Miner changes unfair

No it doesnt. Currently they are the slowest classes to level. Period.

The fighting classes have their fates, crafters have thier hqs, fisher is .well, just fisher and perfect where it is aside from needing a bit more viablity, and at the VERY end are the other two gathers which have twice as much grind as anyone else.

This is the equivalent of saying you deserve something for a choice you voluntarily made that ultimately did not turn out to be in your favor. In the Japanese online community there's a saying "人柱乙", it roughly translates to a sarcastic way of saying "thanks for being the guinea pig". It speaks to the fact that rushing ahead of others just means you take on the risk of becoming the "first victim" that is sacrificed to uncover any issues so that a fix is offered for everyone else.

Let this be a lesson, never try to be the first of anything in this game.

Are you really sure? It just took me like 40 minutes to get 44-45 via leves. And simply gathering is just around two times slower. Crafting hqs might be faster but they are not self sufficient, so it is hard to estimate how much time they actually take.

Being someone who mines his own shards 250 at a time for Culinary. I welcome the change

If only I could level off all the tears in this thread, I'd be 50 already..

Lets do some rough math (lots of rounding).

61 servers, roughly each sever supports 7800 concurrent users connected, we'll be conservative and say there are twice as many accounts on each server. So, we get around 15,600 accounts per server. So, the overall game has a population of 951,600. Again keep in mind I'm just doing really rough estimates.

So, when someone complains on this forum, and shouts as loud as they can, what portion of the population do they actually represent?

About 0.0001% and that's being really generous. At the time of my posting this I see the OP's post has at least 5 people who like/agree with him.

So, that makes those 6 individuals(OP included) represent 0.0006% of the population that think the mining update is unfair.

Botany and Miner are tedious. Do I personally mind that tedium? Not in the slightest, in fact I enjoy it. I was simply pointing out the silliness of some peoples posts claiming that this will "fix" the classes; it wont. If someone finds running up to a node and hitting enter a few times before running up to another, to be tedious, then they'll still find it tedious after this adjustment... They are tedious classes, all this adjustment means is people will spend less time leveling in that tedium; anyone who intends to actually use the classes will still be doing the same tedious routine, the classes don't magically change after 50.

Sounds like OP grinded to 50 in 1.0 like i did..

Do i feel cheated? nope. Why? Because i made a ungodly amount of gil in the process.. you already had a reward.. all that gil you made and the ability to farm items those who were not 50 at launch could not... and make MORE gil then them...

What this boils down to is another sense of entitlement.

How exactly is this change going to negatively affect you?

There is no correlation between this change and whether your time leveling was wasted or not. If you believe having a max-level miner is a benefit, then that benefit remains intact. If you believe having a max-level miner is useless, then indeed you wasted your time, but regardless of this change.

LOL Most of us knew something like this was going to eventually happen, and it's going to happen next Tuesday.
So you got till then to sell at the prices you have up now, although smart buyers would probably wait till Tuesday till the actual prices start dropping rapidly :cool:

The most common of senses? Please stop trying to sound smart when, in fact, you aren't. But that's fine. If you want to remain living in your fantasy world that with a few added xp, the grind of swinging a pickaxe all day is going to magically disappear, then by all means you keep that winning attitude!!

I don't agree with whining that others will be getting it easier while you had to work harder.

But making leveling Botanist and Miner even faster was and is completely unnecessary. The game hasn't even been out for 2 months yet, but there are already plenty of players that have both Botanist and Miner at level 50. FFXIV is supposed to last for years, everyone has more than enough time to get these two classes to 50. This change is just stupid and is only good for people that want to "beat FFXIV", and pack up and leave for the next game as soon as possible.

Leveling DoL is even easier in 2.0 than it was in 1.0, and I leveled both in 1.0. Do you see me complaining about it?

I just got done leveling my miner 48 hours ago from 1 - 50. Then 'this'.

Needless to say, I almost /wrist'd.

