How did you stop sucking at Titan?

If this was a solo fight then this ^ would be the solution. Sadly though you need to rely on seven other people to be able to do their job well as well. Also since there is very little reason to actually kill titan after you kill him for whatever relics you need the people who can kill him without any issue have no real reason to help out others.

Titan should be dropping at least 50 philosophy and maybe 10-20 myth.

I had the same latency problem on my first run. By the time I saw it was coming it was too late. I solved it by always staying in motion. I basically strafed him from side to side. So if I saw it come up I was already part of the way to where I needed to be.

If you're the tank or the healer, this is problematic. But if you're DD and having this problem, just stay in motion.

I've done the fight multiple times now to help my FC and the strafing pattern always works for me.

The best way to dodge it is to know the pattern, and usually plan your movement for where you're going before it casts.
You don't want to run toward another player, you don't want to run in front of titan (cleave damage hurts).
I tend to try and place myself:
near the center either I will be on the far left/right of the group and strafe around titan to get out of my weight...
back of center and run toward (but stay behind) titan
front of center and run toward the outside edge (there is a danger that you run off doing this)

The other thing you can do is make sure you have enough HP to be able to "eat" one of them. This means you might not have optimal gear going for more +vit than +main-stat... or you're using Vit food... and carry potions/elixers to help heal yourself up. You don't want to eat them all but if you DO eat one at least this way you're prepared and not dead on the floor. A good ballpark HP is 3000 (although I prefer 3,200).


I tanked Titan as a War with 6,500HP, I've also DPS-War with about 4,500hp (you can eat a bomb, or a weight and walk away!)... and I've cleared him as a bard with 3,100 but there are some close calls especially late in the fight if you have a lower DPS group from stomps which become more dangerous than weights.

yesterday got quite often to P5 with shout parties, the farthest we got was second bombs cycle (circle pattern). My question is, is there a secure way to pass that attack? I positioned myself on top of central bomb, but when I realized he was gonna landslide I was doomed lol.

I guess positioning all party members on one side of the arena until he starts casting landslide and THEN move to the centre should be the safest option to keep yourself evenly distant from the bombs around the perimeter and not risk to get the landslide, right? Any better strategy? TY.

1. Note which bomb is dropped first - this is the one that will explode first.
2. Stack on the central bomb - it's always dropped last and explodes last.
3. If you are in the path of landslide, move out of it in the direction opposite of the first bomb dropped (see #1).
4. As soon as landslide hits, run towards the first bomb dropped.

Used Duty Finder to practice a few times. Got past the heart quite easily but as soon as there's a wipe people leave.

So I started shouting for a party with no luck so I thought "Screw it I'll use duty finder to practice"

Nailed it first time! Duty Finder Titan is not impossible :)

The fight for me is hard because I cant find a static group to keep trying it with. I do have major lag issues with the game, but when the servers are not lagging for me the attack rotation and dodging are perfect.

If you can not beat titan, and you lag EVERY single time... stop trying. If your excuse is always going to be that you can not avoid/dodge attacks.. Than stop trying, you will never beat him if you get hit by every attack. Your group will never beat him if you get hit by every attack.

So why exactly is this stupid? I'm a NA player on a JP server so I have a basic 200ms delay on anything, I just sucked it up and memorized every move over 100 deaths, it actually isn't that hard once you have the patterns down. Besides you need to plan where to stand and where to run anyways (hint away from people), so purely reactionary isn't optimal.

I do it in a PUG for my FC all the time, I'm a MT now but I did the first time as ST. Here's another hint, as a MT I have 3 macros setup to call out landslide, plume and mountain buster, since I have it memorized I call each aoe 2 seconds before it hits, so everyone has a chance to run, hence why I have a probably 50% win rate even in a PUG as long as we get a decent party. If you're PUGing and u memorized the moves, set these macros up for everyone else's benefit. You have no idea how many accolades I get from JP/NAs saying thanks for (beware of) or thanks for (user macro) (good job!) etc...


