It has already been stated that CT will drop the FFXIV equivilents of the weapons and armor that the CT dropped in FFIII.

SE needs to have some horizontal progression at endgame.
If all crystal tower gear is weaker then baha Lab. Then honestly the content is negated already and not really worth doing. My guild has 4 groups getting to the final turn in Lab now, it is basically on farm status outside twintania which is more or less nearly unkillable.
Also I want to know why 24man content is considered casual endgame through finder. Guild are what alliance content should be for. BL should be the DF content not crystal towers.
Ragnarok drops from the crystal tower in FFIII, I think that reason alone makes the CT worth it. BTW ninja weapons drop as well so when ninja gets released it will prolly be important for all ninjas to run CT.
/smh
I really hope that one day they make a really fun, badass dungeon that has no gear upgrades at all. Just as a social experiment to see who plays these games for the actual entertainment value and not just as some stepping stool for better gear.
Those will still be 8M parties.
She's saying that there should be a 24M worth running if you're into progression or challenges. And so far, that is not on the horizon. It's a lot more work for a FC to organize a 24M raid than an 8M, and they should be rewarded for doing so.
Large raids tuned to be cleared via DF pugs from day 1 release are not normally worth repeating, if for no other reason they promote sleeping at the keyboard and leechers AFKing.
I disagree that is it more work to organize a 24man in a guild. It is a nightmare of ungodly proportions to manage 8man content currently in a guild setting.
If you do not have exactly 8 man intervals with people on the exact jobs that are needed that are geared you have people sitting out.
24man alliance is alot easier to get everyone involved without screwing people over.
For pugs/statics 8man is easier, for organized guilds 8man is alot harder to get together without screwing over some members. Issue is coil is designed for static groups not guilds, which are extremely detrimental to guilds due to the fact they fracture them into smaller sections.
My issue with Crystal Tower is I want a reason to take my guild there. The thrill of beating it or it is a cool dungeon is not really good enough to enter it more then once. Sorta like wanders palace, cool dungeon, but I will never go in there again until SE makes it worth doing. Coil + alittle bit of 5-6min garuda spaming gets you to myth cap. Pretorium still give the best philo/min rate.
I was dumb and was hoping crystal tower was going to be like Nyzul Isle or a Farming zone like sea/sky. I guess the days of a diverse end game are over. This makes me sad.
I am not high enough yet, but if I get to that point before CT comes out, I plan on waiting, I would like to do it first before CoB
Seeing as you can do BC with i70 gear... it's just stupid for SE to rush the game.
Crystal Tower needs to be Redone I posted this in another thread about 2.1.
The only way I even see this game lasting the test of time and not failing like most other MMOs, other people keep talking about is for SE to say...
"Hey guys CT was to hard for launch and we wanted to lower the difficulty and give it to you in 2.1 but it turns out most of the player base is simply to hardcore and has pretty much beaten CoB (turn 5 unbeatable but that's another post) So our new plan is to launch 2.1 in late Dec. with CT being harder than CoB and we rescaled the gear to be better than CoB/Relic gear and that way you guys will have something to keep you busy while we work on 2.2 update hope you enjoy."
That's what I want to see done. Many of you sit here thinking "No CT was already suppose to be released" yes that is true but there is no point in adding it with a lower difficulty and lower gear ilvl80 even if 2.1 comes out in Nov. it will not be enough content to keep the masses occupied until 2.2 which would probably be 3-6 months after 2.1.
I just don't see anything in 2.1 update keeping anyone happy for more than a month and that's pushing it.
I just really don't see the point in adding content that is easier even if it is made for the casual and can be used in DF. CoB has pretty much been beaten Except for turn 5 because there is a glitch and SE is not going to fix just so people can't run around in turn5 gear before CT is out. People are doing CoB in ilvl70 gear when it was meant to be done in CT gear(ilvl80).
I don't want to do Crystal Tower for 3-6months to gear a job that isn't my main. I would rather do CT for 3-6 months on my main job and gear it out and be ready for 2.2 when the next set of CoB comes out.
Maybe a new way to farm tomes For those that don't need the gear.
Well, it seems to me that you are the same kind of player that whines that there is not enough end-game content, and yet you're also whining that the tower won't gain you anything - and therefore implying you won't run it because there is no point.
I'm sorry, but that is an incredibly short sighted and limited view of content in an MMORPG. This stuff is meant to be experienced by players in groups, who are playing the game - remember it is a game - for the fun of it. looking at everything through a lens that analyzes whether you will personally benefit from it, or whether it will benefit your gear is incredibly limiting. Every game will have a small selection of content at the highest level that will specifically benefit those who already have the best gear, that is completely normal, and to think otherwise is self centered and naive.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Many people take the game much slower, even "earliest adopters"
Example: I started playing @ early access, and I've done AK a grand total of ONCE.
I've spent most of my time crafting and getting cross-class abilities done.
So to your (completely fallacious) statement that nobody who isn't to coil yet or hasn't started playing yet could benefit from CT, I say to you, sir, WRONG.
A team of 8 is always easier to pick up than 24. If your guild is concerned of people being left out, the easiest option is to recruit more. For the leader, it's always easier to babysit 7 people instead of 23. If anything, you should be recruiting and filling three CoB teams for the 24 CT team. Besides, it would probably help to have stepped foot in CT before even passing judgement.
