should already know about it.
It's on rotation, learn when it's coming and dodge preemptively if you can't dodge it reactively.
I like all the play better comments... cause it's totally normal in the past 13-14 years of MMO history to have to pre-emptively dodge an aoe instead of being able to rely on the ground effects and such you see on the screen. How that is seen as acceptable here boggles my mind.
Edited cause... silly post limit:
I did not. I've actually beat Titan and have been through Coil up to Turn 4. I do, however, get hit by AOEs if I'm not out by about the 85% mark in the cast bar. I'm not saying there aren't ways to work around the issue, cause there are, and they work for a lot of people (not those with already mid to high latency).. but just cause there are work arounds does not negate that there is an issue. Just because it may not effect me as badly doesn't mean I should deny it's existence.
Tell me, when you run in a straight line and repeatedly call your Chocobo, does it instantly interrupt the cast? When you're watch party members cast spells, do their spells actually look like they finish casting or do they stop around 80%? A large tell is that the main strat I see posted over and over for Titan is that you have to predict his movements and start moving slightly before he casts, or use a skill after you run out of the aoe. Those are work around for the underlying issue. I'd like the underlying issue fixed. Does me absolutely no good to deny a problem exists that is clearly there.
Yoshida himself has said with a "great connection" there is about a .1 second delay on cast bars. How many people do you think honestly have a "great connection" to servers in Montreal? That .1 second margin just keeps getting wider and wider.. and a large part of that has to do with how they do positional updates, and how that then interacts with latency. So people that could play and dodge just fine in other games get hit by stuff here, even when they're well out of the aoe.
Your healers really should be able to handle one person getting hit with laser, provided you have enough HP to not get one shotted. About the only excuse I have is being right in the middle of laser when it starts, then I have trouble getting out in time. Apart from that... not really an issue.
Look Honestly stop with the complaints just get better...
I've got 350 ms here in Sydney Australia and I'm on the NA servers.
If you're getting hit that means 1. You don't know when laser is coming or 2. You're just shitty with reaction times.
It's the same deal for noobs complaining with titan. Same deal.
Some of them seem to be synced enough. I dodge attacks like the Void Fira, Ifrit's Eruptions and Lava Plumes while relying on reaction (playing from South America - around 240ms ping), while others I have to move before the cast even happens (like Sheet of Ice from Stone Vigil's boss).
Not sure if this is an instance thing or what, but every single time the first boss in WP spits, the target will get hit. I've never seen someone dodge it if they're not already moving, and the cast isn't even fast enough to warrant so many hits.
I like all of the people defending SE in this thread and saying that it is the players fault that the way this game updates your position with the server has been broken since 1.0 even after that video was posted. It is noticeably better in 2.0, but there are still plenty of instances where you will get hit by shit you shouldn't have. There is honestly no excuse for it, but it is pretty damn clear they don't intend to fix it since the entire point of 2.0 was to overhaul the game engine and server structure, and that only worked to minimal success. If you are having trouble with dodging things then my suggestion is to cast an ability once you get out of the red zone. It has helped members of my free company on things like this, but I don't have any substantial proof that it actually helps update your position with the server.
I would also like to point out that in this particular instance there is virtually no room to run to preemptively dodge lasers. For those of you not familiar with it, there is a debuff that you have to pass around by touching a person and after you do so you are granted immunity and cant get it back. If the debuff tics down to 0 your entire party will wipe, so you basically have to cram everyone into the little room a certain distance from one another and you cant go near people unless it is your turn to either pass or get the debuff. If a person is preemptively running you are more than likely going to throw a laser on top of one or multiple people that are trying to move as little as possible so as to not screw up the debuff rotation. To make matters worse, at around 30%, it will typically use a move called ballast if you go a certain route which is an AoE that will basically destroy your entire party with high damage and a knock back if you get caught in it and it covers about 70% of the room. If you are not already out of it, or incredibly close to ADS then there is virtually no way to get out of it, so your ranged fighters are all basically sardined to a very small space on the back wall with limited movement space.
Crazy how people completely ignore her video evidence of her being outside the red zone and dismiss it as a L2P issue.
I was hit by ADS once, got knocked into the laser. Aside from that one time, this boss is no harder than any other boss in the game.
If you don't have the latency issue, ads is joke,
If you are lagging, ads & titan are god (unless you remember the boss skill rotation).
actually I think I play good! being the best warrior tank in my server in WOW,
have been played in world's top 10 wow guild,I am not showing off,I never mention this in my FC.
There were few times I go DF & people were amazed how good I played. ("the best tank I've ever seen", "cleanest run" etc)
I don't think I play worse than most people here! lol
unless you are Kungen, Buzz or some guy like them.(the best warrior tank on the planet, they are best of the best)
In the video, you can see I am not a slow hand, & I think I did the skill rotation right, also bard is not my main class
and this is the problem, good or bad player is defined by latency. not by skill or reaction. & that's why I said the system is broken
I never had this issue in WOW, our raid group FD bosses before DBM update the bosses skills(some mates in our group are ui authors too)
i blame canada
No, because clicking a green box measures your reaction time. You shouldn't be finishing that spell/skill cast when you see a death indicator under your feet anyways, it's your reaction time that triggers your common sense to immediately move away. You can consider yourself the best healer/DPS if you manage to cast off that spell/skill and then die .. oh wait, common sense? What's that? /sarcasm.
XIV 2.0 is too wowish, and the battle content is inferior to wow, boring than wow (AOE AOE AOE,DODGE DODGE DODGE,LAG LAG LAG)
no role playing content updates,
SE, expect players start quitting after few months