Now for the rotations, short of memorizing everything, in order to get a 2s headstart on the plume run you need to watch for 3 certain signals/patterns, I'm only talking after heart here you obviously should have no issues getting that far:

1. Normal rotation, after the heart he goes into this rotation first, mountain buster ---> tumult ---> plumes, so you need to start looking for an exit strat during the tumult and get moving early
2. Bombs, dodge the bomb --> landslide ---> mountain buster will be incoming ---> plume, so you dodge the bomb, the landslide, if ur a healer u start topping off the MT during the landslide then get ready to run from plumes. So here's the mix up, plume follows mountain buster, you're not MT you barely notice it, so notice it and get moving.
3. Gaol (rock prison) --> landslide ---> mountain buster ---> tumult ---> plume ... this is basically the normal rotation, tumults are followed by plume.

So to break it down remember two things:
1. tumult is followed by plume, start running in tumult, if ur healer get ready to run
2. bomb --> landslide ---> mountain buster ---> plume - after bombs watch for the mountain buster on the MT - plumes are coming

And above all else, MAKE MACROS, warn other people, there is always a weakest link in a PUG, if it's not you who cares, they die you wipe, so make these macros!

Did it enough until I knew his rotation basically.

It's impossible to suck at Titan as a Tank though, all you need to know is that after the heart, he's gonna table flip, and then after each landslide, he will again.

If you are a tank, and the consistent cause of wipes for your party, you aren't trying at all.

While a chunk of Tanks i've seen aren't the cause of the wipes, a good many of them don't even use Cooldowns at ALL for Mountain Buster. None at all, they don't even try. They just block it with their face.

This is the noob undergeared dps tha keep taking damage from basic abilities, draining healer's mana, that sucks. Anytime any try, there are always dps sucking like that. Thats why ppl stuck on that

if you have a good group you shouldn't need to. mountain buster does about 3k with shield oath on. i usually keep cds (bar rampart, awareness, fight or flight, or convalescence) for when the team is recovering from a hard hit. hallowed is exclusive for raises we won't last without.

also titan down for me. had my FC help with it. they're great.
(still only half the group left standing at the end though, even one or two with a relic.)

Shouldn't? I know how much of a pain it is to get the Tank up for Mountain Buster, especially if the group is sub optimal or the other healer is falling behind. It's about making the group's life easier. Especially the healers. They have it the worst, and i've done all 3 roles.

I'm well aware of that. unfortunately, most of my prior runs the healers had no trouble keeping me up, rather they try to cast before moving. titan is a combination of a dps race, dodge game, and a boss fight (with a priority on "dodge"). healers not used to moving plus titan plus latency do not mix well at all.

in any event, cool-downs are not something to be relied on for hard hits, as he will hit you with the same attack before the cool-down is complete, at most paladins can only mitigate a few mountain busters a run. that's why i save them for when healers actually need them: for when the group gets hit hard and requires more attention from healers to make sure the next big attack doesn't end up wiping the group.

if the healers are having trouble keeping the raid plus a paladin up on phase 4, how do you think they would fare with a Warrior? warriors specialize in health restoring buffs, and only have two damage mitigation buff (foresight and defiance). as i said: cool-downs are not to be relied on, by healer nor by tank.

i really dont think healers have it too bad especially scholars who dont have to stand still for a lot

dps have the job i wouldn't want, and they're usually the ones getting caught in wotl cos they dont memorise when its coming


topping off a tank, occasional medica and avoiding dmg is probably one of the easier jobs

Beat Titan several times on PLD before fighting it on BRD. Once I fought it on DPS, I didn't think it was as hard as everyone made it out to be. I guess having the patterns memorized from calling out rotaions on Vent so many times helped a lot. Also on WotL, when it's coming, get to the middle and start running outward towards the edge NOT in the direction of another person, or following another person. This will get you out safely, and as long as you don't follow another person, it will prevent you from running INTO another WotL. Also on WotL, you need to be running PRIOR to the animation to guarantee that you will avoid it. Hope it helps and good luck!

@ OP: It's just memorizing his ability rotation and anticipating what's coming. If you can't stack for plumes, you can stay near the outside. Just make sure you're aware of where you're placing plumes and make sure you're not cutting people off with them.