When will people figure out that this is an MMORPG, it's meant to be a social experience, a shared experience with friends, where the friends you bring along or meet along the way make the game worth playing more than the content. I don't understand this point of view that the game has to be a never ending churn of content to replace what went before because it no longer offers elite players a significant benefit to their gear. If your horizon is limited to the personal benefit to your gear, no game can last at all. The open-ended nature of MMORPGs is not predicated on the continual release of new dungeons, it's the interaction of players. A solo video game depends entirely on new content for longevity. It seems to me that the mindset that is on display in your post is more suited to single player games than multi-player games.
Much of the player base is stuck on Titan. Hell, a vast number of people are pretty much stuck on Ifrit skill wise. Ifrit rush says hai. I have noticed many people deciding to not go into coil until the rest of their FC catches up. I also see shouts for coil, most of which require that you have started overgearing(+1 gear) or no join. So I really wouldn't say much of the player base is too hardcore. Legacy servers aside.
wrong post
Looking at content only for the gear... Not even going to touch that.
okay maybe I will.
Yoshi-P himself said he was going for a themepark set-up for this MMO. CT is a new ride that was postponed in its installment. No one's saying that just because you paid for your ticket to get in, that you HAVE to ride the new ride. If it doesn't look appealing to you, then skip it.
This whole situation was handled kinda strangely as CT was intended to be done before BC. I get why they left BC in without CT as it would give the hardcore players something to do while waiting for new content, but at the same time if people are fully geared from BC there will be little point in doing CT more than once for experiencing the boss fights and whatever story is associated with it.
This won't affect the majority of the players, but there will be a very small minority of hardcores that may not hang around much in 2.1 if they finally clear BC and get Turn 5 on farm. It's been my experience that some people within this group of players don't want to do much outside of raiding (i.e. not interested in leveling other classes) so I doubt the other content coming out in 2.1 will be enough to hold these people over until 2.2.
Bottom line is that if you, as a player, don't feel like CT is worthwhile for you, then chances are IT'S NOT FOR YOU!
Most players haven't even stepped into endgame yet. I know it doesn't feel that way to many of those who have spent the last 1.5 months blazing through content, but most of the playerbase hasn't done much, if anything at the end. By the time CT comes out, it will provide another avenue for gear for those players, as well as any other new players to the game who join later.
I'm actually looking forward to CT, hopefully you're not as restricted to enter as with Coil and you can gear up your other jobs. Remember right now no one can beat turn 5. That means it's 6 pieces of gear between 8 people for those who can beat turn 4. Not everyone can. I've been running coil for 3 weeks now and got 1 piece. I pray that Crystal Tower puts out more than that.
Crystal Tower was suppose to be out at launch. It was designed to be between Titan and Coil. As far as I know, very few (if any) FC's have even cleared BCB legitally. Crystal Tower should offer new itemization opportunities to make BCB a little easier to gear for. Right now we have darklight and AF2 and that's about it unless you do turn 1/2/4 enough times to gear out on those to clear 5.
Why doesn't SE drop different tomes for CT, and then offer alternate things to buy with them? So people who run coil would be able to get other items instead of gear. This could include mounts, minions, housing items along with gear drops. Kind of like a rep grind deal.
There is never enough end game content at launch that is a reality for MMOs. Perhaps I am just spoiled by tiered progression being linear from the start. Given that they will be adding more floors as time goes on gives the zone relevance.
I will be among the first to run something only because an item it drops looks cool. I guess the homogeneity of gear is starting to wear on me. If ilvl 90 is automatically better than ilvl 80 or 70(god I hate item levels) than the motivation to acquire lower gear is harder to muster; if higher level gear is obtainable with the current level of gear I have obtained.
I recognize that many people find the leveling and gearing of all the jobs to be an enjoyable experience. I might as well if fates were not truly the most viable method of leveling your alternate jobs. Fate grinding hurts, it is not fun for me. I also do notenjoy melee classes, and am terrible at them truth be told, so those are out for me. I have lvled BLM to 50 and wow, so utterly boring for me. Bard is quite similar. I wish they were more support than they are.
However that topic is not what this thread is about. Since many talked about it I thought I should respond as the OP.
Also it is not do I personally benefit from CT in its current form, but does the game? This game currently is centered on gear, that's all there is to it. Once housing is launched, I will probably get lost in it.
I havnt been in coil yet so CT's gear is better than what I have.
Ahahahaha, people saying how CT is worthless because coil drops better gear. Once again, does all new content always need to be harder than the previous content?
Coil drops you ilvl 90 gear, but due to lockout, running a full Coil run will gives you 0.75 pieces of Allagan gear a week. Myth tomes are capped at 300 a week, so AF2 is also very slow to get. How is CT worthless if it lets you replace your ilvl 70 gear with ilvl 80 when you already did your weekly caps?
I am guessing CT will drop 6 pieces of gear per boss. Since coil drops 2 pieces of gear for 8 people, now you have 24 so they should multiply that by 3.
I bet we will hear all these rant stories about how X person won whatever piece of gear and how Y player deserved it more.