It's a vicious cycle.
People complain cause it's broken
Developers adhere to complainers to fix it.
And then people complains when it's fixed.

It's why I feel that SquareEnix listen to players way too much.

Agree'd... they all need to drink it....

lol. It's the same for those who are going to beat Coil first, get their relics first, ect. Later on that will be made easier to, as the game progresses. That's already been told. So, it's happening to gathering too. Who cares? :P

Meh, I just hit lv50 Miner, Botanist, Fisher recently (stopped at lv30 in 1.0) but I did feel the EXP needed some more boost when comparing miner/botanist to crafting classes or fishing class where you get much more XP on HQ items. You get 4 turns about 300-500ish xp (without scroll or food) so thats 1200-2000/node, crafting for the same amount of time for 1 craft can give from 2400-8000 depending on the item + when you craft new items you get a larger bonus. This also goes for fishing also, fishing I kind of felt that they did too much on HQ fish xp. Normal 2000-3000xp HQ 8000++++

Only difference between crafting and gathering is that you need to have the crafting materials so I can see why the xp is more on crafting, and it should be kept the way it is. But as for Miner/Botanist I think this change should be good, I'm sure it's not going to be a drastic change, just increased a little more to be more balanced with other classes leveling speed.

It means there will be a limit to how many people are allowed in each zone/map. This is to prevent the crashes that's been brought on by Odin/Behemoth Fates. There's a thread in the JP forum about how this can be an issue though (getting locked out of a zone when the Fate is up even when you have no intention of participating).

We 1.0 Gatherers (BEFORE Yoshi took over) have not even open our mouths yet. You want to complain that its unfair? I am actually happy they decided to make leveling gathering jobs easier. Trust ME, ask those 1.0 Gatherers what it is like to level in 1.0 pre-Yoshi.

I took my Botany and Mining till Lv34, basically took up all my play time.

MMO's usually start rough, then they make stuff easier cause ppl complain.

It's expected, it's predictable, it happens.

I, for one, welcome the change. And I'm going to level Miner and Botanist to 50 solely on the increased EXP rewards just to make OP mad.

No matter the MMO , no matter what they do , no matter how they do it .........................they will never ever satisfy all the complainers out there who wake up every day to just complain about every little thing they can think of.

People who leveled mining quickly had the advantage of setting prices and selling for (likely) higher prices than will be seen in the near future. Late comers will have to abide and/or sell for less, having lost the opportunity to sell while "new". At some point, the prices may skyrocket, but it won't be in the near future... and is also a concept that hopefully is not foreign to people who know the most basic of supply & demand.

Ya they could of gone about the oversaturated nature of items better in terms of the unspoiled nodes had they done it differently. They could of created a mini market between DoL, where let's say the Darksteel ore node has the following pre-req.

When the node is up at 1am, you click on it and are given the following prompt that picked one of the following:
1=Offer 50 Mistletoes to proceed
2=Offer 50 electrum ores to proceed
3=Offer 50 Rosewood logs to proceed
4=Offer 50 Rosewood Branches to proceed
5=Offer 50 Grade 3 carbonized matter to proceed.

So basically when you reach an unspoiled node they would request 50 of the above items, different from each unspoiled node and upon meeting the requirements it would remove the item from inventory and you would be able to gather from the node

Doing this would add value to the "junk" items in the game because of the ease of obtianing them since gatherers would now need all 5 on hand to be rdy for what they might need since it would be randomized.

1.0 mining. and the max exp you get per hit is around 300exp? As you level higher it goes to 60-78exp, you got to move up to a higher level node.

Now they show you what you can get. Mining is so much easier now. Increase in EXP is a good idea. Because Gathering jobs is more like a Secondary job, used to help you craft or get some gils.

I have absolutely no interest in crafting but this makes me want to do it for shits and giggles.

Where are the patch notes on this? Have not touched miner in a while because the only time I make progress on a level is when I get HQ which is laughable at times...

Unfair? Perhaps.. but they're only Miner changes.