Tanking it is not faceroll. As a tank I have just as much of a chance of not dodging one of the mechanics as dps does. I found heart phase to be more difficult as a tank because I can not stand where ever I like but have to be close to him and in front of him in just the right spot or I can not hit the heart and lose agro. Dodging stuff is harder when you have to be in a specific spot in relation to the mob and can not pre run.

That is why people fail. At around the 9th to 10th wipe some groups are just starting to get into the groove. The way I look at it is everyone in the group should be expected to fail on one of the mechanics atleast once before a succesfull kill. There are like what 4 or 5 mechanics. So expect 16-20 wipes on the average if your not with a steady group that does it every night. Edit* I wrote this with the assumption the OP was talking about normal mode titan lol.. With 8 people I really think you should be using PuG's for practice only, then finding a static group when you feel you learned your own role good enough.

Although, I'm not a person who can follow patterns or rotations. When I see something happen in Titan I just do it, no thinking or knowing .. just kind of second nature to me I guess.

Practice in the DF - about 10 times. Then made a static.

Passed about a few tries.

Remember the script:
After Heart phase: Mountain Buster -> Tumult -> Weight of the Land -> Bombs -> Land Slide -> Mountain Buster -> Weight of the Land -> Gaol (rocks someone) -> Land Slide -> repeat.
Don't prerun out of weight, but know where you're running to ahead of time. Weight will only spawn under another player (sometimes I've seen it spawn under the boss). Find a spot where no one is at and run there as soon as you see weight and not any earlier. You could make a strategy where after tumult everyone waits in the middle for weight then runs to the sides or everyone stays on the sides for weight and run to the middle.
Run left and right out of land slide. Never run out on an angle. There are videos of people on youtube running on an angle out of landslide and trying to blame their failure on latency. If you run on an angle you will only increase your chances of being hit by it.

Pay attention to which bombs dropped first. For the bombs that drop in a circle, you will be staying in the middle and then running to the side that the first bombs dropped after they explode. When they drop in sets of threes, you'll be standing where the last set dropped then moving to the middle after they explode.

I usually tank titan... which is uneventful and boring. I decided to DPS titan on my warrior last night just for the hell of it. I did fine. Avoided everything perfectly. It was my first time ever having to do mechanics on that fight. Know the script and make smart decisions and you should be fine. Latency does play a part and maybe I'm lucky there, but many failures on titan AREN'T latency related.

I died at beginning of phase 5, and the rest of the group beat Titan while I was dead.

I've done every role for Titan HM. Healing certainly does have the most demanded of it. Then followed by DD and Tank last.

I play a tank. :3

It's really hard to be bad at titan as a tank.

the puddles do target people, best way I have dealt with it is to be away from everyone else, or 1 group I ran with we all stacked up in the middle and only moved when he did the knock back thingy and bombs, and to avoid the puddles, I got crappy 3mb/sec DSL and I still get hit sometimes, but like other people are saying, if u know its coming, its better to move early then too late and die.

its so nice being able to react to stuff on titan instead of having to anticipate the casts and other player movements... SE i hate your networking implementation, please check out other mmo's on how to deal with lag :(

I'm running on 180 ping though, as an Oceanic person who plays on the Japanese servers - I've heard of people with about 230 ping do it just fine, or avoid things just fine. Have you considered tunnels?

Yeah, I run around 180-200 to NA/EU servers and really only get hit if i'm distracted or typing.

1.) Healers

2.) DPS

3.) Pets

4.) Friends of healers or DPS

5.) Titan

6.) Tanks


If you are a tank, and you are sick of losing to titan because of "other people" then help your group out by making warning macros and offering suggestions.

Personally for me, when I was first learning titan I didn't fully understand how the plumes worked. I thought they were just random to the map and didn't know they originated underneath a player. Once I understood that, it was on.

You don't have to memorize entire rotations though. The most you will have to do is know what Weight of the Land comes after for each phase which shouldn't be hard at all once you can maintain your composure through the final phase. Healers have to know when stomps are coming on top of that, so it is a little rough, but my trick for that was that in the final phase when you see the Gaol, Stomps will come after the next Mountain Buster.

I learned his rotation.
